Dear citizens,
Due to a private-gone-national deal Minister of Foreign Affairs Van Spijck / M. de Ruyter made in the previous government (Kordak I) to intervene in a dubious war with personal interests, 118,000 NLG was spent on a mercenary group. It didn't serve national purposes and neither succeeded to achieve anything. Worse of all, the paid amount in relation to the dealt damage is severely wrong, and 2-3x higher than it should have been.
The bill has been lowered to 100,000 eventually, but let me rephrase how much money we've dumped through the loo here:
With 100,000NLG we could have:
- Filled 1/2 of the 'Emergency Funds', required by the law.
- Bought more than 6000 high quality weapons for our citizens.
- Put active Combat Orders for more than 30 minutes.
- Bought more than 4,000,000 health points for our citizens.
- Welcomed more than 1000 new-born citizens.
- Bought more than 450 pieces of gold.
- Handed out more than 400 Forum Registration Subsidies.
- Given each citizen more than 150NLG.
- Signed more than 10 Alliances Pacts.
- Invested more than 50% of the needed funds for an AirStrike.
- 5-folded the current Monthly Government Budget.
This bill, which has been delegated by M. de Ruyter to the next government, is still to be paid. The state is probably going to pay a severe percentage of the bill, only being helped by some private donations. The responsible man, M. de Ruyter, is still refusing to acknowledge fault to this all, and attempts in Congress to inflict justice have been obstructed by his party Geuzen Partij Nederland, only fueled by the fact the bugs in last Congress Elections gave them a unrepresentative big faction.
I hope the Dutch citizens will not be so extremely forgiving to the man who already claimed he's soon 'returning to the helm of the eNetherlands' (as Country President).

Admittedly the deal made with those mercenaries was a bad one and we were effectively ripped off. Van Spijck has stated from the beginning that Kordak knew of and agreed with the deal while Kordak denies this. Neither one has been able to deliver proof that the other lies. Putting all the blame on van Spijck alone is grossly unfair, they are both to blame but fact is that you and others only want to make van Spijck to bleed for this while Kordak is kept in the clear. If you want to punish the one than you must punish the other. Could it be that Kordak bought his part in this affair off with a bigger payment than van Spijck can afford plays a role in keeping him out of the wind?
and speaking about the Dutch citizens being forgiving, they let you back didn't they?
I had only been excluded (years ago) by vengeful congress members on dubious suspicious which didn't seem to be true after all. I have seen people using ''innocent until proven'' as VS' defense, but these same people have blacklisted people without any evidence, now that you're pointing back to it.
Here there's no doubt about who is responsible too this, and yet nobody seems to care. I guess Congress' attitude has changed much over the past 2 years, didn't it? And as I've explained many times before, both Kordak and Van Spijck are responsible, but in their own way. Kordak only for this happening under ''his'' government; he has acknowledged his fault, been cooperative with Congress and even paid an substantial amount of the bill price. Van Spijck doesn't even acknowledge his wrongs in this, which would be a good start!
I don't believe that many of the people who blacklisted you are still in Congress so it's nonsense to point at that. Not that I think they made a bad decision under those circumstances, you made yourself look guilty by just disappearing. Only when you wanted eNL citizenship back - a year or so later? - you acknowledged that you handled the situation badly but no more than that.
Not that it does carry any relevance to this case, does it? In fact, it only shows how inconsistent some of us are.

Opportunistic? I have been saying from the start that military aggression towards Belgium in that situation was a huge waste of money ... and guess what, I was right!
You keep claiming that you are not to blame at all as I see it you privately made that deal with the mercenaries and didn't pay them so you scammed them and Kordak scammed you by not paying you. So who's problem is that? Yours! You should be thanking Congress on your knees that they are willing to bail you and Kordak out for a part of your personal debt.
... and what you do instead? Congress gets a "I'll pay one tenth, I don't feel like paying one fifth because I need it for the commune of my own MU"

The only prick here is you van Spjick. I suggest you read Max Weber's Politics as a Vocational as well as Machiavelli. A statesmen never play with the countries treasure and to use it parsimoniously. Your hatred towards Valeyard and myself caused great burdens on this and many future administrations. The deal was a bad choice, no doubt about that. And it was even a bad deal. But is was no gov concern nor to be paid by the gov until the moment our current CP made it a gov issue by proposing congress to pay for it.
Pointing at MdR alone is bad taste, but then again; Why should you mention all facts when the only purpose of this article is to damage one person and one person alone. You off all people should know better.
I have always seen Kordak and Van Spijck both to be responsible to this issue, which I have acknowledged so many times before in the current debates and proposed motions. Just because there are two wrongs, doesn't mean that one of them isn't wrong at all.
We couldn't have waved away that deal as being private without international repercussions, and you know it very well. Not to mention it isn't in the cards right now to speak about these ''what if's''. I know what it feels like to be hunted upon, you're very right about that, that's why I have staunchly refused to support a blacklisting procedure in this case. I am one of the few persons who have worked with all different parties over the past year, so it is strange to accuse me of wanting political eliminate someone.
Perhaps it is more showing that people like me have to damage such people, because they have followers who ignorantly keep supporting him, all the way to the Presidential position. You off all people should know better that it doesn't work that way and that such person should feel it doesn't. What we have here is a man refusing to acknowledge his responsibilities and even claiming the need to return to the throne of the eNetherlands.
Even you have acknowledged the need to pay this bill and worked actively on garnering the funds for it at the start of this term. You do see the need to pay this bill, so I ask you, where should the money come from? Wouldn't it be fair to ask Van Spijck to contribute, at least as much as Kordak did? Or rather empty our state treasuries to ''keep the political rest'' in our country?

I for one am really sick and tired of all these ongoing accusations and insults towards me. I only hired those mercs after Kordak had specifically told me to do so on irc. Very stupid of me not to logg that! btw, maybe Kordak did logg it? He knows very well he can't show that, cause it would only proof my right! and about the price of those mercs: I hadn't checked that myself, I only was the middleman and had send all info to Kordak, for him to make the decission. I asked Kordak to contact them, but then he asked me to make the arrangements, as I was already in contact with them. 😛 I'm not cunning, and yes I'm a bit guileless I know that too😛 But in my defence: remember that Kordak was telling us gov-members all the time how much money he had, and that he could afford it to pay for whole campaigns. 😛

There is a difference between making a mistake while acting on behave of the country than what vS did which is lying and abusing his power for a personal vendetta. vS is not acting on the behalf of the country when he recklessly hire the Mercs with state money. It was against eNL, Polish, SIRIUS, and eBE wishes and orders. In the end, he wants vengeance against Valeyard and myself and his is why eNL is facing econ problems. It really was one of the most stupid decisions I've seen made in this game yet. That picture depicts the situation perfectly, our money is essentially burnt away to nothing because of such irresponsible behaviour.

I would like to thank to people of the government who really are trying to make things better, I'm sorry to see that the hard work of those people is ALWAYS thrown in the sh*t here in eNL. But thanx to all, for I remember again why I left eNL. To bad I returned. Love this country, but the ignorance of leadership is just to huge.

I fear only with the limited supply we have. But I have the feeling that was managed rather well for as long as I play the game and get the way the game works. Of this CP period I wouldn't know as there seem to be some worrying developments. But I haven't seen any statement about actual spend so there is no way to know. I just hope our congress knows and knows what it's doing as well.

To me, this game looks less and less interesting on a daily base. Once, I made new friends here and talked a lot to our active people. I did some work for our government as well. Nowadays irc is kinda dead, a lot of people have quit and the constant backstabbing is tiresome. If this attitude doesn't change soon I might call it quits as well and I imagine a lot of players and new eBabies with me. It is not the game that makes it fun to be here, it is the community. Think about it!
