Punjab is a state in North India,forming part of the larger Punjab region.Punjab is one of the most fertile regions in India.

In the 18 and 19 century there was a Sikh Empire.
The region was under Britih rule,but in 1947 the region was split in two parts.One part becames a part of Pakistan and the other became a part of India.A lot of people were displaced because the Indo-Pakistani war.

The capital is Chandigarh.Other cities are Ludhiana,Amritsar,Patiala,Tarn Taran Sahib and Dhuri.
The largest city is Ladhiana.

About 27 milion people live here.Punjab is the only region in the country where Sikhism(60😵 is the main religion.Other religions are Hinduism and Islam.
The official language is Punjabi.

The temperature is changing by monthes.May and June are the hotest months.The
temperature remains above 40°C in the entire region during this period.Punjab state experiences minimum temperature during December to February months.The minimum temperature of the region remains below 5°C for almost two months during the winter season.
