My Return

Day 1,901, 08:35 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

Good Morning to all of my subscribers who aren't dead yet.

It's been about two and a half a years since I left eRepublik, but I've finally made the decision to come back. For those of you who don't know me I was an active player during the early days of erepublik. I started playing around day 131 and I kept my career for almost 900 days. During that time I was probably most well known for spending eight consecutive months as the party president of the Conservative Party (now defunct) and this newspaper, which at it's peak saw over 5k subscribers. Enough about me though since I know most of you don't care.

I've flirted with the idea of coming back before, however I was able never to maintain the interest for more than a couple hours. Originally, I planed to return to this game as a new citizen in some smaller country with a closer knit community. I thought it would be fun to take one of the new countries and help build them into a regional power. In the end though, it was the community of erepublik that I missed and I was already familiar with some of the community here in the United States. I'm still trying to figure out what the current situation is here with the PTO's and everything, but over the next couple of days I hope to get caught up on everything and start writing articles again.

Now some of you may be wondering why I decided to come back. I will admit that this game has it's fair share of bugs and annoyances and can be downright stressful at times, however the community and long term strategy is what makes this game worth playing. One of the main reasons I was able to stay active for so long was the community and the dynamic nature of the game. Unlike other games which have limited replay value, the situation in erepublik changes almost every day bringing new challenges and stories with it. Throw in a community of active players to socialize with and you get a unique genre of gaming. You can say that this game sucks all you want, but there is a reason why you keep playing it.

In the months leading up to my departure I had grown quite tired of the game. For the most part I was a two clicker for those last few months. I was just looking for an excuse to quit, and when I finally found one I severed all ties with erepublik. The main thing that kept me going at that point was the fact that I was one of the strongest players in the game and I knew that if I quit I would lose that spot. At the same time though, I felt that I had already done most of what I could do in the game so it wasn't worth continuing. Sure enough, within a couple of months I was surpassed in strength by many people and I really had no desire to return.

Now, after two and a half years, I feel the need to return to the game. I won't have anywhere near the influence I had when I left the game, but I am looking forward to the challenge of building myself back up and starting over. I know the game has evolved considerably since I first started, but I know there was something in this game that sparked my interest and kept me coming back for so long. I don't know if this game still has it or not, but either way, I'm going to try and find it.
