Oblige Endorses Melissa Rose for President
Oblige
Dear America,
It seems like lately it's becoming more and more difficult for me to find a reason to write in game lately, but there have two developments this month that have actually been nothing short of exciting.
The first was that a small change was made recently in Congressional law that will allow the Commanding Officer of the United States Armed Forces to hold the CO position in game. The President will move to the Civilian Military Unit and when the Dictatorship is restored next week, start the battle from that MU instead. This was a highly charged piece of legislation that saw buy in from a large number of Congresspeople and parties across the board and I'm very proud to have been a part of its passage.
The second is that Melissa Rose is running for President.
Over my almost six years of playing eRep I've worn a lot of hats. Tyler Bubblar has called me a "political Lazarus" because of the number of times I've reinvented myself and the various obstacles I've overcome; however one of the things I've always believed is that how you treat people is one of the most important aspects of being a politician, or a leader at all. Some people think it's acceptable to treat those that disagree with them like garbage, like there's an intrinsic value to being "right" or "correct" (as they perceive it at least) which entitles them to do so. Other people have consistently been kind to all players, regardless of their station; Melissa Rose falls into this camp. What I'm saying is, plainly, kindness is an often unappreciated virtue. That's part of why I'm writing this article today.
The other is that she has a vision for how to move the game forward for the eAmerican Community that isn't just flip-flopping platitudes from a career politician, but a real plan with nuts and bolts to bring the rich meta community that has kept so many of us playing eRep for so long in game to make it more accessible to others. She will help us retain new citizens even in the face of a population that's been on the decline for years. Her idea to send a weekly, Presidential, mass message isn't just a commitment to serious work on her part, it's a way to engage all players in politics, even those that might be totally oblivious to the wider game outside of their own two (now 20 something) clicks a day. Melissa's also spearheading the way with her proposal for a Community Liaison team to take topics of interest from the forum (seen by some as a cesspool of negativity) like Public Congressional Discussions and Daily Press Briefings and publish them in game, so those that prefer to not interact with the meta can view and comment on those discussions, and that their voices can be heard as well.
Taken independently I think both of those points would be enough for me to seriously consider a Presidential candidate. Taken together they make this election a home run for Melissa Rose.
For my fellow members of We the People, I hope you'll vote with me in our primary tomorrow for Melissa Rose. For everyone else, I look forward to voting with you in the general election on April 5th.
As always,
- Noblesse Oblige

Oblige, you can't give back the first. Your comment will be deleted and even then, your comment will still be the first. You've ruined everything :____:
I was going to post First, Thanks Oblige but then I saw it was gone 🙁
the political game is dead. each month the politicians in each country bring out its rotting corpse and the people get to elect the least smelly fartbag. plato realized it before most of us hence the dictator module. just kill of all that crap and install a military leader.

Couldn't agree more.
Are you going to pay back what this cp stole? Just curious.
Can't pay back what wasn't stolen.
