[PT|EN] Porque apoio o Pacto Ibérico / Why do I support the Iberian pact

Como é sabido, foi assinado o Pacto Ibérico, na verdade um NAP com eEspanha com condições à partida bastante negativas para ePortugal.

Por onde começar?

ePortugal recuperará apenas 4 das 7 regiões
ePortugal ficará dependente de eEspanha para assinar novos MPPs
ePortugal será forçado a assinar vários MPPs com os países TwO e AcT
ePortugal terá de entregar uma caução de 500K CC como garantia de cumprimento do acordo.

Após o choque inicial e algumas conversas no IRC, comecei realmente a ponderar sobre a situação de ePortugal pré e pós acordo.

A meu ver, ter 4 regiões sempre será melhor do que estar em wipe, uma vez que nos permitirá ter um congresso e dar alguma moral a novatos (como eu) que sempre conheceram ePortugal em wipe 🙂

Os 500K CC, se todo o acordo for desenrolado da maneira pretendida, até poderão vir a ser devolvidos. Numa análise rápida, e colocando-me do lado espanhol, vejo essa caução como uma garantia de que não estaremos a negociar apenas para garantir um congresso, mas sim para garantir algo futuro.

Para mim, a grande parte negativa deste acordo não tem a ver só com a submissão a eEspanha (sejamos sinceros, submetidos estamos há muito tempo), mas principalmente com os MPPs que seremos forçados a assinar e que não só nos limitarão financeiramente, como também nos limitarão na escolha de um lado em conflitos futuros uma vez que todos os acordos existentes serão com países TwO e AcT.

Agora, porque apoio este acordo?

Nos 2 meses e pouco que tenho de eRepublik, tudo o que vi de ePortugal é um wipe constante e pouca vontade de fazer algo que realmente possa mudar a situação para além de dezenas de RWs inconsequentes e centenas de artigos inflamatórios entre os vários utilizadores (quer membros de governo quer oposição)!

Hoje, pela primeira vez senti que foi dado um passo. Foi na melhor direcção? Isso será algo que só o tempo o dirá, mas um dos meus lemas favoritos diz-me que um passo que seja em qualquer direcção (mesmo na errada) é sempre uma opção melhor do que permanecer imóvel toda a vida.

Agora vejo um rumo para ePortugal, ainda que seja do lado do nosso inimigo de sempre e associados a uma aliança que no momento nos tem mantido em wipe.

Olhando para as restantes hipóteses, quais serão as cartas na nossa mesa?

Uma aproximação à CUA seria uma hipótese devido aos laços existentes, mas qual o peso da CUA actualmente e qual a capacidade que teriam em superar os conflitos na América do Sul e apoiar ePortugal?

Uma aproximação à CoT teria as mesmas consequências que a TwO e duvido que a CoT conseguisse ter força suficiente para garantir territórios a ePortugal, quer por via diplomática quer por via militar

Uma aproximação a outros aliados neutrais deixaria ePortugal na mesma situação em que se encontra hoje em dia, sem rumo, sem apoios e em wipe, pois ninguém arriscaria a sua posição para ajudar um país pequeno como nós.

Qual o nosso futuro? TwO? Anti-TwO? CoT?

O tempo aqui será o nosso melhor conselheiro, mas julgo que neste momento é tempo de respeitar o acordo e perceber para que lado o vento soprará no futuro.

Ao mesmo tempo que estou a escrever está a decorrer uma proposta no congresso croata para saída da EDEN, sendo que a meu ver, mais cedo ou mais tarde (consoante o tempo que a EDEN demorar a capitular), vamos ter um conflito CoT - TwO e aí deveremos ter presente qual o lado pelo qual nos queremos ligar.
Quem sabe a TwO não poderá acabar por ser uma vantagem para o nosso lado nessa altura?

Resumindo, este primeiro passo já foi dado e cabe a ePortugal dar-lhe seguimento, respeitar o acordo e tentar retirar dele o maior proveito possível. Quando os ventos mudarem de direcção, bastar-nos-à ajustar as velas.

A quem for criticar este artigo gostaria de ouvir não só as críticas, mas também uma opinião construtiva sobre uma alternativa viável.

Numa última nota gostaria de referir o nosso CP.
Até hoje optei por não enveredar por um partido político em particular, pela simples razão de que aqui, tal como na vida real, um político preocupa-se primeiro em ser reeleito, em segundo em ser reeleito e em terceiro no melhor do país.
O GossypPT provou-me o errado. Tenho de admitir que foi tomada uma decisão de coragem, que se sabia ir chocar 90% dos ePortugueses e que se sabia ir condicionar fortemente a sua reeleição.

As it is known, Portugal and Spain signed the Iberian Treaty, which is no more than an NAP with eSpain with some negative conditions for ePortugal.

Where to start with?

ePortugal will only get back 4 of its 7 regions
ePortugal will need eSpain's approval to sign new MPPs
ePortugal will need to sign several MPPs with TwO and AcT countries
ePortugal will have to deliver 500k CC as a warranty for the respect of the treaty

After the initial chock and some conversations with other members, I really began to wonder about ePortugal's situation before and after the deal.

In my point of view, having 4 regions will always be better than wipe, since it will allow us to have a congress and boost some morale to newbies (like me) that always knew ePortugal in wipe 🙂

The 500K CC, if the treaty will be accomplished as intended, can be returned. In a quick analysis, and looking to this as if in the eSpain's side, I would see it as a warranty to guarantee that ePortugal is not negotiating in blank just to have access to a congress, but to guarantee some future

To me, the most negative part of this treaty is not only the submission to eSpain (to be honest, we are submitted for too long), but mainly the MPPs we will be forced to sign and will have a financial and political cost, since for any future conflicts that burst, we will only have MPPs with TwO and AcT countries.

Now, why do I even support this deal?

In the 2 months I've been in eRepublik, all I've seen from ePortugal is a constant wipe and little willpower fo really do something that can change the situation besides inconsequential RWs and hundreds of inflammatory articles between users (both government and opposition)

Today, for the first time I felt that someone took a step. Was it in the correct direction? This is something only time can answer, but one of my favorite mantras tells me that a step in any direction (even the wrong one) is always better than standing still the entire life.

Now I can see a path for ePortugal, even if we are siding with our all-time enemy and associated with an alliance who kept us in wipe for so long.

Looking for the remaining options, what chances do we got?

An approach to CUA could be a chance due to existing friendship bonds, but what is the actual CUA weight and its capacity to overcome the South American conflicts and help ePortugal?

An approach to Cot would bring the same consequences as the TwO one and I doubt that CoT would manage to influence TwO either military of politically to give us back some territories

An approach to other neutral allies would leave ePortugal in the same situation, without a course, without support and in wipe, because no one would risk a conflict to help a small country like us.


What is our future then? TwO? Anti-TwO? Cot?

Time would be the best counselor on this one, but I think the moment calls to respect the treaty and understand where the wind will blow on the future.

At the same time I'm writing this, there is a proposal in the Croatian congress to leave EDEN, leaving the doors open to a future (how long it depends on how much time will EDEN last) conflict between CoT and TwO where we will need to take a side.
Who knows if our association with TwO will not prove an advantage then.

Long story short, the first step has been taken and ePortugal must follow suit, respect the deal and try to milk it for the best possible profit. When the winds change, we only need to adjust our sails.

To those who will be criticizing this article, I would like to hear not only the criticism, but also a constructive opinion about a credible option.


On this last note, I would like to name our CP.
Until today I refrained from taken a political party in particular for the simple reason that, like in real life, a political worries about re-election, then about re-election and then about the best for its country.
GossypPT has proven me wrong. I have to admit this was a courageous decision, that it would chock 90% of the ePortuguese and that it would seriously compromise his re-election.
