[The Guild] Joint Statement on Recent Affairs

Day 1,892, 06:53 Published in Ireland Ireland by Stilpo

Greetings eIreland,

The following is a joint statement by the leadership of the Independent Labour Party, Saoirse, the Irish Freedom Party, Eire Aonair, the Irish Union Party and Independent Voices regarding the conflict surrounding the recent PTO of The Patriots Party.

Statement:

(1a) We officially recognize that the recent election of Mr. Jack X to the presidency of The Patriots party was a deliberate and organized political take-over or “PTO” by Mr. Jack X and certain members of Saoirse. (1b) We hereby condemn this action and do not recognize the leadership of Mr. Jack X to be legitimate. (1c) However, we do understand that the PTO was motivated by an internal conflict between Irish factions, and thus far have no reason to believe that it was organized by foreign nationalist forces seeking to expand external influence in Ireland. (1d) In addition, we recognize that the PTO was a product of a sub-faction of individuals within the current party and understand that it was not officially organized or condoned by the entire party or its current leadership. (1e) Finally, we make an important distinction between the action itself, which we condemn to be unethical and undemocratic, and the underlying motivations behind the actions, which we recognize to be based on legitimate grievances that still need resolving (see section 5).

(2a) We recommend that Mr. Jack X resign as president of The Patriots and return control of the party to its original members. (2b) If Mr. Jack X remains president of The Patriots, we demand and require that The Patriots remain strictly neutral in the upcoming CP elections as a show of good faith to the Irish people. Failure to do so will give credence to arguments that the PTO was motivated by reasons other than personal feuds and that it poses a genuine and significant national security threat to Ireland.

(3a) In addition to condemning the recent PTO of The Patriots, we also recognize and condemn the attempted PTO of Eire Aonair by certain members of The Patriots. Although this PTO attempt did not succeed, we still view it as an affront to democracy in Ireland and recognize it as very concerning to members of all other parties. (3b) However, we also recognize that it was a product of a sub-faction of individuals within the current party and understand that it was not officially organized or condoned by the entire party or its leadership.

(4a) We demand an end to the undemocratic and unethical practice of PTO in Ireland in general, and hereby pledge our mutual support and party resources to actively counter any PTO attempt of any active party in the future.

(5a) We recognize that in the weeks leading up to the aforementioned political incident(s), certain prominent members of The Patriots - foremost among them Mr. Padraig Pearse - engaged in malicious trolling against certain eIrish citizens of eCroatian origin, and that this trolling was both a primary reason for The Psych0 leaving Ireland and a major motivation behind the PTO of The Patriots by Jack X and other aggrieved individuals. (5b) We further recognize that this trolling included race-based insults and other content that was deliberately intended to inflame passions and stir up xenophobic sentiment against croatians in within Ireland. (5c) We condemn such race-based trolling and the promotion of xenophobia in Ireland, and demand that it immediately cease.

(6a) We also recognize, however, that significant personal insults were exchanged between both sides at various points in this conflict and that no side was truly innocent in this affair. (6b ) We consider both forms of trolling/flaming to be unproductive and unnecessarily divisive in our community, and strongly recommend their immediate secession (or at the very least a significant reduction in use) throughout all factions in Ireland. (6c) To facilitate this change, all future incidents involving obvious trolling & flaming by party leaders toward out-party citizens or groups will be noted and and logged by the Guild for future reference.

Thank you for reading.

Special Note: This statement was a product of enormous time, effort and compromise from all party leaders who participated. A special thanks also goes to Brian Boru, who helped moderate and guide the negotiations.
