Dealing with the Dangers of the New Capitulation update to Greece

Day 2,594, 14:47 Published in Greece Greece by Yiannis and Vasilis balambani

There is new update coming to erepublik, that comes at the detriment of eGreece and other states that maintain colonies and suffer from imperial overstrech.

Incase you are unaware of the update, it is highlighted in this article by DMV3.

Basically, it will allow a country president the option to capitulate to an invading country, allowing citizens of that country the ability to join the invading countries citizenship.

Potential politically organized resistance reminiscent to the ages before citizenship

Thus, in the case of eGreece our colonies in eEgypt, eSaudi Arabia and eSkopia will be greeted with masses of new ecitizenry, who will either join a resistance movement (implying only they can fight RWs), meaning that they gain their original citizenship after 40% of their original territories are reclaimed, or they can opt for perm citizenship.

In the case of eGreece, total occupation of eSkopia under these conditions will be extremely destabilizing and unpractical, where warfare will extend to political dimensions like vote coordination and coalition governments, rather than purely resource allocation.

eEgypt and eSaudi Arabia can be maintained due to their low number of citizenry aswell as the potential to exploit potential divisions between the eEgyptians, mainly between RL Egyptians and Catalans.

How eGreece MUST present eEgyptian and eSaudi Arabian secession

In addition, eGreece, much like RL Russia (Eurasia), can proclaim itself an ethnofederal republic and grant the Egyptians autonomy in eGreece, with eGreece's role as a defender and protector of eEgypt. This can mainly be performed via the creation of common threats, interests and identities, though would require a degree of historical revisionism.

However, eSkopia will prove to be impossible to integrate within an imperial structure, and will be able to exert influence to eGreece's colonial subjects who will identify with their skopians due to the perceptions of a common oppressor.

THUS, we must either limit our conflict with the Skopians OR we must find divisions and proxies to use against the Skopians. These new rules, will make Greeces ability to keep highly populated countries wiped nearly impossible for any large period of time, and will return the threats of PTOs marginalizing eGreek democracy.

Due to the fact that RL hatreds and ethnic mobilization in a game, especially in regards to the Balkans are contingent on real life mobilization, the only viable option to keep the Skopians occupied is through the division of occupied territories.

This way, the Skopian resistance with the new update will be divided on several fronts and their resistance and political power will be limited depending on the nature of the capitulation update (i.e if Greece and Serbia attack Skopia simulatenously, but Skopia CP capitualtes to Greece). In this case, we can exploit real life animosity between eBulgaria and eSkopia, promising the Bulgars an in game baby boom enemy aswell as a fruit region in the Skopian central region.

Whether or not we can gain Bulgaria as an ally is dependent on our alliance and country diplomacy and the behavior of Bulgaria's allies, though I have always considered them a useful ally, who unlike Serbia, are not bogged down elsewhere and can offer us a kind of insurance should Turkey decide to ever wage war on us (although this at the moment seems contrary to their interests in the Far East).

Another option would be to divide Skopia between eGreece, eSerbia and another strong Asteria/LETO country via airstrike, though again this is dependent on the mechanics of the new update.

Regardless, eGreece should already start negotiating with eEgypt and winning them as an ally and respected partner before the Skopians get the idea, as well as begin coordinating plans and scenarios to deal with this potential threat.

Leaving Skopia unoccupied, will make them a constant threat, which eEgyptians, despite their current weakness will exploit, perhaps even use as a bargaining power now.

I have heard from their media of their negotiations with eGreece, so perhaps ceding eGreek political power to them relative to their in-game population may be a worthwhile idea, should Greece shift its ingame personality to one in which it can maintain a multi-ethnic empire.

I hope this article proves useful in raising these issues,
