[AMP] No Congress, No Problem
Israel Stevens
My fellow AMPers,
For the first time in the history of the United States, we will not have a Congress. For 67 straight months, we had Congressional elections. But not this month. Due to a wide variety of events, ranging from Executive mismanagement, inability to cooperate both nationally and internationally, and simply being out gunned by TWO. I’m not going to get into it here, but the fact remains, we made history this month. And not the good kind.
All is not lost however.
A few months ago, Congress (in it’s infinite wisdom), amended the Constitution of the United States to allow for there to still be a ‘meta-game’ Congress. There will be no votes in game of course, nor Citizenship passes. But Congress will still exist as a forum for debating budgets, foreign policy and military strategy.
The new law is pretty basic:
-Each Top 4 party gets the same amount of Congressmen that they had the previous month.
-Each Top 4 party can select these members however they choose.
So without further ado, I present to you the Gang of Six that will represent the AMP, the nation’s militaries and the country as a whole in Congress:
John Largo - Our most experienced politician, and prolific tank. Largo is a cornerstone of this party, and of Congress.
Evry - She’s a former President, Speaker and has been safeguarding our money for years. An experienced and versatile Senator.
Lemon Vodka - Former Secretary of Defense lemi is a Senator that has risen within the party to be one of our most intelligent and coherent voices in Congress.
Creitzell - Former General of the Air Force, and all around good guy. Creitzell has only been in Congress once before, and will be able to bring a strong military mind, and a fresh viewpoint to Congress.
Piggy Boot - A brand new player to the game, Piggy is already a rising star. I have no doubt he will bring his plentiful enthusiasm to Congress.
Ingame54 - An older player, but one that has never served in Congress before. I am counting on this unseasoned Senator to look at issues in a new light, and present new solutions.
I believe that we have a great mix of old, experienced Senators to be a strong voice in Congress and the Nation, while also giving new players a chance to prove their worth in Congress this month.
Despite the lack of medals, it should be an interesting month.
Before the Congressional Primary was cut short due to there not being Congress in game, we logged 20 votes. That is up 2 from last month’s count of 18. And also doesn’t take into consideration the people that were holding their votes more towards the end (like myself!).
Our activity is improving, and so is the party.
We’re headed in the right direction.
Make sure you are taking full advantage of our newest program:

"A few months ago, Congress (in it’s infinite wisdom), amended the Constitution of the United States"

On July 18 the existing congress passed an amendment to the constitution creating a shadow congress. It would appear there was no public discussion in the media. There was no public discussion on the forum. There was no public vote. This kind of secrecy is not needed nor is it beneficial. It will only lead to greater cynicism.
and I couldn't help do some math: 20 people voted; for 6 people. That is like 3 votes each. That is what it takes to get into congress??? 2 friends?
Do please check on that "a few months ago" bit. Today's forum post by rainy, (first public notice) seems pretty clear the constitution way amended not months ago but a few days ago on the 18th.
well if you knew anything about our party, you would know how we do our congressional elections. But clearly, you do not.
In the AMP, the top 6 are chosen by the Party President. This serves a multitude of purposes. It can allow us to give seats to our friends in 6th parties (we have had congressmen from the Albanian Unity Party, the Socialist Freedom Party, and the Dark Side Wolves Party). It also allows our Party President to give seats (which are his to give by game mechanics anyway) to players who would not fare well in the elections, such as rising star newbies (Piggy Boot), and old first time politicians (Ingame54). For example when i was just starting out, i was not very well known except by a few others in the AMP Leadership. So I was given a top 6 spot by the PP for the first couple months.
The rest of the seats are voted on by the party members on our forums. This month we had Libertas, Eric Vanderberg, BeronMUFC, RegencyEra, George Walker III, Zhvejk Again, Dczip, Anwinmos and Myself running for seats. Every party member gets 3 votes, and cannot vote for themself, or the same person more than once. So lets say I got the most votes, which i think i did. I would get the 7th spot. The person who came in second would get the 8th spot, 3rd would get 9th, and so on.
So in conclusion, when you have no clue how our party works, it would probably be best if you didn't pretend to be a expert on our inner workings.
You have no knowledge of what you are talking about, so please don't try and spew your venom here.
Thank you.
certainly i haven't the foggiest of how the party works. I simply read what you have written. Your article describes the vote count: 20. What you describe as venom is an opportunity to better describe how the party works. Presumably you wrote the article to describe how the party worked and how it chose its congress members. The article left some questions, which I asked. Far from pretending to be an expert, my comment revealed puzzlement. Swagg helps to resolve the confusion: the Party President chooses the first six and the 20 votes were for the remainder of the ticket.
Hmm, it seems that the wipe is actually helping us rid ourselves of the PTO. No congress means no PTO senators, which means no new PTOers, which means the PTO will get more stagnant, which means RGR's tears. Score +1 to us for TWO's help then 😛
Wow, then...let's stay wiped?!

You are so smart!
someone sounds mad to me
You can't even take it as a compliment?
Not much from you is ever complimentary
xD rofl ^.^
And it also looks like we will be having 10 ppl in the in-game congress this month, totally unexepected
BTW: Could you pleas tell your son to stop kissing Serbian a**es?
http://prntscr.com/1goipy
if thats asskissing to you, then how would you open negotiations? You be rediculous sir
I wouldn't!
I was wrong about the original post though, at the time there was still an option to vote which was taken away later
good luck for your congress.
Good luck for my first term in a German congress xD \o/
Sorry I disagree, I feel we are still heading in the wrong direction AMP. Having the PP choose the congress is in no way democratic or fair. How many times must we see the errors of our ways. If being part of the top 5 means authoritarian rule, then no way for me. I decided to wait until the elections had passed, and I have decided that AMP's failure to remain democratic means I want to not be part of it any more. I have made friends here, and I hope to remain friends with them; but the utter lack of leaderships respect for the process they instated is horrible. Each and every seat should be up for vote, thats how a real honorable party would do it. You fear losing your power, so you hold on to it any means necessary. If one can be guilty by association, then let me refrain from the guilty sentence and bid you all a fond farewell. To all my friends in AMP I wish you the best of luck and hope AMP one day sees it's errors and tries to fix them. I am not saying I will find a party that meets a true democratic criteria, but I will continue to search for that party. Good luck!!
Feel the AMPs!
Congratulations to the new senators!
