My Take on Alliances
Reximus
It has been a little while since my last article, and a lot has happened. Since my election into the Senate, I have been active in our Senate. Maybe not Speaker level active, but active enough.
Voting Record
As I intend to do, I will give you updates on my personal voting record. I am responsible to all of you guys, and I intend to keep that responsibility well deserved.
There have been seven in-game votes, five of which were orchestrated by yours truly.
NO on Impeachment
YES on Tax Reform
YES on Tax Reform
YES on Tax Reform
YES on Tax Reform
YES on Tax Reform
YES on Alliance of South Africa
YES on Budget
I would like to give a huge shoutout to WageSlave and Irule777 for using their in-game proposals in order to fulfil the vision that was approved by the Senate, via the Forums.
All-in-all, this legislation will have a large impact on the economy of Australia. The government will be receive an estimated 19% more revenue per month, allowing us much more political options.
Long-Term Impacts of Tax Reforms
After I sold the Senate of the benefits of this comprehensive tax revamp, I decided that I would have to inform the populous of this vital decision. And now here we are, 8 days later, enjoying the benefits.
Last month, we made just shy of $54,000. This month, our budget predicts $72,000 of tax revenue.
What this means is that we can have 5 (not 3) alliances, and we will spend $20,000 (not $3,000) on vital government programs, like Centrelink.

Current Alliances:
TWO (The World is Ours)
EDEN (eRepublik Defence and Economy Network)
CoT (Circle of Trust)
Asgard
These alliances are listed in order by their daily influence.
Here is how I see the future geo-political relationships of the New World shaping out...
I believe that EDEN will die, just as many great alliances before it have died. After the death of EDEN, at the hands of the TWO-CoT coalition, I think that the two alliances will, at some point or another, turn on each other. With current influences, CoT has no chance of defeating TWO.
Do not despair, friends of CoT, however! I think that, of the current members of EDEN, who will attempt to escape before the alliance goes defunct (such as the US and Brazil did with Terra), none will go to TWO.
But, if CoT maintains its current charter, I doubt any of them will be able to join CoT, either. I think the entry process into CoT is very dangerous to its future growth - each nation has veto power.
Those of us here in Australia know about this. Long-time enemies like Indonesia would have probably veto'd us from entry, anyway.
And Then There Was Asgard
Still doing 7 times less influence than all of the neutral nations, Asgard is a growing power. Currently only made of Sweden, Finland, Canada, and (now) Norway, it is a relatively small regional alliance.
There is much thought that if Canada joins as a full member (likely), then Ireland and Russia would join Asgard. This would make it a much larger alliance, but still regional.
Many Australians think Asgard would be a good solution, and the reality is that, with the current state of Australia, no alliance would want us. I am now of the mind that Asgard, should they accept us, would be a good option, in addition to TWO.
Continuing with Asgard's possibility of becoming the new home of Australia, 2 member of the Brolliance may be in it (pending Ireland's potential entry.)
With the increase of value of CC, I see the emergence of more smaller alliances, and less super-large alliances. No nation can afford 10+ MPPs per month... it is not sustainable. Therefore, groups like Asgard will rise in prevalence, in my view of the geo-political world.
Final Ideas...
If you can offer me a good interview, if you are good at graphics and can make me a banner and paragraph breaks, or if you would like to officially endorse this newspaper, I would really appreciate it. Either way, please vote and subscribe.

The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.

Russia is pro CoT
Alliances are not worth the epaper they are written on.
It comes down to the relationship between the countries involved
- and it is not self interest, it is friendship & respect.
CoT = circle of tosspots, who would want to join them
Louise, admins are about to do an update on alliances.. Soon it will be very important to be in one.
Ireland got rejected by Asgard last time.
Thanks for writing Reximus - keep it up - we need more people like you willing to try to jump into discussions like this.
How will we know if it will be important to be in an alliance if we don't know what Plato will do yet.
Maybe it will be some lame change Plato will introduce.
A lot of people believe [some that actually went to the rep meet up] that being in an alliance will give the country benefits for example cheaper MPP's something like that.
Well that would be a good step wonder if that will happen
only time will tell.
I never liked larger alliances anyway I'm a much bigger fan of the smaller reggional alliances
unfortunately then we are limited to an alliance with South Africa and... nope thats it, they are the only people in our region who have any interest in working with us

It was going better for some time. The VAT taxes might be worth revising, at the recommendation of our Minister of Finance. Either way, we have a higher predicted budget than before.
