[MoHS] Success

Day 2,065, 13:35 Published in Switzerland Canada by Thedillpickl

Greetings,

Success!

Yesterday's Party President elections were successful. To view the final results look here. It was a tie in the Conservative Democratic Party with the party's primary winner (Lansizzle) and the PTO candidate Szenti having 11 votes each at the end. After admin cleared out multies the final tally was Lansizzle 11, Szenti 5 and Monsieur Guillontine 1.

My congratulations to the winners.

The Down Side

We also took one of the two PTO'ers parties. The Progressive Development party was taken over by xxCLOVER33xx. (Benjamin Doverton failed to take the Friends ReUnited presidency.) Clover never should have won. I've stated my case before but will review my opinion here in case someone missed it.

If not for admin correcting for multies the Conservative Democratic Party would now be in the hands of Szenti as the tie would have been broken by Experience Points of the two candidates. Dividing votes is bad. Placing candidates to take over the PTO'ers party(s) diverted voters to those parties despite my best efforts to direct them to legitimate parties. Also I noted that the Anti-Imperialist Movement and Swiss Liberal Party had many votes with candidates that ran unopposed. 2-clickers could attribute for many but not all of these votes.

Furthermore, we now have another party to cover when voting. This was done previously with The Others party (now The SAMUEL L. JACKSON Party). This division of votes gives the PTO an advantage as they will concentrate their efforts in the Party President and Congress elections to one or now possibly two parties. We will have to cover up to seven parties. The math should be self apparent so I will not explain in detail. PM me if you don't get this concept.

My Thoughts

First I must say that I believe chukcha is a most capable player and is taking care of business as Swiss CP. We had tried many times to communicate on IRC this past weekend to discuss the upcoming vote. It appears that our RL schedules are a direct opposite. No real communication took place except a bit in PM's. I wish this had not been the case.

That said, I am dissatisfied with my efforts. I did not achieve my goal as MoHS. Yes, we won the elections thanks to admin intervention but failed on matters just as relevant to our PTO situation.
>> 1st rule of trolling: Irritate PTO'ers at your own peril. The more they are irritated the harder they fight and the longer they stay. Boredom is a unique tool to be used when fighting the PTO. If they fail against a united front month after month, having little to no success, they will eventually leave to find someone easier to pick on or better still they will quit the game. Case in point, Clifford Burns.
>> The aforementioned dividing of the vote. We are a small country with a limited amount of active players. While it is to be expected that a certain number of 2-clickers are present that vote indiscriminately, the active players that vote 'just because they want to' is scary. A.I.M. with 9 votes and SLP with 7 for unopposed candidates is upsetting to me. As far as I'm concerned, Switzerland first, party second.
>> No real organization happened. Of course this was my first effort in Switzerland to organize an ATO vote, the #ato.ch channel was new. Not everyone saw the sign-up form for the snipers (at least that is what I will assume). Out of a handful of sniper recruits two were PP candidates and could not move to vote elsewhere, two were early voters (thank you to them), one had Chilean citizenship and we ended up with two (2) snipers. That was a big letdown for me.
>> Lansizzle and Rican were to be my helpers. Lansizzle had a RL crisis, Rican and I had RL obligations that took us away from the game until the last few hours. This ended up with few shouts in the Home Page shout box and not much direction other than discussion about sending voters to the PTO parties which I did not wish. Fortunately there was not much strategy needed. As it turns out only the CDP (Lansizzle) was contested by PTO.

So...

Apologies for the wall of text. I would have put in pictures, but why? Anyhow, it is done. That is the best I can say. Barring us acquiring a region for Congressional election or there being two or more legitimate candidates for CP election the ATO efforts are done. That lets me off the hook.

I have my regrets as to the manner in which results, although positive, were achieved. I am unaware of anything I might have done differently to have corrected this. I can only ask that my friends with ruffled feathers would forgive my rude and brash behavior of late. I tend to take any role of authority with passion. To the best of my knowledge I was to only answer to chukcha and I took it upon myself to develop policy for the office I was charged with by him.
