[MoFA] In case you were wondering what I was up to...

Day 2,082, 18:52 Published in Ireland Ireland by Brian Boru
Since people have finally decided to show an interest in Foreign Affairs, as opposed to complaining about each other and obscure foreign politicians, I suppose it is time for an update.

Helped to organise attacks against our enemies
Along with the Croatian and French MoFAs, I have been involved in organising attacks of varying success against TWO, Serbia's resource bridge and occupation of Croatia/BiH being particular targets. The objective of this is to build ties with non-aligned anti-TWO countries as well as to cultivate an image of Ireland as a good mediator and organiser country.

Investigated the possibility of a new alliance for eIreland
Inquiries have been made as to a new alliance repeatedly. Two large meetings were held, one of which failed due to the inclusion of countries that clearly did not want to face off against TWO, whereas the second resulted in a coordinated strike against TWO. Furthermore, I was kept informed of developments from Croatia on a new alliance formed of former TWO and current anti-TWO non-aligned countries. Unfortunately, nothing noteworthy to be passed to either the Cabinet or the public has come forward as of yet. As soon as I know something solid, you guys will.

Vetting Citizenship Requests
It seems without an appointed Immigration Minister, applicants for citizenship have enjoyed themselves contacting me in large numbers to inquire about procedures etc. I've delivered the government's policy to them, i.e. before the changes no MU members, congresspeople at liberty to use their powers etc.

And of course, talking to people
The main role of the MoFA is to simply talk to people, to get the latest from the greatest. I've been doing a lot of that where possible, simply building up contacts and engaging in soft diplomacy. I've been talking with people from Canada to Chile, England to Hong Kong on what they're up to and what we're up to. Even talked to the English about the treaty renewal as they very kindly gave me updates on the vote as it progressed in the eUK Parliament.

Conclusion:
It's been a quiet set of terms, with Sweet being a man of all trades taking care of business on a lot of fronts. A special thank you to Malbehk for complaining about the lack of news, because that's just what it is, a lack of news. Hopefully we can get stuck in to some more chewy stuff next term, regardless of whether or not I'll still be Minister for Foreign Affairs!
