Minimum Wage (Explanation)
yst31
Why we should increase the minimum wage? Is probably the first question on your mind when you see this law, probably you may think that you'll lose money, but it´s ridiculous to think that this will hapen because nobody works for 5 6 or 7 ATS.
When new citizens arrive they just look in the Austrian job market and find jobs which are paid with derisory amount of money and then they go to other countries like Poland and find a high paying job,and of course they accept it.
But what's the inconvenience for our Government and our Society?
It´s easy, because every time that any worker look for a job abroad, the taxes that he pays remains in the country where the toil is effected
So don't hesitate and approve the law, maybe it will be a step for a brighter Austria that help us to progress and look forward to the future.
Thanks

Super that you are writing an explanation for your law proposal.
In general I agree with you that the minimum wage is too low but there are certain exceptions we have to consider:
*Nobody works for the minimum wage. If you observe the job market, even in Austria, you will find many higher wages.
*Some people work for weapons and not for money. (Don't know how common it is in Austria) The company-owner donates weapons to the worker, who produced them. If the minimum wage is too high, this would be impossible.
*The comparison with Poland is flawed, because they have all resources.
I just don't think a higher minimum wage would make any difference. There are already a few higher offers on the job market than the 9 ATS you proposed. There will also always be better offers in nations with more boni/uses than Austria. Short of appeling to their national pride, you can't stop anyone from taking these better foreign offers.
Still - thank you for opening a discussion!
BoltanZ: Sourpuss!
negro wolfie cub: I ignore all commie blab today!
Your proposal:9ATS
Market 18ATS
Waht I am thinking: Lulwoot?
Schwrzwolf .Yes there are better offers but the 90% of the total offers pay less than 10 ATS.
Gullberg .Yes,I totally agree with you, nobody works for the minimum wage, but what will happen when all the good offers will be occupied by someone, the remaining jobs will be valued in less than 9 ATS,and that can be the problem.
About your second pont,i cannot discuss because i don't know anything about that, sorry.
And the third, the comparison with Poland was just an example, the same happens in countries like Croatia,Spain,Sweden...
OEBernd :If everybody pay 18 that will be great, but as you know most of the offers are really low payed.
There is a problem my commie "friend"
Do you know what is "M.U. work" means?
We works for our MU and the MU pay by tanks and food.
You can work for the best offer, what you find on the Jobmaket.
FaraoHun:You can work for your MU,there is no problem in it,but new players don't do that and i think that we should think globally not focusing in ourselves.
I personally still agree with Schwrzwolf....
I also agree with schwrz and bernd.
Theres no reason someone shouldn't take the best offer available and theres no sign that the best job offer will drop below 15 ATS anytime soon.
It's impossible for company owners to compete with the salaries of other countries which have more resources than we have - with a salary of 18 ATS you can have a revenue of something like 4 ATS at best in austria.
As pointed out by Gullberg and FaraoHun there are a lot of workers which are paid in kind. Like MU work or an agreement i have with one of my workers: he works for me for 1 ATS and i work at his fine shop for only 1 ATS (we already do this a long time when the min salary was at 1).
Things like that are getting inconvenient with a high minimum salary.
I can guarantee that there will be enough high offers in the future.
What you don´t see on the job market is that these few offers are many jobs.
When I offer 30 job offers with 17ats (what I did) you could gibe a job to about all real new players+multies for a month. And I am only one person and could have much more workers.
5 ATS is already to much in my opinion. People who work in military companys for weapons or food don't need ATS. Also as productivity based on level has gone and everyone is at the same level, new guys can find work for a decent salary if they don't join a military company.
And the reason why Poland ot other "big" country have better offers is because they also have better bonus for their regions while Austria has small ones. If Austria would trade a region with "fruits" or "aluminium" for a region we don't have with another country then our productivity will rise and then we can offer better salary too.
Maybe a rise in the VAT would be better as prices have dropped to much.
@ OmuNegru9 a higher VAT would destroy the rest of our market. A lower VAT would give a chance to earn money by trading. What will bring more income? Have high prices and sell nothing, or sell something with low profit.
Gullberg's right! Austria can not be compared with the Polish. Poland has the resources 10/10! product of 20 weapons per worker and is produced in Austria, 12
@ wschwabe. You are totally wrong in my opinion. Prices have dropped very bad because there is a high offer on the market. People still buy the same only the supply has grown. And people sell under the price they produce the food or weapons.
For example the minimum price you can sell a Q5 food is 1 ATS without VAT. If you sell at a lower prices you lose money. With a 10% VAT the final price would be 1,1 ATS. But if the VAT goes to 50% you would still have to sell your food for at least 1 ATS without VAT. Only the final price would be 1,5 ATS. In the end this will lead either to more money from VAT either people who sell for less will lose money and disappear from the market.
A new citizen has no trouble getting a job at much better than minimum wage; all raising it accomplishes is make trouble for people who want to work for a MU/friend/group job for low wages so that the money can be used towards the group effort (as has been said by others.)
