Sorry to distract you all from the exciting events of this amazing day. Not least of which is of course the close presidential election! Good luck, by the way, to Snake and Patton as the election enters the final hours.
Well, I was contacted this evening by Sir Botham. He had this message for me:

I think this is a fun and interesting thing we could do and I hope you are interested too. Information can be found in the above newspaper but I'll try to quickly explain some parts of the game:
-A team is made up of 11 players. Some bat, some bowl and some do both.
-Each player is given 50 points and can allocate these points to either batting or bowling or a combination of both. Of course not everyone can bat and not everyone can bowl so there is a captain.
-So one must also decide on:
1. Right or left handed batsmen.
2. How many points for batting (zero can be selected, 50 points maximum)?
3. How many points for bowling (zero can be selected, 50 points maximum)?
4. Bowling type.
For more information, please read the newspaper I mentioned above or contact Sir Botham as I really don't understand it fully myself so I'm unlikely to be able to answer your questions.
So, please contact me or Sir Botham as soon as possible if you're interested in playing as I'm really excited about having an Irish team for this.

Yeah I hate it in RL too but this might be fun.
I have no knowledge of the sport beyond having seen it in a few movies : ( How lacking of culture I am ha.

Lets get a freaking Rugby team that sounds better. No offense but Cricket is the most boring and wimpy sport ive seen in my life. Ive even played it myself to see what its like, and it sucks even then. Rugby, I vote Rugby

Look, I hate cricket too. But this is not gonna be like real cricket. All you do is pick your batting and bowling skills and a few other things and a programme will simulate the rest. That won't be half as boring as the real cricket.
Sounds good John, eIreland just needs some Aussie imports like their RL cricket team! I'll give Botham a buzz
Ok boys and girls. I'll step up to the plate and put myself forward as captain of the eIrish Cricket team. I'll make it really simple, just PM me with your interest in playing and whether you want to be a batsman, bowler or bit of both. If you can't be bothered reading Bothams page of the rules, I'll assign your 50 points for you (based off the stats of the RL Irish national cricket team. So, with myself and John on board, we need 9 more players. Let me know ASAP, they want to get this competition started
