The So Called WildOwl Doctrine

Elections as they say are about choices. This election even more so than usual presents the eUSA with a strong contrast in the two main options. We have Jude Connors and Wild Owl squaring off this election cycle for the office of Country President. I have known both of these players for quite some time, and for the most part have always gotten on well with them. I like and respect both of them, but they could not be more different in their philosophies and play style. There is also little love lost between the two of them. To make things even more interesting Jude is specifically running against what has come to be known as the Wild Owl Doctrine.



A voter might ask themselves: what is the Wild Owl doctrine? It’s a foreign policy philosophy. To put it simply it is to ignore Serbia whenever possible while leaning in a Pro Asteria direction. Wild Owl is often blamed or credited (depending on your point of view) for this direction we have taken, but really our current course on Foreign affairs began in my opinion with two other Presidents: Josh Frost and Molly Emma. It was under Frost that surrender to Poland and the rest of TWO was negotiated with a price. After our long summer of wipe we had to pay Poland to go away and they did not completely go away they kept most of our Eastern Seaboard for a few months. This was both to serve as a buffer insulating us from a mostly hostile Europe and to allow Poland to walk away with more than just cc.


It was under Frost that we began our current course of non-confrontation with nations of the Former Two alliance. After his last term, Frost announced his political retirement and warned the eUSA to begin a more prudent course as he would not be coming back to fix things again. It was under Wild Owl a few months later that he and his MoFA (Artela) were able to gain the eUSA entry into Sirius, the anti Serbia Alliance that would be comprised of Poland, Spain, Turkey, Croatia, and the eUSA. So it was for a few months everyone was happy. We were in a strong alliance that would be able to stand toe to toe with Serbia/Hungary. However, it was not to last.



Under Molly Emma SIRIUS asked the eUSA to NE Argentina in order to help push them out of Spain. We were given vague intangible assurance of support if we were to do so. In the same breath however it was strongly intimated that we would be expelled from the Alliance if we did not. Faced with the choice of sacrificing the sovereignty of eUSA soil with little to no tangible support or expulsion from an Alliance that would so callously offer us up as cannon fodder Molly decided to publicly announce a NAP with Argentina. The response was a unanimous vote from SIRIUS to eject the eUSA. WildOwl then MoFA began to lay the groundwork for another Alliance. Thus was born Pacifica. The details of this are unfortunately lost forever due to the eUSA forums domain host going down and the backup from those few months not making the transition to our new domain host for the eUS forums.


As can easily be construed WildOwl’s fingerprints have been all over our Foreign Affairs for quite some time. The reason for it is simple he was there when things went very very wrong, and was able to swiftly carve out a new Alliance and niche for the nation that not only allowed us to weather the storm none the worse for wear, but arguably in a stronger position than we were prior. It is in moments of crisis that you find out who someone really is, and it was during that time of upheaval that I learned a great deal about not just Wild Owl, but Molly Emma, and DMJohnston. The three of them collaborated endlessly in an effort to ensure the eUSA had a place in the world. They succeeded beyond measure. To the point now the aforementioned WildOwl Doctrine is cited as too safe. If the main complaint about your work and legacy is that you succeeded too well……...



Country President can be a rough gig. It is a drain on time and energy. It demands long hours at extremely odd times. It requires patience, organization, and a willingness to drop the hammer on someone as needed. I have been around now for approximately 30 months. I have seen a lot of Presidents over that time. Some have been great, some mediocre, and some bad. Wild Owl is in my opinion one of the finest Presidents the eUSA has ever had. Thanks to his deft leadership and skilled diplomacy we now have full bonuses in our core regions. This is an accomplishment that is unmatched in the annals of the eUSA. It is also an accomplishment that has freed this country. The bulk of our revenue monies were going to rental agreements, determination reset costs, and maintaining colonies for our missing bonuses. We are now free to initiate foreign adventures without exposing our bonuses to damage drains.


I will be voting for Wild Owl on November 5th. For a variety of reasons. I know from long experience of working with him that I can trust him implicitly. He is one of the best players Presidents this nation has ever had. His energy, drive, and acumen are second to none. He as mentioned is a large reason for our enviable geopolitical position, and I am genuinely excited to see what he can accomplish with that position of strength. I know he will provide the eUSA with excellent leadership and direction. It's just what he does. Wild Owl for Country President!
