Irish Military Reform?
Kurdt Fradenburg
This is my take on a topic that circulates in Irish media these days.
Coming from a elife long paramilitary fighter but also someone who's been involved in MoD on a couple of occassions and got his share of frustrations over it.
So, I'll begin with a short history of my attempts to reform the MoD.
First time I got involved I've set up an IRC chan #IrishDefenceCouncil
made for MU commanders as a place they can get briefed about goverment's actions without issuing orders etc, thus respecting the authonomy of paramilitaries such as Libertad, Irish Citizens Army, Labour's Army..
Well, it failed, there was no real interest in it nor people saw the effects it could have in future.
Second attempt was back when I was a MoD under WHS, a couple of meetings were held ,including CP ,MoD ,MU commanders, MoF's ..it was happening after the changes that brought divisions to us.
We weren't able to come to a specific agreement but the climate seemed suitable for changes and more co-operation on that field.
Where was I wrong? Well, I've made it revolve around commanders, most of them being hotheads (I'd probably be too if in their place) so I've realised it should be oriented towards individuals and their will to join a state MU.
So after reading a couple of Malbekh's articles on this topic I've decided to present my own views on how this reform might be taken.
-Separation of Irish Army to 2 units (div3 and div4)
-Div3 being Ground Forces (an tArm) , div4 being Air Corps or an tAerchór
-each being under command of that months MoD's (as we usually have 2)
-providing steady and good rations along with the country supplies found on IRC to attract more irish citizens in these state units
Div2 unit can be formed in a similar fashion.
So, what are the benefits.
Stronger, more cohesive ,mobile , well organised fighting force under active and apolitic commandship.
Bringing back the fashion of MoD's as commanders being shifted after every elections so to prevent making one man too powerful. Quite similar to consuls of ancient Rome.
Cons? Well if you see any let me know for thats why I wrote the article.
Comments much appreciated

mmm we have too many MUs in eIre imo and with 2 new ones this week it seems a forlorn hope.
HEY KURDT.
'what monsie?'
YOURE HOT
'ahahaha stop describing yourself monsie!'
I know, i'm such a kidder
I think a single, but seriously organized MU would be better than 3 new ones. Splitting Divisions by regiment could be quite beneficial.
Thats one of the reasons this reform is needed.
But my point is, let 50 MU's exist, doesnt matter if you have a strong and appealing state MU which people will join.
Ron, the problems I see in having one MU with specialised regiments is being dependant on captains who may or may not be active.
With 2 MU's you'd have MoD's who are more active ready to change orders fast with those orders being adjusted to the division of fighters
say Scotland needs div3 , Dublin div4
Strong state MU means weaker paramilitary groups. Which is great! That's how country should work!
Every serious Commander must have knowledge to put his soldiers in different groups according to their skills, so I think every Commander must be able to reorganise his MU according to latest changes ( Divisions ), so my final point is...we can have one state MU which will be strongest and best organised, there is no need for more MU's financed by state.
Problems are:
Many MU's with proud history who don't want to fall apart
MU's who have their own plans for future
MU's who don't want follow state orders
Solution:
Current supply system. Nothing else :😁
If we already have a state MU, why not make it more effective? 🙂
Nobody's forced to join, its a decision of every individual.
The idea behind the current (and only) State Supply System is that it's 'MU-blind'.
It's far from perfect, but what else can we do? We don't have an 'official' State MU and if we did, and we started biasing government supply toward that MU, the country would tear itself apart.
The MoD team puts ridiculous hours into maintaining the supply system btw, and are very underappreciated for their effort.
People need to understand that the whole point behind 'reform' is not to gain control over the militia, nor do away with the existing structures, nor have a cohesive and logical centralised command structure....
It's all about ensuring we do max damage in a campaign and do it in the right battle at the right time.
We can't do this with the current structure. Period. So either we have to live with being an ineffective military power, or we fix it.
People bang on about their love for this country and their pride and all the other nationalistic crap, but if they really put their country before themselves they would gladly support a national MU under the control of an agreed leader. I can't see this happening soon.....
In the meantime, we go ahead with Plan B
We can have a state MU separated by divisions at the first level. Then the same MU is separated by other MUs. Let's say Kurdt Fradenburg is ingame member of the IA in it's 3rd division regiment but he's a member of the LA.
smash the free state! up the guerilla warfare!
Or we could just really advertise the IA again. Hardly hear about it these days. Government forgotten it exists?
tl;dr
(A)
Just stick them all in the IA, throw Gov money & supplies into it that out match every other irish mu
You could always stop funding MUs other than the state MU, advertise for the state MU, and bias bootcamp heavily towards the state MU.
If we're serious about doing as much damage as we can I don't see why we wouldn't do this. The current system makes our military overly political despite every MU either being practically the same, or a waste of damage because of bad leaders.
Put the politics back into political parties, and let the MUs do the one thing that we all agree must be done.
😁
less MU's seriously we have like 20 fucking MU's that are a waste of gold and money that could be used fighting for EDEN!
