First Presidential Race Speech

Day 2,745, 00:51 Published in Ireland Ireland by Colin Fox

Heh I remember back in mid 2010 when I was turned onto eRepublik after a long hiatus while being fed up with NationStates. This seems like so many years ago now, how much I've grown and how I feel I've grown to this particular eNation. It happened all by accident, innocent of intentions, which makes me pretty damn lucky - luck o' the Irish.

I started out in Minnesota eUSA back in July 2010 I believe. I was not an original eIrish citizen, in real life I migrated from Bonny Rigg Scotland to the States during my early teenage years. I'll leave it at that. I feel I have been through such ups and downs in my life while playing this game and that may have affected how I acted during some periods of time, but I feel we all are quite different than we were 5 years ago. The eUSA was too big for a small noob to immerse themselves into without already being an established in politics. I felt ineffectual and sought to reside elsewhere. I remember precisely my reasoning too back then which seems so absurd to me now but, I chose eIreland because eScotland was still part of eUK and I felt the eIrish were my closest Celtic brethren and ultimately I wanted to dance on the grave of eEngland. Haha I had no idea what was in store for me..

I migrated to eIreland around August-September of 2010 and joined The Labour Party. I was young and looking back not a very good writer but I had a passion for it so I kept writing articles. eRepublik back then was such an exciting time, nations being wiped meant a lot more than economic repercussions but when you were wiped I believe all your parties were deleted or something drastic like that and it really signaled times when eNationalist movement really brought our entire community together. Never will I forget the Great December Revolution and the struggle of the Popular Liberation Front (PLF) and Sons of Eireann (SoE). Only brief moments resemble the spirit that was alive back then, then they evaporate as soon as party negotiations begin. Whatever happened to that revolutionary spirit I don't know, but eIreland needs to unite as a nation again!

As I became more and more involved in politics I started to learn a bit of real Irish history. This sought me to look deeper and into the works of James Connolly, the centuries-long struggle against fighting off the British invaders, and a deeper appreciation for almost everything real life Irish. I love my home of Scotland, but Ireland is the first country I want to visit when I return to the UK. It's revolutionary history inspires me to this day in participating in activism and the international struggle. This particular e-nation influenced my studies in real life into further revolutionary historical analysis and perspective of struggle.

Anyway, I can link you to the whole history of the creation of the ILP but I just need to say that I would have quit this game long ago if I hadn't grown on the community. When I profess Banist ideology I am emphasizing the need for community development. I have always felt that no matter if a country is totally wiped off the map or prospering, the only way to measure the value of an e-nation is by judging the strength of its community. eIreland has always been special and we in fact fought off an attempted MTO very recently, we have proven our capabilities of defending ourselves as a free democratic e-nation!

As President I can promise that I will do everything in my power to prevent an MTO threat while maintaining the people's sovereignty over dictatorships! That is simply not an option, we will not have Congress dissolve into a meta-game just so we can in-fight in it and become ineffectual like we mostly are outside of it. We pull through during critical moments, but how about we pull through during moments that aren't when we're facing a wipe? If we ever want to realize our collective goal then we need to begin to have an open honest dialogue with each other and be willing to ignore minor differences and at least work together on things we all want to achieve.

My next article I will release my cabinet along with more detail of my plans, however I am a people's candidate and beg you for questions to solve - I may not get to all but I will get to all the ones I can. After this Friday I will have graduated my 3rd year at the university and have a month to be very active outside of my work schedule. I got one of those smartphones so I bet I could find an app or log on at work if need be.

Remember that we all have grown during these years and we should be patient with younger players getting into the game. I know this game is getting too old for those of us playing over 3+ years but honestly let's not pick off eager young players - they will grow and learn a lot themselves perhaps beyond just what happens in-game like I did. Keep this in mind as we're guiding the future for these players and allow them room to grow. This benefits us as a community and it may just benefit them in the real life too.

I look forward to a clean mug-sling free country president race this next week. 🙂 I look forward to seeing this community grow and old wounds forgotten. I look forward to the day that eIreland remembers the unity of the December Revolution and new players respect that memory. Maybe five years from now the new players today will be speaking about this day, I didn't expect to play for more than a year and here I am getting closer to six years now. To all the new players, I put my great faith in you to lead the way towards the future eIreland. Now let us old dogs show them the way towards realizing that kind of eIreland again...
