Let's Take a Deep Breath

Let me preface this by saying that Molly Emma has been an outstanding CP. As highlighted by her recent article, the domestic side of things have been very good. Interior, Education, and DHS (full disclosure I'm the current Secretary of Homeland Security) are humming along. The DoD has also been doing work. The USAF merger is going very well. None of that is talked about much at present which is a shame. The topic simultaneously grabbing headlines and causing everyone with a newspaper and an opinion to weigh in has sucked the oxygen out of the room.

In the last five months I've served as Secretary of State once and as a Deputy in State twice. I have also served as Secretary of Homeland Security a few times. I say this not to inflate my own importance, but to emphasize that I have seen first hand the amount of effort put into foreign policy. For months countless hours have been poured into trying to make things work on the international stage. In spite of this the stresses continued to grow until a breaking point was reached. An ultimatum was issued. A choice had to be made: risk wipe for an alliance we were no longer sure had our best interests at heart, or look to protect our nation.

Fact of the matter is as CP, Molly Emma had the fortitude to stand up for the nation she was elected to lead. The easy path would have been to waffle under the pressure of the Sirius push to get us to go after Argentina alone. She understood that it would be passing the buck. She'd have been cheered by citizens at home and "allies" abroad, but she understood that inevitably things would turn and we'd be facing a wipe. Likely not on her watch, but sooner or later we'd reap the whirlwind. Instead she chose a path that wouldn't be popularly perceived because it was the right thing to do.

Contrary to what some are saying the sky is not falling. Our mpp stack will likely be virtually unchanged by this. As Tenshibo has said this is comparable to when Hungary left Asteria. They aren't isolated and alone. They still fight beside their former Alliance, just a little more independently. Contingency plans are already underway, and while I cannot foresee the future it's my belief that we will be stronger and better off for the actions of the Executive this month.
