Irish Military Reform?

Day 1,721, 21:43 Published in Ireland Ireland by Kurdt Fradenburg

This is my take on a topic that circulates in Irish media these days.
Coming from a elife long paramilitary fighter but also someone who's been involved in MoD on a couple of occassions and got his share of frustrations over it.

So, I'll begin with a short history of my attempts to reform the MoD.

First time I got involved I've set up an IRC chan #IrishDefenceCouncil
made for MU commanders as a place they can get briefed about goverment's actions without issuing orders etc, thus respecting the authonomy of paramilitaries such as Libertad, Irish Citizens Army, Labour's Army..
Well, it failed, there was no real interest in it nor people saw the effects it could have in future.

Second attempt was back when I was a MoD under WHS, a couple of meetings were held ,including CP ,MoD ,MU commanders, MoF's ..it was happening after the changes that brought divisions to us.
We weren't able to come to a specific agreement but the climate seemed suitable for changes and more co-operation on that field.

Where was I wrong? Well, I've made it revolve around commanders, most of them being hotheads (I'd probably be too if in their place) so I've realised it should be oriented towards individuals and their will to join a state MU.

So after reading a couple of Malbekh's articles on this topic I've decided to present my own views on how this reform might be taken.

-Separation of Irish Army to 2 units (div3 and div4)

-Div3 being Ground Forces (an tArm) , div4 being Air Corps or an tAerchór

-each being under command of that months MoD's (as we usually have 2)

-providing steady and good rations along with the country supplies found on IRC to attract more irish citizens in these state units

Div2 unit can be formed in a similar fashion.

So, what are the benefits.
Stronger, more cohesive ,mobile , well organised fighting force under active and apolitic commandship.
Bringing back the fashion of MoD's as commanders being shifted after every elections so to prevent making one man too powerful. Quite similar to consuls of ancient Rome.

Cons? Well if you see any let me know for thats why I wrote the article.

Comments much appreciated
