[PotUS] Day 2706 General Address

Day 2,706, 21:09 Published in USA USA by Trekker Tlumac

Greetings my fellow Americans, and friends,

Here it is on the eve of day 2706 and today marks me 12th day in office. In these past 12 days I have tried to serve the American people to the best of my abilities. I have found that I have the ability to serve confirmed in my being.

The Foreign Affairs is something I expected. And, as disclosed previously, my first few days were filled with a lot more talk than I expected. Since that time, Foreign Affairs communications have dulled to a mild roar. Each day I have more messages from Foreign Dignitaries and other Executives, but no longer is it the onslaught of 30 or more messages a day, each requiring a unique response.

I have, however, seen a great upswing in the number of messages I have received about citizenship.

I find that I like these messages more than diplomatic messages. This is not because I find diplomacy boring. To the contrary, I find diplomacy and global affairs fascinating. The reason that the citizenship messages are more enjoyable is due to the service I get to render in helping people.

Invariably I refer all people to IES and include the IES links package (application, instructions, status board, regulations). Usually my initial reply is pretty basic and well rehearsed by this point (15 terms in congress will give you much time to perfect you CS request response). When there are followup questions, those are answered as well. This is all basic stuff all in civil service should be willing to do (more on that later).

Where the process really shines is in the replies received giving thanks for the help. Often enough it is later explained that until then no one had bothered to explain to them that IES was a thing.

On these moments it is when I feel that I have made a difference.

Back to that wonderful beast that is Civil Service.

By civil service, I mean any elected official(Congress, Party Presidents, Country Presidents) or person put into a job in which they work directly for the better of the people (IES, Cabinet members and their aides).

Civil service is not a vocation for those wishing to stroke their own ego at all times. In its lower levels it is miserable and thankless. At the highest level it becomes a place where everyone wants a favor. And the only time anyone really pays attention to what is going on is when someone screws up or when someone is hoping someone else will. Through all that the key is to remembering that service to the people is paramount.

To this end I firmly believe that one must always listen to those wishing to speak. While most of the time there is nothing to be done to change what is going on, the fact that someone out there cares enough to listen is often enough.

Typical CS Reponse:

"Thank for you inquiry.

You will need to go through the IES process before I can approve your citizenship. I have included the links you will need to do this. Please feel free to ask any further questions needed.
