[NFTF] USA Wiped, Canada & Brazil not far Behind?

Day 1,320, 04:04 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Baldrick1

Due to me having far too much time on my hands I've decided to bring News From the Front back. But get this, its now weekly! Revolutionary stuff right here!

Anywho, here's what's been happening this week.

Greece has spent the week knocking heads with their Macedonian occupiers. On day 1,315 they managed to liberate Central Greece. However, Macedonia promptly NE'd Greece and reconquered the territory. Following that they have seemingly been playing a game of cat & mouse, with RW'd regions such as Attica, Peloponnese and Thessaly being reconquered shortly after liberation. Earlier Greece's last region Crete was captured, once again wiping Greece from the map.

This week Russia has managed to regain 3 of its original regions. The Urals on Day 1,315 from Lithuania, Moscow and Central Russia on Day 1,318 from Latvia and finally Volga Vyatka on Day 1,318 from Turkey.

Lithuania has spent the week hammering on Western Siberia, while Russia has in turn been hammering on Lithuanian occupied Northern Russia. Both having no joy.

Hungary has finally decided to connect up its territories in Southern France. Germany managed to RW Baden-Wurttemburg, Hesse and Bavaria from Slovakia. Unfortunately it seems Hungary means to swallow them up, taking Baden-Wurttemberg and currently attacking Bavaria.

With the demise of the US, Canada has been left rather exposed. After causing a fair bit of grief for invading forces to the south by swapping territory with the US in an effort to keep them on the map, they haven't made themselves very popular.

Poland was first to bite, taking New Brunswick and later Nova Scotia. Indonesia then took British Columbia on the push northwards along the west coast. Poland then took Quebec and Nunavut, while Indonesia decided that they quite fancied Yukon.

With much of their land occupied Canada made a proposal to the UK to region swap some of their colonies in Ireland. The UK would get valuable resources and in return Canada would have Shannon as a backup in the event they lost all N. American regions. The UK refused and, after a somewhat ambitious attempt by Canada to take the Shannon, attacked and captured Newfoundland and Labrador.

In the meantime Poland captured Ontario but Canadian resistance fighters captured New Brunswick. Indonesia pushed east taking Alberta and, not long after it's liberation, Poland reconquered New Brunswick.

The UK preceded onto Prince Edward Island and captured it. Currently Poland have attacked Manitoba, and seem likely to win it. While Indonesia have attacked Idaho.

The US did initially see some success this week with RW's undertaken in California, Texas and North Dakota. However, after liberation ONE had little difficulty in recapturing them. The forces of Spain, Poland, Indonesia and Hungary have now divided up the USA, with Indonesia in the west, Hungary in the south-east, Poland in the north-east and Spain central. After Spains capture of Minnesota the final US region was Hawaii, Indonesia was left to deal with it. Finally, on Day 1,319 the fall of Hawaii meant the USA was wiped, for the first time in eRepublik history.

A number of RW's had been started by US forces in Hungarian occupied Oklahoma and Polish occupied Maine and Indonesian occupied Arizona. ONE forces managed to defend both Oklahoma and Maine. However, Arizona was liberated shortly after the US wipe, putting the US back on the map. Currently another RW has been started in Indonesian occupied California, which seems very much in US favour.

EDIT: Both Arizona and California were returned to US control by Indonesia.

New Zealand has been rather busy this past week. With Argentina occupied fighting ONE forces on the South American continent New Zealand has decided to NE them. However, New Zealand's land bridge onto the South American continent, Zona Austral, was RW'd and returned to Chile's control. Although not before New Zealand managed to attack the Argentinian region of Patagonia. Losing this would mean New Zealand was off the continent and, at least for the time being, unable to join the growing war in South America.

However, New Zealand prevailed capturing Patgonia and, at least for the time being, securing their position. Currently New Zealand has moved to further reinforce themselves by re-taking Zona Central from Chile and has also launched an offensive against Cuyo.

Brazil has suffered this week. Spain now seems a permenant resident in Brazil's northern territories of the North of Brazil and Northeast of Brazil, and RW's haven't had any success against the Spanish. Earlier in the week Peru occupied Parana and Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sol and Southeast of Brazil. Leaving Brazil down to the Center West of Brazil and it's South African colonies. Those colonies we're gradually RW'd into South African hands by ONE forces. However, the opportunity to wipe Brazil was lost when Parana and Santa Catarina was liberated from Peruvian control. This was later followed by the liberation of the Center West of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sol and the Southeast of Brazil.

South Africa decided to weigh in to seemingly seek some payback after being Brazil's resource farm for so long. However, they were actually working to return the lost regions to Brazil. Attacking Rio Grande do Sul would give them the opportunity to counter. Unfortunately for them, ONE decided that they were going to win it and they ended up conquering Rio Grande do Sul. Peru then preceded to attack and conquer Parana and Santa Caterina and the Southeast of Brazil. Brazilian resistance fighters have had little trouble in re-taking regions held by Peru. That hasn't been the case with Spain, who NE'd Brazil and then moved on the Center West of Brazil.

Currently Brazil has retaken Parana and Santa Caterina from Peru and have also began a RW in the South African held Rio Grande do Sul, which they should win if ONE doesn't step in.

Argentina has had a rough week with its 5 Peruvian regions, 3 Columbian regions and 2 Bolivian regions all being RW'd back to their original owners by ONE forces. Peru also launched a successful attack on Mesopotamia and then pushed further on to Pampas. Argentina did manage to RW Mesopotamia back, but Peru re-attacked and conquered the region.

New Zealand have also thrown in with Peru and declared Argentina a NE on Day 1,319. Although they lost their land bridge, they did manage to attack and capture Patagonia.

Currently Peru is moving on South East Chaco after losing Pampas to an Argentinian RW. New Zealand has preceded onto Cuyo.

Al Bahah was returned to Saudi Arabia by Macedonia. Although that doesn't count for much, considering all its other regions are divided up between Cyprus, Macedonia and Iran. Will Saudi Arabia be around for the long-run? I doubt it. But news is new.

With the Brazilian mainland under siege, the Brazilian held regions in South Africa, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal, were RW'd by ONE forces. The RW's were a success, finally releasing Brazil's grip on the southern tip of Africa. Shortly after the liberation South Africa declared Brazil as Natural Enemy. It would seem that South Africa was after some payback! Or not. Infact South Africa attacked Rio Grande Do Sul to enable Brazil to counter and reclaim its South African holdings. ONE didn't seem keen with the idea and won the battle for South Africa.

Currently Rio Grande Do Sul has been RW'd by Brazil and, unless ONE decides to throw another spanner in the works, are likely to win it.

Egypt has continued to rent Sinai to Cyprus at the staggering rate of 0 gold per month. An important region for Cyprus to hold in the event that Israel tries their hand at recapturing Beersheba South District.
