Happy Diwali

Day 4,003, 21:51 Published in India Armenia by Bombay bomb

Hello my friends,

In India we will be celebrating Deepavali also popularly known as Diwali, the festival of lights, during this week. The preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. In the Gregorian calendar, the festival generally falls between mid-October and mid-November.

Before Diwali night, people clean, renovate, and decorate their homes and offices. On Diwali night, we Hindus dress up in new clothes or their best outfit, light up diyas (lamps and candles) inside and outside their home, participate in family puja (prayers) typically to Lakshmi – the goddess of wealth and prosperity. After puja, fireworks follow, then a family feast including mithai (sweets), and an exchange of gifts between family members and close friends. Deepavali also marks a major shopping period in nations where it is celebrated.

Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. It is usually made during Diwali

There's always something warm and bright, about this time of the year,
when everything has a special glow, and hearts are full of cheer,
that's why, this special greeting comes your way, to wish you all life's best,
on Diwali and in the coming year, too.

Over the years, due to the increasing levels of noise and air pollution, the Indian authorities are discouraging people from purchasing and Many of the gases and chemicals released by Diwali firecrackers are carcinogenic and major air pollutants like sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide etc.

Children and elderly are more vulnerable than the rest and there's an immediate danger for those with asthma, bronchitis or other respiratory discomforts. Other complications like hearing loss, high blood pressure, sleep disturbances etc. complete the vicious circle of condiments that come along. Fire accidents are a common occurrence during Diwali.

A small spark is enough to set ablaze a whole property/area. Irrespective of how cautious one might be, trivial to serious fire related accidents do take place due to gross misjudgment of the potential dangers associated with firecrackers. The employment of child labourers in firecracker factories across the country isn’t a secret anymore. Often, they work in dangerous conditions. Saying no to firecrackers is the only way to stop it and save these kids.

Let your Sorrows Burst Like Crackers,
your Happiness be like Sparkles,
your Dreams Soar like Rockets
and let your Life be Enlightened by Lamp
Happy Diwali and a prosperous new year ahead.

May the festival of lights add sparkles of joy to your life. Wishing you a Happy Diwali!
