[The Golden Bicycle] Technological Difficulties
Gwom
(Geen Nederlandse versie vanwege gebrek aan tijd.... Het spijt me...)
Hello eNetherlands,
A few days ago I tried to start my computer. But it failed. So I tried again, but no change in result. After some hours of pushing buttons and unplugging power chords I tried an impeachment against my computer. But he didn't listen. Even a Motion of No Confidence didn't help...
Suddenly I found the horrible truth. My harddrive didn't run. So I tried thousands of things to get it running. But nothing worked.
I lost all my files. That is why I need to cancel The Golden Bicycle Autumn Edition. The nominated persons will compete in the next edition.
Until my harddrive gets fixed, I will be very inactive in-game. But I'll try to check the forum on my mobile phone.
Sincerely,
Gwom
PS: If anybody knows a way to retrieve my files from the broken harddrive, please let me know!

you have companies specialising in that retreiving stuff. its possible
R.I.P. for Gwoms harddrive.
buy another...
some people can't spare the money
RIP in pieces Gwom's harddrive :'(
There is a chance you can access it if only the part needed for your PC system (windows for instance) fails if you set it as secondary disk. You have to boot from a new disk (or in another PC).
Or try to use another boot device (could even be an installation disk, but don't start installing) and see if you can access the disk or are able to see information about it.
I had it once and could access all files normally when I installed the disk in another PC and could retrieve everything.
Also there are several programs you can use to retrieve data from damaged disks. File Scavenger for instance. And of course there are firms that can do it for you like Walhallah stated.
Good luck!
Thanks mate! It worked! I bought another hard drive, installed windows on it. And then I could read my broken hard drive as secondary hard drive!
Not all files are working, some things are corrupted. But I retrieved almost all my important files.
Long Live Weekstrom!
make sure to scan the old hard disk, most manufacturers have programs for that. it might have just been a software error. if that is the case you could still use it.
Good news. Glad it helped!
I don't know the age of the old disk but I recommend you to be very cautious using it again when it comes to important data. Although luckily most people will never face it they do break down. And if several different parts/files are damaged I wouldn't be one to trust the disk again. If it would be only one important part in the boot section that was damaged causing booting to fail and the rest would all be readable it's likely only to be a bad cluster or something like a software error. Not being able to recover several files suggests bigger problems I think.
lol shame man that's crap
