Should we Invade Serbia?

Day 2,006, 04:40 Published in USA USA by Israel Stevens

With the failed resistance war in Aquitaine a few days ago, there is a question of whether we should stop dicking around in France, and just straight up invade Serbia. I’m going to go through the pros and cons of an invasion on this scale.

Pros:

A real war.
Depending on your idea of a ‘real war’ we haven’t had one in a while. I consider the war against Taiwan to be one, but I know that I am in the minority there. You could go back to November, when Chile attacked us for a few days. Or back to October when Hungary kicked our ass. Or September, when we lost a few regions to Macedonia.
But for most people, it will likely be our wipe of Indonesia in August. So, about nine months.
A war against Serbia would change that, and would be a unifying action because everyone hates Serbia.

War is good for retention
A nation caught up in an epic struggle is much more likely to retain new players than a nation that sits on it’s laurels. We get hundreds of new citizens a day, and could potentially get more of them to stick around.

Our MUs would be united
Because again, everybody hates Serbia. Except the AFA of course.

Resources
Southern France holds both Rubber and Fish, two resources we need. If Serbia is up for a challenge, and keeps fighting us, we could potentially get both.

Cons

TWO would get involved
We share borders with Serbia, Poland, United Kingdom and Spain. What are the odds that all of those nations stay out of a Serbia/USA war? slim to none. You can count on a Polish attack, and probably a UK one. Spain would hopefully abstain.
Plus, with just a little bit of finagling, Hungary and Romania could Airstrike us. We’d be facing a multi front invasion in no time.

Losing sucks
Serbia is powerful. So our their allies. When the full weight of TWO’s armies are put behind Serbia, we’re going to lose battles. A lot of them. That’s not good for unity, nor is it good for retention.

Missing Coordination
The relationship between the President and the leaders of AIM is just barely getting started. It takes weeks and months to get to a point where the flow of information is at an optimal level.
We’re not there yet. It would leave our forces fractured and misguided.

Loss of MPPs
While CoT has decreed that no nation can have a Serbian MPP, some of the CoT members still haven’t had theirs expire.
An invasion of Serbia would cost us our Macedonian and Indonesian MPPs. Two of the most powerful countries in our stack.

My Personal Opinion

The time isn’t right for an invasion of Serbia. The coordination between the Government and AIM isn’t where it needs to be. Still too much distrust and bad blood. It’s improving, but it takes time. And already, the leaders of AIM can’t help but take pot shots at the President.
Instead of sending a PM, or pinging someone on IRC, they take it to the Media.
Cyber Witch is one of the least publicly vocal leaders of AIM. What’s going to happen when Serbia. Poland, United Kingdom and Hungary are steamrolling the USA? Where will our unity be then?

TWO is simply too strong right now. They’ve gained Romania, and are working hard on Greece, Turkey and China. An attack on Serbia, is an attack on all of TWO, and we will feel their wrath.

Lastly, we will open ourselves up politically. When we start losing regions, the AFA is going to be there, proclaiming themselves the saviors of America, if only we give them a chance to lead. They will have the best of both worlds: fighting directly against the United States, AND having a massive recruiting message.

In short, an attack on Serbia will cause the massive loss of American regions, a complete fracturing of any sort of unity we have, and will strengthen the AFA.

For those reasons, I vote no.

What do you think? Should we invade Serbia?
