Political Hotspot

Welcome to the fifth edition of Political Hotspot

Party membership continues to fall, with all but one of the main parties having a fall in the last 3 weeks, although William Ross's United Sovereign party is rising consistently.

Ser Fartsalot, the winning candidate in yesterday's presidential election, was the only candidate with supporting parties. This raises the question of why the UKPP and United Sovereign parties didn't support any candidate, when one of their own was running. It would seem obvious in a party political world that a party should support a candidate running for the presidency from their own party. Of course, players can stand without their party's consent, but it would be expected that no-one would stand against their party's wishes (although I'm not sure I fully support that - I'm not really in favour of traditional party politics).

There is already debate about Ser Fartsalot being President, with an impeachment currently going through Congress, although this will probably fail. I can't really see that it can be justified to impeach someone elected on over 50% of the vote within a few hours of the election.

The next edition of Political Hotspot will be published on the 16th January 2015.
