As you’ve likely seen there has been some discussion lately about our relationship with Ireland in the news. Ireland, a former member of our alliance, CODE, has attempted, more than once, to undermine the eUnited States diplomatically. They have attempted to solicit attacks against us and attempted to undo our work to secure our borders via our NAP with Asteria.
When our plan to embargo Ireland became public, members of our own alliance jumped to their defense, demanding proof of our allegations, defending Ireland as a friend of CODE, despite their departure in recent months. In the world of intelligence, it is often difficult to share proof without compromising a vital resource. What we were able to provide led to further argument, moving goalposts, and questions about our own actions amidst the boycott that led to our invasion.
The Ireland debacle is just the latest in a string of malfeasances amongst our allies. We understand the ideas that initiated the pack boycott. However, it was initiated without an alliance-wide agreement. Individual nations decided to boycott and others joined in. This boycott led to the systematic elimination of CODE nations globally, as Asteria swept across the map unabated. Abandoned by our partners to face the war alone, the eUS did what we could to protect ourselves: we opened diplomatic channels and were able to secure a 6-month non-aggression pact with our invaders to allow our populace to survive.
The double standard of making decisions for themselves and then demanding that other nations act in the best interests of the alliance is pervasive in CODE. Countless discussions would lead to an alliance-level plan, but then members would break from it to pursue their own interests. The idea of a family is a great one, but most families are not perfect. CODE is no exception.
Last month, not a single name was offered for the role of Secretary-General. This was the 3rd consecutive month where this was the case, but the difference this time was that our outgoing SG had pulled the trigger on her departure, proposing Romper in-game (which bafflingly, resulted in a passing vote). We were headless and not a single country stepped up. Hell, other than France and Cyprus, they didn’t even show up to the meeting! I personally put forth Yui’s name to be the SG of CODE. Yet, even an experienced and capable SG like Yui cannot repair the cancer that spreads through our alliance.
I am the first to admit that the eUS is not a perfect ally. We have a long history of less-than-stellar decisions with regard to foreign policy. However, when your alliance isn’t willing to stand up for itself, let alone its members, what is there to do? To be clear, there are some great people and great allies within CODE, no doubt. But as a group, we are not living up to the promise of a family. The specifics of today’s discussions merely highlight an undercurrent of mistrust and malcontent.
With all of this in mind, today, Tyler opened a proposal for USA to leave CODE. As an executive, we no longer felt that we are welcome there as a family member and we want to seek our own way, as a neutral party for now.

" - I find that kinda funny, since the Irish government (I have been in it since the start of the year) has not done anything or even spoke about doing anything towards the USA.

We set our battle priorities to our friends, which include many CODE countries. We never left CODE on bad terms, we never signed a deal with Asteria whilst we were in CODE.
On the other items about CODE being dis-organised, I understand that, that is why we left. But considering a US citizen holds the SG spot, if CODE is dis-organised, wouldnt that mean the USA has failed in leading CODE in the right direction?

Hey I am not knocking you, but I do feel for you since it appears your countries leadership doesnt have faith in you or want to help you.
As you know, when I am online or when a fellow Irishmen is online in Telegram we try and help out where we can.

For another Romania there is Moldova, no need for two of that.
The difference is that in Moldova 60% of the population is actual RL Moldavian, I cannot say the same about Ireland, only few RL Irish are still playing...
That shouldn't matter much, but as you can see, the atmosphere as changed and relations are shattering, that should give you something to think about...
Furthermore, considering our RL history, one can argue that RO and MD are the same people, most of us being Romanians in essence, divided by the aftermath of WW2 ...

Ireland is a mixed community, Croatians are not overrepresented. We have new relations with some neutral countries like Indonesia and UK, but despite leaving the alliance I think we still have relations with Andes and Code too. Ireland will never be completely neutral, this is history and how we make decisions. You think it is because of Croatians, but I and many other players in Ireland aren't Croatians and we support that. Some countries that can't show proof of their claims don't like us, I don't care.

This is being done in a rush to my opinion. It brings back the vision that our nation is only opportunistic. At least more time was needed to have informed the members of Congress.

It can be true that the discussion started already three months ago. I am not saying leaving is wrong, (I really don't know what should be decided) but it isn't wise to start the vote to leave the alliance without bringing forward the reasons why first. The CP only asked the members of Congress to vote in favor. Many hours later came the explanation. That isn't right, that isn't wise.

So basically you choose to become Asteria puppet state, and hope that when the NAP finishes they won't decide to wipe eUS for fun, but stay here for the beneficial TWs?
Why would they erase us when they have what they wanted... TWs, US leaving CODE. It would be for facepalm to wipe us after this.
For fun. Since it's not like they aren't able to swap regions, reset determination just by themselves. Not to mention that once again there's no answer to 'what's next?' question.
It would be very stupid fun as they would turn US against them again and I don't expect CODE to be so week until the end of the time. This way, Asteria has us playing like they want.
This game isn't very entertaining, so basically any kind of fun could be acceptable. Especially since USA is not as strong as for example Poland to stick elsewhere being neutral and also isn't weak enough to get pushed around without any reaction. But in current situation USA is basically left alone, without anyone backing up and pretty much dependable on Asteria whims. Staying in CODE even for the time being would at least leave some door open, while allowing to find better solution, instead of just jumping the ship off.
I bet Asteria would defend us if someone attacked us.

Casus belli is a reason for declaring war. That's not what is happening here. There is a difference between leaving because one no longer feels welcome (we're not the first) and declaring war.
Casus belli is a reason for something and not only for war... not the first time when eUSA changing sides, so nothing special happened.
Next time please just say that, you want change sides...no drama needed.

I'm not aware obviously of everything that's been said, but the impression I get looking on from outside is as follows:-
US chose to be with Code after being invaded by Asteria. For a period after that when US got back on the map several Code countries were benefiting from US regions when they were struggling elsewhere. Code have now been boycotting for whatever reason and thus US was pretty much left on its own. US then decided that with no real other options to seek peace with the occupiers and we are where we are.
Uh, no. That's not how it happened.
