[TB4CP] Hoping Against Hope

Day 3,087, 17:39 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

I must apologize to the nation for the lackluster campaign I have put forward this last week. I deliberately loaded myself up this month because schedule, energy, and plans all aligned. I ran for Party President of the Federalist Party and managed to tie Greene12 for the most terms in that office over the history of our Party. I have enjoyed serving as ambassador to our Spanish Speaking brethren in Latin America. I have also enjoyed helping to start eNPR back up these last few weeks. Yui our invaluable NSC Co-Chair and eNPR technician has managed to solve the dilemma of where to host eNPR. Blog Talk Radio is rather expensive and in the past did not have the highest quality or reliability. Yui has given an option that is free, easy to use, and of good quality.

So the month of May started out looking so promising. Then we had the much debated USAF Command incident. Much has already been said on it, and I will not be adding my thoughts on the matter. Melissa our current President has been able to work out a solution I believe will give our National MU every chance to be successful. To top off this drama, I made the decision to put down the dog we took home more than 10 years ago while I was fighting cancer. I would lay on the couch awash in waves of pain, nausea, and despair. Scooter (that’s his name) would sense my suffering, hop on the back pillows of the couch, and lay his head on my chest. I would pet him and suddenly everything seemed bearable. That dog helped save my life and after more than a decade I had to make the decision to say goodbye to him. To top this week off I told my wife of near 11 years I would be filing for divorce. I have had easier weeks.

Often times in this game we get caught up in personas. It is rare that we allow too much of who we really are on the other side of the computer screen to show through. This is understandable as it is a game, one which provides each of us opportunities to if not reinvent ourselves, to allow our best selves to shine. Many of us will never be Secretary of State, Senators, President, Newspaper Editors, Counterculture Rebels, War Heroes, or even Dastardly Villains, but we can be some, most, or depending on perspective all of these things. It’s quite remarkable when you think about it.

However, we can also forget that behind the personas in this game is a person. A complicated, flawed, living being with friends, family, and people who love him or her. I believe that is a large part of why you can see so much vitriol at times in our community. One rule of thumb I have adopted fairly early on in my eRepublik adventures is to try getting to know someone away from the Congress boards before deciding whether or not I like them. I have also learned not to make snap judgements on people. Several years ago I did not like Tenshibo or Aramec very much at all, and I can safely say they returned my dislike with a fervor matching my own. Today I can honestly say Tenshibo and Aramec are two of my closest friends in this game.

Over the begining of this Party President term there has been a dialogue between the Top 5 Parties with the honorable Custer representing his OhFuks who routinely send delegates to Congress. The topic of discussion was on healing the growing rifts in our community. To really accomplish this I believe we must strive for more inclusion rather than exclusion whenever possible. I have used this analogy often but there is a reason Homeowners usually treat the four walls they dwell within better than a renter does. The renter has no real stake in things. The apartment, condo, or house they dwell in is just a temporary landing place for them. Whereas a Homeowner considers the property just that their HOME.

I want all groups within the eUSA to consider this country their HOME. I want them to be invested in our success as a nation. The only way to do that is to allow them to participate in the making of laws, decisions, and governing of the eUSA. Even if and possibly especially if you do not necessarily agree with their philosophy and/or point of view. This nation is in need of willing hands and fresh creativity. It is a good thing we do not all agree and view things the exact same way. With the upcoming resource wars we will need all hands on deck to ensure we take advantage of our uniquely enviable position on the globe.

I am what I would call a planner. I am not as organized or flashy as some well known players in the eUSA. My methodology of Leadership in eRepublik is to get a general idea or outline of a project or what I would like accomplished. I then find and recruit what I believe to be the right people for the job and allow them to use their talents to accomplish the goal the best way they see to do so. I will not claim credit for the successes of MrCarey but I see him as a perfect example of this.

I first got to know MrCarey when I was running for President of the eUSA September of 2014. He was a staffer for the WTP Media department and asked to interview me for their newsletter. I was impressed with him and asked him to write for the WHPR which he agreed to do. A few weeks later he brought it to my attention that my Secretary of Education was not supplying the programs that department was over. So I invited him to be Secretary of Education to replace the absentee occupant. He accepted and excelled. He went into two click mode for a while, but after a while he resurfaced just in time for the last CP run I did. I approached him about the Chief of Staff for my administration. I knew from his tenure as SecEd that he was meticulous, organized, and very detail oriented. He did a fantastic job and since been asked to fill that role on several more occasions. I consider him to be a very good friend and a strong contender for the office of CP should he decide to go for it again.

This month has been a little different. Resource Wars start on the 6th which thanks to the new 24 hour vote count will be Melissa Rose’s last day in office rather than my first. She and her team have given me and the country an epic assist in how hard they have worked and planned for the waging of resource wars that will not even be occurring on their watch. I did not endorse Melissa Rose for President this month. I can tell you today I should have. I think DMJ was a strong player and an invaluable contributor to the eUSA for years. However, Melissa has made the hard decisions this month, put in the time and effort to strongly position us for the Resource wars. She has been exactly what this nation needed when we need it. She had more than a few curveballs thrown her way but rose to each and every occasion.

I am hoping against hope that we will be experiencing a rebirth here in eRepublik. I miss the days of hundreds upon hundreds of active citizens in each Party let alone the community. I am hoping against hope that the days of cutting and pasting as the game withers around us are coming to an end. I am hoping against hope that we have an incoming flood of new players to revitalize us. I am hoping against hope that we see some of the old very dear friends who hit the exits in the last few years come back and want to be a part of the upcoming changes.

Traditionally a Cabinet is unveiled in an article as part of the campaign. I will do so, but before I do I will be announcing my Cabinet during tomorrow’s episode of eNPR the show will start at 6:30 PM eRepublik time. It will be the last show I host before likely Melissa Rose switches places with me.

Lastly I want to acknowledge the endorsements give to me by the USWP, SFP, AMP, the AFA, and my own Federalist Party. I have always enjoyed strong support within the ranks of USWP and I appreciate the continued support and friendship from their Party. The SFP is a Party that I have never won during my previous runs for the White House. They are a group that I have come to like quite a bit. As I have stated our political goals and aims are not always the same, but they are a sincere hardworking bunch who I believe to be a strong asset to the eUSA, and I thank them very much for their vote of confidence. The AMP and I have had a long not pretty history. I have also never won their Party in any past runs for CP, and in fact almost dreaded opening the traditional Q&A with them because I knew they more than any Party would take it to me. I am thrilled that relations with the AMP have thawed so much and I am honored to have their support. Lastly the AFA is a Party that has supported me in the past, but we also have come a long way. Several years ago I was a frequent pick for Secretary of Homeland Security. I pursued my duties in that office with zeal and enthusiasm. Month after month I organized and executed ATO operations against their Party. Finally just over two years ago we began negotiations. The AFA has upheld their end of the deal I struck with them so long ago admirably. I thank them for their support.

Once again there is so much to be said for laying aside old grievances, grudges, and political axes. There is so much potential for positivity, friendship, growth, and opportunity if we lay aside past pettiness, view each other as people (because that is what we all are), and work together. Diversity in nearly every setting is a strength not a weakness. I have been President of this Country enough times to know there is no silver bullet that will fix our ills once and for all. However I have learned that one Cabinet, one Term, and one team that works well together can have a long and lasting impact. My last term as CP taught me that. My ultimate goal other than kicking some epic ass in the resource wars is to assemble yet another Cabinet that likes and respects each other enough that they again build lasting friendships across Party lines. That is why I am asking for your vote on May 5th.
