Days 4&5 - The Tide Turns

Days 4&5

North America:
Days 4 and 5 brought about large scale victories for America, and for Terra. The American forces, having freshly liberated New Mexico, were able to hold their own in Kansas, regaining initiative against Mexico. America responded by overwhelming the Mexican Occupiers in Missouri, retaking that region in decisive fashion. Oklahoma was also liberated, coming by way of a resistance war.
Mexico has been pushed out of America, and it remains to be seen whether the US will make any sort of dedicated effort to occupy Mexico. They will more than likely attack a Mexican region, if only to retain initiative for a little longer. Also of note, the Saltpeter in Baja and Northwest of Mexico, iis quite tempting, and would be a huge boost to the US weapons manufacturers in this time of war.

Possible American counter-attack and resource grab

Spain, also suffered major losses on days 4 and 5. The American defenders in Illinois held the line, thanks to some heavy tanking by our European Allies, successfully winning rounds during the Spanish prime time. This allowed the Americans the opportunity to regain initiative in the war. With the twin victories in Virgina and Kentucky, Spain has been pushed back all the way to the Atlantic, holding only Maryland.
The US used their initiative to attack, and occupy Galicia. This is major victory for the US and her allies. Previously, Terra and Eden had been helpless against Spanish agression. But the victory in Illinois, may have signaled an improvement in cooperation between the two. The addition of Galicia, means that America now has 2 fish regions, after securing Nova Scotia from longtime ally Canada.

South America:
Brazil is still locked in battle with Spain. After a successful defense of North of Brazil, and counterattack on Canary Islands (also a win), Brazil is in a prolonged battle for Andalucia, Spain. The battle is about to be 7-6, in favor of Spain. Hopefully, an American attack on either Asturias or Castilla y Leon, will distract Spain enough to allow Brazil to take Andalucia.
Also, Poland has declared Brazil as Natural Enemy. The law has not passed yet, but currently has a 28-0 lead. The two nations only border is in the Canary Islands, thanks to Poland’s holdings in Mexico. However, a Resistance War has been started in the region. If this war is successful, it would mean that the border with Brazil would be no more. A lot hinges on that one Resistance war.

Western Europe:

France has seen successive victories along their normal border with Spain. They have successfully won enough resistance wars to sever the Spanish Empire. The former French grain regions, under Spanish control, are now not accessible to the Spanish capitol, Asturias. Also, the loss of Aquitaine means that Spain is without rubber, another economic blow to the nation.

Germany is still almost entirely occupied, although they did regain one region from Belgium.

The entrance of the United States, into the Western Europe theatre, could prove interesting. Whether the US can maintain their advantage, and take control of a Spanish Iron Region remains to be seen. An American victory in Castilla y Leon (iron) and then Cantabria, would completely cutoff the Spanish Capital, and absolutely devastate their economy. Whether Terra and Eden can coordinate well enough to do this, remains to be seen.

Possible American maneuver, devastating Spain’s economy

Overall Analysis:

It is always easier for the defender to win battles on their home turf. Don’t expect America’s recent victories to translate into total domination on the Spanish Mainland. Spain will fight harder to defend her natural regions, then she did to defend her regions in USA.

We know that EDEN plus Terra is stronger than ONE. Whether the two alliances can work together, to cutoff the Spanish Capital from their other regions remains to be seen.
Also, the removal of Canada, from the Eastern US (Pennsylvania and New Jersey), unblocks Poland, who had been previously pinned down. With Poland’s declaration of Natural Enemy with Brazil, everything is riding on the Canary Islands resistance war. If Spain wins, the Poland-Brazil front is dead, and Poland would likely turn their attention towards America. If Brazil wins, Poland would replace Spain as the aggressor in South America, allowing Spain to focus all of her resources towards America.
Neither outcome is desirable, but pay close attention to that battle, as it will signal the direction that this war takes in the coming days.

Who would of thought this speck of land would be so pivotal...
