Presidential Platform - Mark Morcom [updated]
OKayOK
It’s that time of the month when we all get to make our voices heard and choose who will be taking the reins of this great nation.
I would like to announce to you all that I will be running for President. I see this as the perfect time for me to take office. I have a ton of experience in eSA and have been around since way before the “great fall”. I have been maturing my knowledge waiting for just the right time to do this.
My Credentials:
* Vice President of eSA (Current)
* Commander of the Pretorian Vanguard
* Two time president of the LPSA
* 3 Time Congressman of eSA
I will be running under SAL in alliance with the Liberal Party of South Africa and the Independent Alternative. I hope to see this alliance mature through this collaboration.
It will obviously take a lot of thought and speculation before people can actually know what they want from a president so let me offer up what you can expect from me.
Goals for January:
* 10% GDP Growth
* 13% population growth
* Keep current regions
* Military financial accountability
* Implement systems that help keep eSouth Africa secure
* Opportunities for younger players.
* Foreign Policy Development
* Presidential Organization.
GDP
I know for a fact that Enoch has worked hard at making our money work for us. I believe that this is a reasonable goal and I am sure that we can succeed at reaching this.
Population Growth
I would like to see more articles in other countries. The world needs to know that we are here and they need to know that we are a great place to be.
Keep Current Regions
This is more for safety more that anything. We should hopefully have outstanding regions returned to us by Brazil before Election Day.
I would like to see Gauteng once again under our control. I understand that this would be a very expensive region to get but I think we need to explore the possibility.
Military Financial Accountability
Ok, before all the military folk get pissed and shoot me with a Q5 I would like to explain this a bit more. I want there to be more transparency as to where the military budget is going. At the moment the military requests a huge amount of funds each month and I would like myself and congress to know that it is been spent is the most effective way.
Implement systems that help keep eSouth Africa secure
I think that this is really necessary. We have just recovered from a major attack and we need to be ready for the next. Ugly people want to mess with us, that’s a given. I would like there to be people that keep track of these people and identify threats where they are. The Ministry or Intelligence currently handles this and they do a sterling job, but I would like to explore if there is not more that can be done.
Opportunities for younger players.
I would like there to be fresher faces getting involved in government. This does not mean that I will be replacing all Ministers with a bunch of noobs, but I would like there to be a Accelerated Development Programe (ADP) implemented within each ministry. Each ministry needs to identify players that show talent, mentor the player and get him ready for a future leadership role. The ministries can also do with the extra hands so I see the ADP as being a win for both newer and older players.
Foreign Policy Development
We are a non-aligned nation. Our neutrality is our sovereign right and the people have asked us to remain neutral through referendum. I was sickened to see an e😜
resident of eUS come on to our IRC and mock us for choosing neutrality. We will not be bullied by them or any alliance.
I will work hard to improve our relations between countries in both Alliances. I would like to see eSA enter into a beneficial relationship with eAustralia but will not jeopardize our good relationship with eBrazil just to please them. eAustralia needs respect us and our decisions in this regard and so does eBrazil.
Presidential Organization.
This was discussed at the beginning of Ines’ term but with everything that has happened, it has fallen into the filing cabinet somewhere.
I would like to create a organization and Newspaper that would be used by the Presidency (CP and VP). This Newspaper will be available to the next president. I believe that this will greatly improve how the government communicates to the people.
I see the presidency as more than just a medal in my profile. I see it as an opportunity for me to make a difference in this country. I will work hard for this country and I will never jeopardize it just for pride. I will be a strict president but I don’t want to micro manage the ministries. I do however want the job done and I will accept no less.
Best Regards
Mark Morcom

You have my vote!
Great platform! good luck! 🙂
Good Luck.
Mark Morcom! First South African president of 2010! Mark, good-luck, and you do have my vote!
I have your back Mark. Will be voting for you dude
Very well written platform. Many goals are admirable in nature, such as transparency in the military budget and the region you mention returned.
As a grunt in our beloved eSAAF, I support your request for accountability... it is fair that the citizens know what they are buying...
We should ask Maddog and the other folks at MOD to do an article explaining how many active duty soldiers we have, how many deploy and how many are PG, and what sort of strength and damage we do... some of that data may be hard to collect, but then again, I'm a policy and big picture wonk, numbers aren't my specialty...
Of course, we'll have to be careful not to jump to conclusions once we see the numbers. We'd need per capita defense spending for other nations, and then have to factor in size and security...
Mark Morcom is a boob
So, after bending backwards to let ebrazil invade eAustralia, you won't let eAustralia kick the ebrazilians out of Gauteng?
[shrugs] If you ignore friendship, but willingly obey threats, then it is clear how to treat you.
It was never our intention to let eBrazil invade you guys. You more than likely know this. As a new president it will be my job to clean up a lot of the Foreign Policy problems that we have. Neutrality means being neutral. We remained neutral with the eBra v eAust conflict by sending our troops to help you but letting you through us to attack Brazil purposely would be in violation of our neutrality.
Great stuff - good luck!
Good luck, Mark! You've been a great VP, just like Steven - maybe the next VP I mentored to be president? 😉
Looks good Mark. I hope you win and I look forward to seeing you at the helm. You are active and experienced and eSouth Africa can only benefit from your leadership.
Good luck Mark
Good Luck Mark 🙂 You're an excellent candidate.
Good Luck!
Good Luck!
you got my vote
"letting you through us to attack Brazil purposely would be in violation of our neutrality."
But giving Brazil an invasion route to Australia wasn't? That doesn't make any sense.
Good luck Mark.
Dan Carstens clearly you dont know wat your talking about or you dont understand the events that happend. I can see clearly that you werent playing eRepublik the time the conflict happend by your low level, dont take me wrong dude im NOT calling you a n00b! Just go back to the News paper articles of that time period and do your HOMEWORK BOY! 😛
good luck champ!
@Francios: Just because I disagree with parts of the platform does not mean I don't know what I'm talking about. I did my research. People often have differing views, that's life, no need to get excited about it.
That said I think there's more right than wrong here and I do believe Mark is the best candidate for CP. He has my vote.
