[jw] On the Average Wage

Day 2,465, 01:18 Published in United Kingdom France by Hell The Great

For the avoidance of doubt, the fact that our average was has, and has continued, to make the 'Work As Manager' profitless for the majority of players is beyond any doubt, an attack on the UK community. Speculating as to who is doing it is pointless, as there are countless types of player who would benefit from the current situation and the political pressure it forces upon the UK government. Richer players full of companies could in theory be paying a friendly or lets say 100% reliable other account a huge wage, to distort the average. Those who are here to try and split the country then pick up the pieces would also have obvious motive. Someone who, lets say, won the Bank of England lottery recently would almost certainly be able to afford to keep our average wage at a ridiculous level for the very near future. In truth, there is little real point in speculating who is doing this, because there is no way of finding out who it is, unless those involved in it come forward. So for the avoidance of doubt, let's just say its a big anthill that we as a country have to find a solution to.

Personally, I think the only real solution that we have is quite simple; its time to get mad, Britain. Getting mad is useful, because it's only when we're mad, that we'll consider spiting ourselves a little, to spite those who are at fault much more. Whilst I commend congress, and Alfa, for trying to alleviate the pressure this has had on players who live on the 'Fund your training and somehow buy some food and weapons' poverty line, in the long run reducing work tax just creates the perfect circumstances for malicious actions to continue. If we assume that there are roughly 1000 citizens who work for UK managers (as this is how the wage is calculated; based on the citizenship of the person you work for - hence why this number is larger than the total number of 'active' accounts that we have in the UK), then let's also assume that 900 of those work at a salary which is comparable to the normal market level of roughly 30 GBP. Add in another 99 players who work for minimum wage (in commune jobs), leaving 1 worker who is paid an extortionate amount to produce the effects we're seeing now.

900 x 30 = 27000
99 x 1 = 99
27099 / 999 gives an average salary of roughly 27 GBP. However let's factor in our big nuisance manager right now, at let's say a wage of 10000 GBP. This increases the average wage to 37 GBP, and because of the way income tax works, this nudge will only cost them 100 GBP ish in tax per day, forcing everyone to pay an extra 1 GBP per company (assuming Work Tax at 1😵.

Now let's assume that the person doing this also works for the person who works for him at this extortionate rate, yet again the average wage will take a bump of 10 GBP. If you look at the difference between our average wage, and the market wage, it doesn't take a genius to see that there is either a group of workers involved, or, the offending few are working at extortionate amounts. This doesn't really matter, because of the way the tax system works. 10 workers with a wage of 10 GBP, will pay the same total amount of tax as 1 worker with a wage of 100 GBP; that's the beauty and awfulness of income tax in a nutshell; it will dick on everybody in the same way, regardless of how well or how poorly they are paid.

So the simple solution is, obviously, quite simple. It's time to take more than 1% of the 'floating wages' that are being passed around however many people, to manipulate the average wage. This is a solution focused on fixing the cause of the problem, as opposed to the effects the problem has had. A work tax of 25% means after 2 days, about 44% of the money that is being used to manipulate our markets, is taken out of the hands of whoever is manipulating it. If they lose half their money so quickly, then they won't be in a rush to keep doing it, will they? Of course, this will hit everyone in the UK, but the amounts we're talking about here, for the average worker, is not huge, so long as there is something else to do with energy; not WAM.

So long as our Waynekerr of a CP keeps consta-battles open, we can spend the time fighting and earning TP medals. RWs in Picardy, war with norway and RWs in any regions we occupy would be the least the Government should do in this situation (funded of course by the extra income that comes from 25% Work Tax). Extra funding for free food and weapons for everyone to max out their hits would, if nothing else, ensure that everyone has a chance to do something instead of just sitting on their energy banks.

The ball's in your court now Wayne! 😉
