Hola, y gracias por leer mi periódico. He comenzado este diario para darme una voz de nuestra comunidad. Debo empezar por admitir dos pecados; el español no es mi primer idioma. Además, trato de traducir mi todo lo que quiero comunicar a los otros jugadores de este juego mediante el uso de un servicio en línea.

Te daré un momento para preparar a sus insultos.

Oigo muchas voces hablando sobre los males del uso de un traductor. Entiendo la postura de muchas de estas voces y nunca tratar de juzgar por sus opiniones. La idea de que alguien nuevo de un país, incluso en el mundo real, deben aprender a comunicarse con los nativos en la lengua de la tierra no es nueva. De hecho, es un tema muy frecuente en muchos países. La pregunta que quiero pedir a todos es: "¿Esta es una razón para dividirnos?" Los hechos son claros, hay jugadores en eVenezuela que no hablan castellano. Sé que los jugadores que conversar en español en el día a día deben ser frustrados por lo que ven como forasteros. Estoy de acuerdo con usted, si sostenía la opinión de que los jugadores del juego que no hablan español, que quieren jugar en países de habla española debe hacer un esfuerzo para aprender a hablar en lengua indígena.

No estoy de acuerdo, si usted cree que alguien que no habla español perfectamente, sin el uso de un traductor, no se debe permitir participar plenamente, o debería ser ridiculizado por usar un servicio de traducción.

Esta es la Internet. Lo que para mí es más hermoso, es que muchas personas de diferentes lugares, que hablan diferentes idiomas y conocer diferentes culturas pueden unirse y ser como uno en un objetivo solidario. Castellano, francés, Inglés o cualquier otro idioma debe ser bienvenido a participar en nuestro gran país, siempre y cuando hacer el esfuerzo. ¿Cómo podemos aprender, si estamos ridculed por tratar? Al leer los artículos, comentarios y discusiones en los foros ErepublikVenezuela.co.cc, he empezado a recoger las palabras (eCiudadano, epais) y taquigrafía (jejeje... gracias Lucios Nava! 😉 ). Me gusta aprender un nuevo idioma y creo que me ha ayudado cuando se utiliza un traductor. He comenzado a ver las áreas en mi escrito que no tienen sentido al ser traducidos. Me ayuda a escribir cuando he leído lo que otros en el juego están diciendo. Recientemente, he comenzado a hacer revisiones a la traducción con la esperanza de que hará que el resultado más comprensible.

Supongo que lo que estoy tratando de decir, es que el uso de la traducción es inevitable. La realidad de Venezuela es que aquí hay ciudadanos que no hablan bien el español, en todo caso. Ellos no van a salir. Lo que tenemos que hacer en el futuro, a ambos lados de la cuestión, se llega a ser más tolerante de los demás. Nosotros, los que no hablan bien el español, debe hacer un mayor esfuerzo para aprenderlo, y para comprobar las traducciones más a fondo antes de que publiquemos. Los que hablan el idioma de la tierra debe ser más tolerante y menos crítico. Estoy seguro de que incluso en este artículo, habrá oraciones que suenan como el rebuzno de una cabra. La cuestión importante, es que la cabra intenta hablar en absoluto. En mi opinión, esto sólo lo hace digno de escuchar. 🙂

Hello, and thank you for reading my newspaper. I have started this newspaper to give myself a voice in our community. I must start by admitting two sins; Spanish is not my first language. Also, I try to translate everything I want to communicate to other players of this game by using an online service.

I will give you a moment to prepare your insults.

I hear many voices speaking about the evils of using a translator. I understand the stance of many of these voices and would never try to judge them for their opinions. The idea that anyone new to a country, even in the real world, must learn to communicate with the natives in the language of the land is not a new one. Indeed, it is a very prevalent issue in many countries. The question I want to ask everyone is, "Is this is a reason to divide us?" The facts are clear, there are players in eVenezuela who do not speak Castillian. I know that players who converse in Spanish on a day to day basis must be frustrated by what they see as outsiders. I would agree with you, if you held the opinion that players of the game who do not speak spanish, who want to play in spanish speaking countries, should make an effort to learn to speak in the native dialect.

I would disagree, if you thought that anyone who cannot speak spanish perfectly, without use of a translator, should not be allowed to participate fully, or should be ridiculed for using a translation service.

This is the internet. What to me is most beautiful about it, is that many people from different places, who speak different languages and experience different cultures can come together and be as one in a united goal. Castillian, French, English or any other language should be welcome to participate in our great country, as long as they make the effort. How can we learn, if we are ridculed for trying? By reading articles, comments and also threads in the ErepublikVenezuela.co.cc forums, I have begun to pick up words (eCiudadano, ePaís) and shorthand (jejeje thank you lucios nava... 😉 ). I enjoy learning a new language and I think it has helped me when using a translator. I have begun to see areas in my writing that do not make sense when translated. It helps me to write when I read what others in the game are saying. Recently, I have started to make revisions to the translation in hopes that it will make the outcome more understandable.

I suppose what I am trying to say, is that the use of translation is unavoidable. The reality of Venezuela is that there are citizen here who do not speak spanish well, if at all. They are not going to leave. What we need to do in the future, on both sides of the issue, is become more accepting of each other. We who do not speak spanish well, must make more of an effort to learn it, and to check our translations more thoroughly before we post. Those who do speak the language of the land must be more forgiving and less judgmental. I'm sure even in this article, there will be sentences that sound like the braying of a goat. The important issue, is that the goat tries to speak at all. In my opinion, this alone makes it worthy of listening. 🙂
