The wittle foxs journey

Day 3,445, 15:23 Published in Ireland Israel by Black Coyote

Something to nibble upon while reading

There`s snow everywhere, even the window itself got frostified. I want to play outside but mum and dad don’t let me… They are too conventional and I`m bored.
I decided to sneak up on them.
I got out and boy is it all white. First thing I do is look at my feet, to make sure I`m not just blind.
Good news! I`m not… I start to jump around, enjoying my freedom. I roll snowballs with my snout and eventually build a small castle, not too far away from the lair. Then I decided to investigate the forest. I went into the vast oak forest.

It feels like déjà vu in here, I feel like I have been walking around in circles. Suddenly as I walk a banana peel drops on my back and slides onto my head, like a crown. I look up and who do I see if not my cousin Vita. Of course she starts jumping with joy and slaps me, with an excuse that its rough love... Those slaps really hurt, cousin is the strongest bonobo I know. She could lift any fallen tree with ease. She ate rocks for breakfast. Maybe that’s why now she only eats squishy food, like bananas… Anyhow, we managed to get to a frozen grassland and we started playing Catch there, with a blue banana. I started licking my paws because they were getting too cold for my taste.
Did I say it was a grassland? It wasn’t just a grassland, it was a special grassland. It was a grassland bordered by the oak forest on one side, and a stone-cold running river on the other. One moment as I was carelessly running around to catch the banana I slipped, thanks to an ice patch hidden beneath the snow, and I went straight into the river.
I could see in cousin`s eyes that she was shocked. She couldn’t do much, she immediately reached for a branch and tried to get me out, but the water was much more swifter. All I managed to do was yell a: Goodbye!
Next thing I know I open my eyes and see a perfect white landscape of a river bank, tainted by a dirty washed up fox. There`s a new forest on my horizon, it feels familiar, and my inner animal tells me to explore it. The deeper I go, the more I remember. I`ve been here, many years ago. I was following my father to this remote place, what happened further I cannot provide you with. It’s a family matter.
I head straight to the only spot I know here, I galumphed to the Ye`Olde Gimmerwack, the oldest most walloping tree nature ever grew. It was throned on top of a steep cliff from where one could supervise the whole forest kingdom below. As I was enjoying the breathtaking view I noticed a bear in the clouds. What could this mean? I wasn’t very surprised since i`ve seen a lion cloud once so it wasn’t really supernatural, but I wondered if it meant something…
I saw a small rubber ball near my feet. How it got here I could only imagine, but that didn’t crossed my mind at all. I was happy, I could play. With a neat trick, I picked it up on my snout and was trying to balance it, but I failed. Not because I did not have the necessary skills, but because mr. Gimmerwack here decided to treat me with a ball of snow which dropped right on my head, thus disbalancing me. My clumsy tail ended up hitting the ball which gaining momentum went into ricochet, back and forth between the Gimmerwack and the other trees nearby before finally flying pass my dazzled head, lucky for me I did not lose it, and lending straight into a small hole in the midst of a tree`s roots.
Just when I was about to go after it, I felt a tremor. My mind wasn’t playing tricks on me, I felt another, and another. The deceiving snow on the entrance of the hole crumbled and revealed its true size. The pitch darkness didn’t wary me, what did tho was the 2 large eyes floating in the center of the black. And what made my heart go cuckoo was the figure of an enormous creature with razor claws and a pair of hellish teeth. It was a giant among bears. I was the scapegoat for tampering his slumber, life is not fair.
Gimmerwack was the only one to dare and offer me protection. Quickly then, I hid in a reasonably hallow branch. It was home to an ant kingdom, they were the only ones to understand my uneasiness at that moment. Both parties were compassionate towards each other in this moment of great danger, as both parties felt the occurrence of fuzzy gravity which in reality was Grumpy shaking the branch.
I knew he pushed us down the moment I started to levitate. In those few second I recapped my whole life. Somehow I managed to survive, landing on the cushy snow, but I never saw my tiny new friends, nor the wooden capsule ever again.

I heard a loud CRACK, I had fallen down onto a frozen lake, which now started to liven up. I didn’t wanted to end up as ice cream so I dropped on my all fours and started running like crazy. You can imagine I was not in my best shape right then. Also one of my claws bounced off a sturdy point of ice and resulted with me skidding across the lake on my sitting muscle. I stopped when I made a full body portrait into the tree a collided in, but hey at least finally I was safe and sound.
When I came to my senses I saw a pinkish handkerchief laying in the snow. When I picked it up my eyes fixated on what was behind it, the most beautiful snake I have ever seen.
She pretended that she hasn’t noticed me, but it was clear as a day that she dropped it, it must be her handkerchief.
I simply couldn’t let my eyes of her, the way she elegantly shuffled across the snow, the way she delightfully hissed, the way she moved her checkered tail. And just when I was wondering is this heaven or am I really on earth, a big crud of snow, falling from the tree I just hit, buried me unconscious. Eventually the shimmers of my own body woke me up and helped me shake off the snow around me. By now I felt really cold. The bewitching eyesight was not here, only her snow traces which fate left them untouched so that we can get reunited. I was ready. I swore to give her back her precious piece of fine silk. My blood was pumping and I forgot about the cold. I lifted my front leg and did the first step forward. Halfway doing so I felt something chaining me to the ground and soon found my face back on in the snow. As I was being unconscious, I was unfortunate enough to be laying under a small frozen pond. If you take into account the cold weather and do the maths, you will get a “nuts sticked to ice”.
Yes…I didn’t felt very pleasant.
Then out of the blue, Stork, my camera man decided to call it a day and went off flying while holding the camera with his legs. The last few frames you could see are me getting smaller and smaller, shrieking:
HHHEEEEEEEELLPPP!!!!
