Peter Snowy continues his History of the World series. This week, the History of Argentina.
*Saccopharynx continues to sport the wonderful Argentine sideburns of yesteryear, eschewing the more up-to-date facial hair of such luminaries as Ricardo Villa.
**Not true, although it did make Andrew Lloyd Webber insufferably rich.
***Also not true. Madonna, as we all know, is as good at football as she is at acting. That is to say, she's lousy at both.

You missed the bit where all the Nazi war criminals retired to Argentina.
Other than that it seems to be a well-researched history.

Not to say a high quantity of jews. The biggest community outside USA and Israel.
Germany had both Nazis and a lot of Jews prior to WWII. I think history has proven that's actually not a good combination...
Also the highest proportion of Muslims and the largest mosque in South America.

Independence declaration was in 1816, not 1818.
Declared, yes. Gained, no. There was a little matter of a war first, which ended in 1818.
If we talk of war, it didn´t finish until 1824.
