[Appleby] An Update (also help reject the French peace proposal pls)
Sir Humphrey Appleby
G'afternoon gents o7,
Happily it has now become a near universal opinion that the format of this referendum is a complete farce. A minimum voter requirement of 111, while commendable for the purposes of legitimacy, has all but guaranteed that any and all systems submitted would ultimately fail. Whilst 'publicizing sessions of Parliament' is merrily winning 25/12 (at the time of writing) I doubt we will get the remaining 74 votes needed to satisfy the turnout clause.
I do however feel that there has been sufficient interest in the idea for us to at least give it a trial to prove it's utility - not just for accountability but also to see the effect on contribution if literally anyone can! There isn't much of an excuse for not getting involved if it's taking place right where you can see and comment.
So with the above in mind Addaway has gone over the CPA I was plannin' to repeal and we've come up with a collective bill (click if yer want to actually read it) that more or less accomplishes what option 1 in the referendum would do.
So yes, if you thought that the referendum was a complete waste of time then it was x_X, sorreh!
Edit: Reject the French peace proposal lads - don't need to explain why...

Getting stuff though the backdoor that sounds like.
So I said we all deserve better and we are back to square 1 again, round and round we go.
if parliament is the backdoor then almost everything enacted has gone through it
inanycase it's winning the referendum by two thirds, surely that's some indicator?
"Getting stuff though the backdoor that sounds like."
> Congress represents 222 people
> Referendum can't even get a turnout of 25% of that.
So which is the more legitimate?
So this is my whole point and why the Patriot Act would work better
some people have no sense what can you do ....
So your system would see public referendums happen that don't attract the same level of legitimacy as congress elections? Seems crazy
A congress vote is the back door? You high?
Literally all this act does is make congress conversation happen in articles instead of PMs, does it even matter how it goes through?
lmao chill
Option 2

Abstain.
BOLLOCKS - a fine old English word - which succinctly sums up the whole exercise!
Mayte I is gunna rport u
So after not getting a valid result in the referendum you're going ahead with your plan anyway.
I'm so glad you believe in democracy anf the rule of "law" /irony
it's won the referendum 2/1. It was parliament that passed the minimum voter turnout and thus parliament that can also pass it given the public result in favour of such
but ofc then again token critic is gonna be a token critic
The reason for having a minimum turnout is to ensure a majority consensus among the population. Are you saying that the people that voted for option 1 are the majority of the population? If you are then check the number of option 1 votes against tge eUK population, I think you'll find it's a small minority
All this referendum does is prove that a majority of the population doesn't care about the political stuff at all, given that most didn't vote at all, may as well let political players do what they want given how little difference it makes to the majority.

Yes, the brits know a lot about ¨laws¨. E. g. th strongest´s law, or the jungle´s law. Chagos, Chagos, Chagos everywhere.

Imperial clown, don´t pose as a silly. You know what I´m talking about. CHAGOS
chaos?
CHAGOS, not chaos
sorry do you mean chaos?
It will be put to congress members, who represent 222 people- if they approve it then it is entirely legitimate
k
Blagula wins
No CS committee?
CS committee is governed by a different act
Referendum = Farce Agreed (Keywor😛 Bollocks)
French Peace Proposal: Disagree - I see it as a major improvement on our current situation. As a tranitory step to finding a more palitable solution I see it as perfectly reasonable! I think that you *DO* have to explain why you believe it to be unacceptable!!
I go and 2-click for a month or so and everything goes to pot apparently... Oh wait, this is Erep, everything is always going falling apart. So never mind, business as usual.
