As we all know now Japan and Montenegro both Nebula members, have launched an Airstrike on Belgium. Normally I would not like to be a single person going against the entire tide of his alliance, however I feel I must use my political weight to counter this inappropriate act of aggression on Belgium. I know this could very well cost me what standing I did have in our alliance but so be it, I accept the consequences this will have for my own political career here in Norway and in Nebula.
I want to first look to Nebula's Charter to make my case.
Section 3 Article A: NEBULA is primarily a defensive alliance. The main focus is to defend and protect alliance member nations against hostile foreign invaders.
I think this speaks clearly for itself.
Section 3 Article D : "Top priority is reserved to any alliance member nation(s) in crisis. All other priorities will be focused on assisting ASTERIA and her allies."
Japan and Montenegro are not in a "crisis" so other Nebula members are not obligated under our Charter to aid them in this Airstrike.
Norwegian Rental Deal: We are fortunate enough to have turned a once long time rivalry with the UK into a friendship that has benefited both of our nations. This deal is worth $60,000cc a month and has brought stability to The North. I do not want to see this friendship put in jeopardy over this pointless war.
Now I know people are saying we need to aid our allies, after all they just helped us defeat the Mexican Airstrike. In no way do I want this to sound disrespectful to our allies. I have worked very hard on our relations with Japan during my time in government over the past year and I do not want to jeopardize this. But all I am asking you to do is open your eyes.
Being smaller nations we know better than anyone what it is like to be invaded by someone much bigger, and much stronger who wants to take your home and resources away. How much better are we than those very countries which have wiped us time after time if we do the exact same thing? Airstriking a country which has airstriked us in retaliation is a lot different.
Nebula was founded to give us smaller nations a fighting chance by putting our fate in our own hands. Unfortunately this act of aggression has painted us in a bad light in the international community and this very AS goes against our very own alliance's values of trying to keep smaller nations in this game intact. I hope in the future HQ will take more of a direct role in ensuring situations like this do not happen again in the future.
Dutch Invasion Rumours: I just want to go on the record and say that the rumours I have seen that Japan and Montenegro are using Belgium to launch an invasion of the Netherlands are completely unfounded and untrue. Somebody with their back against the wall will say anything to get out of a tough situation. Now I know because you are allies you will still fight for them but please know that these rumours are simply not true.
Just think about it. How would Belgium even get a hold of this kind of intel? Ask for their sources and screenshots, I bet they cannot provide any.
I know our allies will feel like this is an act of betrayal as well as HQ, but to be fair HQ was never fond of me to begin with. I would like to ask everyone with a clear conscience to not take part in this war of aggression. I know this Viking's axe will stay stay clean during this war, will yours?

I am nobody into norwegian community. But if we are going to wash our dirty clothes publicly, we are betraying the principal point in an alliance: trust. If we have to say something to our allies, first we must make it privately.

I am only giving my own opinion. I am not in charge of Norway, nor am I in HQ. My opinions are my own. I am only supporting those who have the same opinion all over the world who have already publicly made their support, including half of Japan.

I completely agree. Norway comes first before our alliance. It seems to reason that the actions of our allies put our peace at risk without our consent. And in doing that, how is that different than a direct act of aggression towards a friend?

I'm positively surprised by your honesty and openness and very glad you're give us this letter to think about. Thank you.
But: Even though I fully agree with you, I kind of can understand the wish for a real war as well. Training wars just aren't any real (substantial?) wars that give communities something to fight for, a goal if you want. This doesn't seem to be the case with Japan's AS anyway as half their community seem to be opposing it. Yet, it's still valid to wish for real wars.
It doesn't help when some higher ups in NEBULA have been pushing for offensive actions against countries
And then insulting/slagging off the governments because they refuse to do AS just for 'lolz'

when you defend a lot, you have a situation, in the end you are bored without action. They are more facilities to attack a little country. Last time it was Montenegro alone with 3 new big mpp (they attacked eGermany after) Sure we can't win with countries from Asteria in front. We can't have the help of the rest of the eworld, they have their battles too. It's the game.

We are fortunate to have a very diplomatic past, a big network and a good relation with influent people who were once eBelgians or just even IRC friends, so that we have that sort of intel isn't really surprising. Our source was the first to warn us about that double AS and he was right. I won't express myself on whether that attack on eNL is true, but we're playing with the info we have and we're not inventing truth because we have our back on the wall (we shouldn't even need such arguments to win our allies over, being a member of NSPP).
Telling someone something that isn't true is simply called lying. Like I said If you can prove it with your big network of friends, then by all means, make me eat my words. Until then, I will view all those rumours as lies.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
I.e. if the eNetherlands get attacked soon by eJapan or eMontenegro, we'll believe the Belgian's story about that being the plan all along, even though their source is apparently confidential.
If we are not attacked at all, we'll believe your side of the story: that it was just speculation. Note: not lies, that's something that also requires evidence.
In any case, Chihiroh's remark about NSPP is correct. There's absolutely no need to make up threats to convince us. We'd have come to eBelgium's aid no matter what, as we're obligated to do so by the NSPP treaty. And probably we would have even without the NSPP, because Belgium is a good neighbour, with whom we've had a nice training war recently.
You've got the truth served on a silver plate right there. Someone told us that 1. We'll get double-AS'd by MNE and JAP, and 2. They will use that lever to continue on another country. Seeing as he was right on the first point, the eBE gov deemed it sensible to warn allies about second point. Nor I nor the eBe govt guarantees the truth of it and you can certainly criticize the tone of certainty with which it was announced. But the fact that we have been given that info is true. Your claim that we invent info to deceive our allies is an assumption from your part that is both unfounded and rather insulting. I dislike lies at least as much as you do, and you have to put yourself under the same standard as you put others. I think our gov jumped the gun, and also that you've done the same with your accusations.

@Joshua, Chihiroh knows, and since she spit it out that we HAD INTEL about this prior the ASs, the only right thing I can do right now is return the favor and defend her claims. I agree and stand behind all she said here. I cannot post or give the original ss's, but I'll private message you with ss's from our inner Govt. discussions on the matter, do what you think is right with them. I think those will be enough for you to be convinced about her claims.

Section 3 Article A,bla,bla,bla... Speaks clearly what? It's everything but clear,it says "primarily",not "strictly". That's because you cannot simply limit a nation to being caged within its borders,territorial expansion is one amongst many points of this game.
Section 3 Article D...Truth to be told,we didn't expect anyone from Nebula to fight for eJapan in the first place. We didn't even rely on that possibility.

Why would we even care about eBelgium? They are not in our alliance,have no relationship whatsoever with our alliance and the most annoying thing is Nebula people crying over AS on eBelgium. Your deal wih eUK is a "friendship" like you said,and if it's "friendship" I don't see how this affects it? You're just making pathetic excuses to make a public denunciation of eJapan and eMontenegro.
Your deals and fake sense of morality will not prevent us from playing this game and as for Nebula HQ you're right on one point: You should really GTFO.
