The Story of an eUS Marine

Day 1,009, 14:53 Published in USA USA by Black Academi HQ

The Marines were to be the last step on a long line of military service for Pvt. Daniels. He had known the Training Corps, the Mobile Infantry, and even the army. This final step was by no means the first for this seasoned soldier. He had earned his stripes more than once and even achieved a bit of brass on his shoulders at one point.

The Training Corps was the usual, the same for Daniels as for many others. He was a lost newbie until he clicked a newspaper article that would change his career. He graduated from the TC fast, in under a week and was instantly snatched by the Mobile Infantry the moment he poked his head into IRC.

The Mobile Infantry felt like Daniels’ true calling; Deployments, Weapons, and Camaraderie were all there. He was expert at every task and managed to achieve a rank of Lieutenant there and he shape his platoon in just a few short months. Daniels needed more excitement though; more deployments and bigger guns were on his horizon.

The army was yet another thrill ride. Daniels was an expert soldier by now and knew the ropes. The chain of command went by quickly for him, he went through the enlisted ranks and became an officer in just over a month. Sweat and Blood promoted him farther though, moving up the chain to eventually commanding soldiers and officers he had graduated from the TC with. The Army was fun, months of excitement and he felt that when he finally left, he left it better than he had found it, just like the officer that replaced him when he left would do.

But the Marine Corps was a whole new game for Daniels. He had thought he had a handle on military tactics, practices, and standard operating procedure. This branch was like nothing he has ever learned of. These soldiers were professional in every sense of the word. An enlisted man in the Marines put out more effort than any other group of soldiers he had served with. Daniels knew he had found his home, and he knew why no branch existed with higher requirements than the Marines, they had earned their position.

All the months of effort and activity had brought him here, and looking back it was hard to imagine ever leaving the Marines. It sure wasn’t an easy road getting here, it took him dedication and many he had left the TC with those many months ago would never get to join him here. Joining this branch filled him with pride, it was a group of soldiers that no other branch could hope to mimic and Daniels had difficultly nailing down just what made this group so unique. Maybe it was because of the age of the branch, or the amount of experience and effort every single soldier had, but Daniels suspected that mainly, it was simply because these soldiers were United States Marines.

It may be his “last step”, but it sure felt like the first.
