[FSK] We've done our part

Day 2,708, 09:05 Published in Nigeria USA by Satyre Reynes

FSKers, Nigeria:

this was planned as 3-Month stabilization mission. Now we're here for 11 months.
We have managed to defend this country so far. But for whom?
We've made some friends here. But our oldest friends who've asked us to help out have left already.

We did know a few weeks into the mission that a real Nigerian BB was unlikely to happen. But I had hoped for a few occasional visitors.
Having received reports about some Nigerians being able to connect with the game despite of the block I asked Oothere if he saw any chance of successfully intensifying efforts to get at least a few Nigerians to play.
But he could not reassure my hopes. I mentioned in this context that FSK may not stay forever.

We had tried to get NMP to work with the rest of the com but that proved to be difficult and you know how it ended.
DSW seemed to be a much more reasonable partner to replace us and in parts I still want to believe that.

It is true that working with Oothere had become increasingly difficult for us. That was a concern for FSK as well as DSW.
It is not true that FSK wanted more power, in fact quite the opposite. Oothere let us a lot of free space when we may have occasionally wished for a more active leadership and a bigger participation of other people.
Whatever you may think it is no fun to be appointed for sometimes multiple ministries without being consulted beforehand.
It is even less fun when you spent the better part of the last term explicitely saying that you can't and won't do that job next term for RL reasons.
We've done what we could to defend this country and quite successfully as the hate of the people who tried to destroy this country proves.
We've tried to get DSW and Oothere to work together which didn't work either. We've tried to work out a solution with DSW that would include the rest of the community and that would stand a fair chance to be accepted by Oothere as well. Instead we were offered to share power with them (one dictator for FSK, one for DSW every 10 days - by appointment, not by election like in most other countries). For FSK that could've been a tempting offer, basically an endless supply of the most valuable medal in erep, but that is not what we came here for.
So we refused. But with that we've done what we could and it is time to move on. To find rest or to seek for new adventures.
Whether DSW will continue to work for this country, leave to seek for new adventures, or work for the enemies of this country ... that's a thing only they can decide and is no longer our affair.

Our words are 'we do our part' but that includes making room for others.
FSKers, a long and steep road lays behind us. Whatever happens to Nigeria, I'm deeply honored to have seen this FSK spirit of old once again revived.
But now we're heading home.

[Edit]: Apparently DSW made their choice. It's rather silly they tried to lie to us about it but well. FSK ofc won't support this coup. In fact I may fight for democracy, like I would for an ally. But this no longer is our home.
