The Futility of Diplomacy
Jaredbeaudrie123
Now to get to the topic of the article and as to why diplomacy is futile, just look back on human history for specific evidence. Now you may be asking what evidence is there to prove this theory is true and that we never will have an end to wars? Ok, if you have studied any type of world history or history in general you might have heard of the Munich Pact by any chance. If you have not heard of this event before, I will give you a little rundown. It is 1938 Hitler has just annexed Austria and is desiring to gain German-inhabited land off of Czechoslovakia. British and France don't want to fight and thus ignore their previous agreements to defend Czechoslovakian sovereignty and give the Seudetenland to Germany in exchange for a German promise to not expand any more. (Now why is this event important some of you might be asking so here is why) 7 months after Germany had annexed the Seudetenland, Hitler had proceeded to annex the rest of Czechoslovakia, and had immediately ended the diplomatic card. This event would end up culminating into WW2. The simple rules of human nature will not allow peace to prevail and there will eventually be wars, despite what idealists think.

😑 not sure if real life or in game...
Technically, both as there is never a long period of peacetime in game as one countries leader or congress decides to declare war regardless of any diplomacy made before hand
IRL, when I got out, our military was gearing for Africa. We geared up for Vietnam, hit them for 20 years. We gear up for the desert by repainting and re-camo, we dick around the middle east for 20 years. Right now, our training, our new equipment, and the limited number of Gaurdsmen already deployed to Africa... we're gonna go stomping around there. And what's in it for us? The only resource Southern Africa can provide aside from labor; precious gems and metals. But who owns it all? Europe owns most of the interests in Africa. We're screwing around with Europes honey pot and they aren't gonna be happy.
Yes, it is true but remember the current situation, The United States IRL, has the strongest military on Earth and the most technologically advanced out of them all, If Europe decided to fight America for African resources we all know who would win that conflict and besides Europe needs America to defend it from the Russians.
America has the strongest single military, yes. But keep in mind we're engaging 27 of the strongest military powers. The German Leopard II is more than a match for the Abrams; as a matter of fact, Rheinmetall Defence produces the L55, which is the main cannon for both MBT's. NATO knows how we fight, NATO knows how we train, NATO has more updated infantry and individual items, the air forces we're stronger 30 years ago, but NATO keeps advancing and we're still using F/A-18's because we always have an enemy that's technologically still in the 70's, the real heavy hitters are too indiscriminate for a war in europe... it's a matter of rules. If we both follow the Geneva conventions, the world has a chance of pulling out relatively unscathed. You also have to understand that the majority of our firepower is in tactical nuclear devices, and we won't use them because NATO has far more, Pakistan and India are begging for a reason to exchange, and every red country that's ever detonated the bomb is gonna have a free-for-all if they see blue birds high.
Yes, I would have to admit you are right about technology of our allies being just about equal to if not better that American technology, the true question of the matter is does the EU have enough population to stand up against our potential draft rate as the draft would probably be reinstated if a conflict came to America that was an actual conflict, not some small interventions around the world but a continent wide resistance would force American might on Europe, and America can come up with innovations really fast and our MIC would be pumping out better and better aircraft and tanks, as we would need to be ahead of our competition, see what we did against the Germans for more information.
745 million vs. 318 million, Europe has us beat on that. There's something called the Red Queen Effect in which organisms must continually survive not to get ahead, but merely to avoid falling behind and dying as a result. That's the best we could hope for. Look at what a center of science and technology Europe is, look at the technological advancement, look at the militaries that are already there. We start dicking around in Africa, NATO mobilized. They already know its happening and the rat race is already starting. We're a force to be reckoned with when we have allies, but without allies, it'll be a bloody mess and will end in the fall of American military power. When that happens, other countries will take that opportunity to knock us off of every other podium, as well. Economic clout, military clout, everything will be gone and we'll get the big blue weenie like Germany did for 45 years.
Ok, they may have us beat on population, and the sphere that we have in Africa however, with our current interventions in the Middle East means that we have the will and the ability to shut down all the oil heading to Europe and that will cripple their economies and result in a European wide recession meaning that we could easily beat them with our experience in fighting in foreign lands, note how many actual intervention conflicts has Europe engaged in after the end of WW2, the answer is none, while we have fought tooth and nail in Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Nicaragua, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria; to get what we want and shows that our resolve, though faltering at times will not break.
Ahhh, the old bonfire warfare analysis moments...
I voted because it was well written.
There are many cases to be made for diplomacy. It works well when both parties need diplomacy and falls apart when people are complacent.
