How best NOT to get elected as CP

First of all my congratulations to Horice and the new Government - we've already had articles that are better than anything I could have done, so we shall see where this is headed.
However there are some important points I would like to make to set the record straight.
Allegations have been made in recent days - https://www.erepublik.com/en/article/2612038/1/20 that it is standard practice for TUP to run CP Candidates and expect to win without putting in any effort and it is implied that consequently we've been undeservedly getting people elected to the CP position.
Now people can criticise me for my effort or lack of this month, that's my responsibility, but the criticism that has been hurled at the party cannot be left to stand without a response.
Since I joined TUP over 2 years ago, we have not (to my knowledge) elected one single native candidate to the CP position. Everyone we have backed has either been someone who has previously made their name in another country - Rathena, or another party Adastros and Arrlo (both UKRP). With the exception of a few rogue occasions TUP has not once to my knowledge backed a substandard or joke candidate, unlike some other parties who just put up a candidate every month irrespective of the overwhelming qualities of the leading/other candidates. This is a real gem - June 2016 - Hail Astrid anyone?
Coming back to my decision to run for CP - this was not based on some burning desire to be CP but primarily on the fact that the PP of UKRP contacted me to suggest I run - I actually said no initially because I assumed Arrlo would stand again to continue the work he started. It was only when no one from TUP or the other parties came forward that I changed my mind - my priorities were and had always been - country, then party, then self. I'm not one of these people who are in it for medals - I had often said I would never run for CP and maybe I should have stuck to my guns!
Now some may like to think that this article is a case of sour grapes and making excuses, well you can think what you like - the eWorld doesn't revolve around eUK, I don't need the eUK for my military and economic activities. Contrary to what many think there are plenty of wars outside the eUK and with the exception of 64 food, all my companies are oversees at present as well.

All you are saying in this article is how little you care about the eUK and if it fails you wouldn't care. Is this the plot twist where we find out you were the joke candidate and Horice was the real one?

I did not allege what you have stated I have alleged.
I did not make a comment on how this is a regular occurrence in CP elections for TUP, only that this is complacency which can be seen in other aspects of the party.
What you say is implied is definitely not what was implied. If it comes across that way I can assure you that's not how I meant it. In this one occasion TUP was undeserving in having their candidate elected in this term. I was not passing comment on the last election nor any other election TUP has run in or has won.

Yes, standard complacency which has come from the party. As in the management of the party, in the article I specifically mention how the party managed to lose the #1 spot. I did not refer to elections.
Right ok, well there's no point us arguing about it. I assumed, wrongly apparently, that as the article was about voting in this months CP election and the paragraph containing the relevant phrase was about voting in the election, that was what you were referring to.

Rearranging this into a coherent sentence would probably be more difficult than winning the CP elections.
For me Paul is serious as well as Horice and I don"t mind of Horice won the elections.What I"ve mind is a certain lack of activity of TUP with thoughts,general stances of political situation in eUK and more media presence from TUP which hasn"t happened for a months.
Hell even ESO who is on 6th(was on 3rd some months or half year ago,forgot dates) has been in media more then any other Party from TOP 5.UKRP and UKPP too,BDP the same as TUP.
I think that TUP has been disgusted with the actions of certain people - one now banned, thank heavens. Also, I don't recall any serious proposals coming from any other party either, just joke ones. After a long period under dictatorship, we had it running quite smoothly, why reinvent the wheel?
I think slinging the TUP accusations at you was a little silly. Whilst it's true that TUP were once known to run candidates with the expectation that they'll win, that hasn't happened in so long that I don't think it's reasonable to view the party that way any longer.
I would have supported you Paul, and I still would in future. I was excited that you'd finally stepped up for the CP role. There's just a minimal effort required before I can press that vote button.
Well you won't get another chance. As I say it was a mistake to run, a mix of circumstances and listening to people from other parties - I will not be making that mistake again.

If I had seen atleast one article then I would have seen you as a credible candidate rather than what seemed like a placeholder. I always thought you were a stand up guy Paul, and I mean no disrespect but there was a massive lack of effort. It kinda came off as "Oh its Horice, we don't really need to try". This is how it was to the masses (I happen to be one of them) not the congress or comittee people who have a dialogue with you via other means.
I'm disappointed at how events unfolded, but pleased that Horice won in the end, as it looks like his team have gotten off to a good start.
As Paul writes, I did suggest to him that he should run for CP this month. I've always thought he would make a great President and I still believe that. Paul told me that he had decided to run and I was chuffed, but I didn't initially see a nomination for him from TUP. Then with no articles released about him running, I assumed he had decided that maybe it wasn't time and so I kept our (UKRP) support for Horice.
I hope that when he feels ready (if this experience hasn't completely annoyed him), Paul might run again, but with a bit more prep time perhaps. As I said before I think Paul would definitely be a good choice for the eUK, his level-headedness and knowledge would be huge positives, so hopefully he'll have another go at some point. It took me a few goes before I was elected for my first term and I didn't have Horice to contend with 🙂
I also hope Paul will run again, as he is one of the most experienced, knowledgeable and capable players in this game. One I look to for advice and guidance.

Paul would have made a fantastic President. Maybe not having an official manifesto was something which decided the election - but then again, Horice had no manifesto too which is why we should have thought about both candidates and voted for the one who was more reliable and had more expertise - Paul, in my opinion.
The premise that TUP candidates always expect to win and think the Presidency is a God-given right to them is a fallacy. I ran for President two times and never expected to win easily. I had to fight to win. There certainly was no alleged arrogance in Paul's case either.
Paul Tyndale could be and can be a great (candidate for) CP. But a CP candidate should publish the ideas whereto and how.
The main reason TUP CP candidates are rare is if we in TUP propose a CP candidate, we think it is a serious one.
Long live Horace the ... where is the CP 😛
