Dear Citizens of the Netherlands,

There is a story I have to tell you, I came to the conclusion that after M. de Ruyter had been president for several terms a part of him merged with the presidential seat, a curse. It all started with something hardly noticeable, a few days after I became president the academy I am studying in changed name.



Days passed by without anything happening until one day when I was working on a project I got the feeling I was being watched.



Later that week I could have sworn that I saw strange things in the hallway.



When the project was done me and the project-team-members decided to grab a few beers in one of the local pubs, I was talking with someone while we were walking in, if only I had paid attention I would have noticed the name of the bar.



When I stumbled home after something that was sure more than “a few beers” I met the being in its full intimidating shape.



I freaked out and ran the remaining part home, the next morning I took the first train to my parents. They said I had studied too much in the past days and I should take some time to relax, they proposed to go to the reopened Rijksmuseum. Of course I should have known what I would find there.



I can’t take it anymore … I am going NUTS. I am going to attempt to break this curse maybe this being will leave me alone if I acknowledge de Rutyers achievements. So hereby I nominate M. de Ruyter for the Ridder Grootkruis in the Orde van Oranje-Nassau for all his efforts in granting the Netherlands a country again in Canada. It has been a long time until we had 2 congresses in a row and I surely think this can be defined as an “unique contribution which secured the longevity of the country for the future.”

(Excuses voor de kwaliteit van de foto’s, ik heb ze gemaakt met m’n relatief oude telefoon maar ach, zijn foto’s van paranormale gebeurtenissen ooit scherp? )

Beste Landgenoten,

Er is een verhaal dat ik jullie moet vertellen, ik ben tot de conclusie gekomen dat door de hoeveelheid tijd die M. de Ruyter heeft doorgebracht als president een deel van hem is versmolten met de functie. Het begon allemaal met iets wat nauwelijks opmerkelijk was, de academie waar ik studeer veranderde van naam.



Dagen gingen voorbij zonder dat er iets gebeurde totdat op een dag ik met een project bezig was en me bekeken voelde.



Ik kan zweren dat ik later die week ook rare dingen in de gangen gezien heb.



Nadat het project was afgerond werd er besloten om met de projectgroep een paar biertjes te gaan drinken in een lokaal café, ik was met iemand in gesprek toen we naar binnen liepen anders was de naam van het café mij waarschijnlijk wel opgevallen.



Toen ik na wel iets meer dan “een paar biertjes” naar huis strompelde kwam ik de verschijning in zijn volle intimiderende vorm tegen.



Ik hield het niet meer bij elkaar en heb het hele eind tot mijn huis gerend om de volgende morgen de eerste trein richting mijn ouders te nemen. Zij concludeerden dat ik teveel had gestudeerd en dat ik wat ontspanning nodig had, ze stelde voor om naar het vernieuwde Rijksmuseum te gaan. Natuurlijk had ik op dat moment al moeten weten wat ik daar zou vinden.



Ik kan er niet meer tegen … ik word gek. Ik ga proberen de vloek op te liften, misschien laat deze verschijning me met rust als ik de Ruyter zijn prestaties erken. Daarom nomineer ik M. de Ruyter bij deze voor het Ridder Grootkruis in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau voor alles wat hij gedaan heeft om er voor te zorgen dat Nederland weer een land kreeg in Canada. Het is een lange tijd geleden dat we 2 maal congres na elkaar hebben gehad daarom denk ik dat deze prestatie zeker gedefinieerd kan worden als een “unique contribution which secured the longevity of the country for the future.”
