The CJCS's Plan to Save Amerika!

Day 1,379, 14:27 Published in USA USA by Israel Stevens

A little over a week ago, the CJCS presented a plan to Cerb and the Administration about a military plan that they thought had a great deal of value to America and her allies. The plan was briefly mentioned in one ofCerb’s presidential addresses, but only fleetingly. I wanted to take the time to present the plan in full, and break down my personal thoughts on the matter.

This is the plan, as it appears in the Officer’s Lounge, on the Mil Forum:

A Plan presented by JCS to Cerb for your review
On Monday the 22nd Brad presented a plan developed by the JCS to Cerb. I am posting this plan on this forum in an effort to show how the JCS team has continued to try work with various administrations, despite not always being afforded a warm welcome. I also hope that the JMO officer corp will have comments and input on this plan. The basic concept is that we want to increase our resource base (and that of our allies) w/o getting bogged down in perpetual RWs.

Phase One (can be implemented now)
Goal:

Traditional landswap with Mexico.
Proposed deal:
USA gains Baja (saltpeter) NE Mex (bridge region) Gulf Coast (fish) & SE MEx (rubber).
Mexico gains New Mexico (bridge/cattle) Colorado (cattle) & Nebraska (grain). As further compensation USA would fully subsidize an MPP w/ Mexico.
Pros:
USA would have 4/5 food boosts and 4/5 weapons boosts while only being vulnerable to one RW at a time. Minimizing the "RW debt" allows us to still represent in other areas, we wouldn't be 100% occupied with colonial defense, leaving our Allies flapping in the breeze.
Mexico would have 4/5 food boosts and 1/5 weapons boosts. IMHO the increase in food productivity more than offsets the loss in weapons production but we want this deal to work so we would sweeten the pot by 100% covering the cost of a USA-Mexico MPP.

Phase 2 (can be implemented in stages)
Motto for phase 2:
it is good to have Allies. Having well armed Allies is even better.
Phase 2a: The Canadian Corridor (can be done immediately)
Goal:
Lend-Lease deal to improve Canada's resources. We would not charge rent, this would be a deal between 2 Allies who have helped each other many times.
Proposed Deal:
Canada would NE USA and take MN (grain/bridge) WI (grain/bridge) MI (Grain/bridge) IN (grain/bridge) OH (grain/bridge) IL (oil) & KY (fruit).
Pros:
This move would allow Canada to add fruit, grain & oil, reaching 5/5 food and 3/5 weapons boosts. This swap adds 3 resources while exposing Canada to 1 RW.
Phase 2b: Going Green (cannot be implemented now but concept can be approved for future action)
Goal:
Lend-Lease deal to improve Ireland's resources. We would not charge rent, this would be a deal between 2 Allies who have helped each other many times.
Proposed Deal:
Ireland (or a trusted intermediary--perhaps Canada could seize these regions in advance, allowing Ireland to NE Canada in the future and keep USA MPP during "swap" process) would NE USA and take MA (aluminum/bridge) NY (aluminum/bridge) PA (bridge) & WV (grain).
Pros:
This move would allow Ireland to add grain & aluminum, reaching 3/5 food and 2/5 weapons boosts. This swap adds 2 resources while exposing Ireland to 1 RW.
Cons:
Those wankers in the UK would try and screw with this plan 24/7......but we do have ways of handling that problem. 😉
Phase 2c: The French Connection (cannot be implemented now but concept can be approved for future action)
Goal:
Lend-Lease deal to improve France's resources. We would not charge rent, this would be a deal between 2 Allies who have helped each other many times.
Proposed Deal:
France would NE USA and add NJ (aluminum) NC (bridge) GA (bridge) AL (bridge) MS (bridge) and LA (oil)
Pros:
This move would allow France to add oil & aluminum with their orig regions the would have 3/5 food and 4/5 weapons boosts. This swap adds 2 resources while exposing France to 1 RW.

General Notes:
Phase 1 and Phase 2a can be achieved w/o delay. Phase 2b & Phase 2c are currently not feasible but the agreement can be made and achieving these objectives could be a unifying effort for all parties involved.
The USA (somewhat unfairly) is regarded as a bad Ally. Helping 3 neighboring Allies (we'd like to help old pals like Croatia, Romania & Greece but the trade route rule makes is hard to do and impossible to sustain) is a great way to build PR.
The swaps outlined in Phases 2a-c don't deprive the USA of any resources. As long as we have resource corridors leading to the capitol we get the production boosts. It does make for an interesting map but ask yourself, what good are surplus regions? Do we really need 12 grain regions when 1 will suffice?
Sorry for the text wall but we hope it is interesting reading. Your comments are welcome either by post or PM.

Let’s start at the very top. In the second sentence, the poster has already mentioned how the CJCS isn’t well received, but goes on to say that they are trying to help. Setting up the appearance of a repressed military, and feeding into the mindset of the JCS, and the mindset that they try and project onto the military. Two sentences in.

Now, Phase 1. The general idea here, is to swap with Mexico, and for both nations to get resources that they don’t already have. Very straight forward idea. Except for the whole problem of Mexico being a ONE puppet. For many months, the United States has tried to effect peace with our Southern neighbor. It would be beneficial to both parties, and it would allow for both sides to have a friendly border. But, the Mexicans have stoutly refused to.
So why would we region swap with them? This would open the United States up to constant Resistance Wars from Mexico. Every single day, at every single hour, there would be an active Resistance War in a Mexican region. It would be never ending. And if ONE threw any sort of support behind it, we would likely lose it.
Also, this requires the United States to not Resistance War any of the Mexican held regions. No small feat, considering how easy it is to support a Resistance War. Many people still don’t have a medal, and it would be nearly impossible to keep 10 two-clickers from starting one.
So, we’d have to be constantly defending our own colonies, and making sure that Mexico kept theirs. Not off to a good start.

Mexican regions in USA

Phase 2a: The general idea here, is to take the US/Canadian Region Swap that we’ve been doing forever, one step further, and move Canada all the way down into Illinois and Kentucky. Basically, expanding the Region Swapping deal. This is the best idea of the entire plan, and although but it is incredibly excessive. Why give Canada Michigan, Ohio, Indiana. When, you can simply give them, Wisconsin, and achieve the same results. But overall, it would set up Canada nicely, and as long as they could hold those regions, it should work out nicely.

Phase 2b: The general idea here, is to move Ireland from Massachusetts, down to West Virgina. Again, not a bad idea overall. But, you run into the same issues here too. It is simply too many regions, too many Resistance Wars. We would be constantly defending Resistance wars in Massachusetts, and possibly other regions as well.

A lot of unnecessary region swapping. Keep it Simple!

Phase 2c: The general idea here, is to give France New Jersey, as well as North Carolina, to Louisiana. The New Jersey part is a good idea, but moving France all the way to Louisiana, would be a pretty daunting task. The main problem with this idea? France is almost completely occupied, and has been for months. I would be willing to bet that instead of wasting time on impossible region swapping ideas, the JCS would deploy to Poland and help out. Now, admitedly, this part of the plan was labelled as not possible right now. But, it still smacks of being overly ambitious.

The new look of the East Coast...

Why not start simply? France takes New Jersey, Ireland takes Massachusettes, Canada takes Minnesota and Alaska. And if that works, then expand on it, and start the winding paths to the interior of the country. Let’s start small, and see if we can manage that.

My overall thoughts on the plan, is that it is far, far too ambitious, and with the current state of eRepublik, and the ease of making war, it is simply not feasible. There would likely be resistance wars constantly. Obviously, resistance wars are different now, in that you need to have citizenship in order to start a battle, but if you don’t think that there aren’t 10 people who would like a Resistance Hero Medal, then you probably aren’t playing the same game I am. But, they are also free to start; meaning there is no risk whatsoever. And once the battle is open, anyone can fight. ONE is free to tank the battle. And as we learned during the most recent invasion, ONE certainly has the capabilities to dominate our Resistance Wars.

The plan also calls for the United States to surrender 20 states. That is fine, considering that we have 51, but doesn’t take into account things like new players. There would be 20 states that would have new players starting in another country. Plus, it gives away New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Massachusetts, and some other high population states. And lastly, it doesn’t take into consideration Congressional Elections.

It also, seems like the CJCS is largely over estimating the coordination of the United States. There would need to be a significant force, stationed at home, or able to move home quickly, almost all the time. Simply for the task of defending the myriad of regions that would be susceptible to Resistance War. There would be constant Resistance wars, which would require high amounts of coordination, just to make sure that everyone kept their regions. Which militia has to stay behind, while the others go to Europe? Who is stuck with that job?

Considering that we have only just barely gotten all of our regions back, is this really the time for something like this? Let’s focus on all the allies that helped us achieve our freedom. Ireland. France. Germany. Those countries need our help now. They need their own regions back. Not a bunch of regions in North America.

To me, this seems like a ‘doomed proposal’ from the beginning. The CJCS knows damn well that this is incredibly ambitious, and likely hard to obtain. And even harder to maintain. And they likely knew that Cerb (or any PotUS) wouldn’t go for it. At least not all the way. The Canadian portion is currently being implemented, at least kind of. It’s a much simpler version of it.

This is like the CJCS saying “See?! We’re trying! We want to help America and her Allies! But the big bad President doesn’t want to!” A complete and total propaganda proposal. They present it to the Executive, with mixed response. And then bring it back to the Mil Forum, and say “We tried guys. But the PotUS doesn’t want to.” It is a blatant attempt to continue to twist the current state of affairs to their own liking, and to try and further alienate both sides. The CJCS are trying to consolidate their power, as they pull back further into their shells, becoming more paranoid of the rest of the nation. And trying to subvert as many of their soldiers as possible.

I’m sure many will ask ‘what’s the point?’ And it’s a good question. With a simple answer.

This is for the military. Not for the CJCS, but for everyone else. Look around at what has happened, and take it in. Look at this article, and how the CJCS is trying to manipulate the situation. Look at where we are now, and look at how we got here. You guys are some of the smartest, best minds in the game. And the most dedicated as well. If the United States is ever going to come to an internal peace, it will be because you decided to do it. Cerb will not close the gap. Nor will any PotUS. Nor any Secretary of Defense. And neither will any of the JCS. If this is going to come to an end, it must come from you. You don’t have to leave the family of the JCS. But you do have to stand up and demand that something change. They can’t DD everyone, then it would be just them.
