I am officially pissed, let me be upfront about that. The pickle party was PTO'ed. I will explain my position on PTO'ing later, after I have my rant. Please read that statement before you automatically cry "foul", thank you!

Pickled Pete

So this guy, Pickled Pete joins the party a couple of days before the party presidential elections. I check out his profile and he looks like a 2-clicker. He wears a ST6 frame but is not a member. I peruse his friends list and see a lot of familiar faces, so I group PM them. Some respond and tell me that they don't really know him and I just go on thinking he's a 2-clicker. I PM, letting him know he is unwelcome.

On the 15th, I take a look at the party page. It's like 04:00 eRep time (4am here), I'm working an overnight shift. dabestof is the MU member that wanted to run and was the "official" candidate. Mr. Pickled Pete is the outsider that no one knows. At that time there are 16 party members. I finish my shift and go home to bed.

Later in the day (unsure what time, just early evening), the count is dabestof leading 11:2 so I go do other stuff and forget about it. This is obviously a n00b that found a button. I'm still tired from last night and go back to bed early. The next day, the 16th, I find that dabestof lost 11:12 and that we still have only 16 members. I send another PM to Pete and offer my congratulations. (Sarcasm intended.)




My Conclusion

This is indeed a very lucky 2-clicker that unwittingly was "helped" by people who do not like me or this was a PTO. I lean toward the latter as this was too 'clean' of a job to be an accident. Currently my PM's to Pete have been unanswered and I see nothing remarkable on the party page. Also I haven't heard any 'noise' about him taking over the Pickle Party. Me thinks multie is possible here and the owner is laying low, hoping that Admins won't be checking.




What's Next & My Thoughts On PTO's

Obviously I didn't expect this. When I shouted about what happened, several friends commented that I should have said something. Well I didn't because I wasn't watching. Just let it be known that next month, unless his owner can come up with a few hundred votes, Pete will be out on his ass. I like what Teddy Roosevelt said on the subject, "Speak softly and carry a BIG f'ing stick.".

As far as my view of PTO'ing a political party, it is all about perspective. If the "owner" of the party has abandoned it or is doing shit that is harmful to the country or citizens of the country that the party is in, then I have no problem with a PTO. I have never actively helped PTO a party and most likely never will. My perspective of the Pickle Party is that it most certainly was not abandoned, as the party president prior to the election (me) PM'ed the PTO'er asking him to stand down. Also, it would be hard to say that we did anything bad as the party hasn't even been started yet. It is just there for my MU members to be in until such time as I get a chance to set things up and start training them how to participate in the political mod. If your perspective is that any party is fair game and/or we deserved to be PTO'ed, then bend over, get ready for a visit from a very hostile pickle.
