Irule's View

Day 2,331, 16:53 Published in USA USA by irule777

It’s no secret that the game of eRepublik has primarily been more exhilarating in it’s offsite manners such as IRC, forums, or even game communications more in referral to the player created “meta”. Obviously not every player plays this way, and there’s no problem with that at all, but that seems to be what keeps most players coming back. The community that we’ve created off the actual game.

To me, the game needs to recreate itself internally if it has hopes of ever building its player count again, which we all doubt Plato will ever come to do. This article is just a few ideas/rants/hearts to Seppo. Also, I’m back I guess 🙂

Politics

I can not even begin to convey the amount of disappointment I have over my timing in this game. I became involved in the meta of Australia (my first real country I was invested in) long after the removal of the original congressional elections system. To me, those of us who actually put a lot of effort into congressional elections (and there’s very few now, usually just an article, some candidate picking, few messages, whatever), we’d much rather it be returned to the old status. This isn’t a real life election where complexity is a bad thing. While voting needs to be fairly easy (and it is for the most part, other than PP’s trying to move everyone madly, but that doesn’t actually affect you, you may vote where you please), there needs to be some form of strategic fun in elections. Congressional elections are to be the time for scheming and excitement, as well as allowing 6th party candidates to actually stand a chance in the polls through coordination. I think this method gives not only better representation, but more fun to the whole process.

I’d also like to see in-game titles mean something, I suppose. Perhaps have them linked to accounts of organizations so we don’t need to frantically change over every month (which can be a pain, depending on who’s doing what).

Economics

I like how easy the economics system is, as new players need to be able to get on and figure the game out, even if plenty of help is available. My issue lies with the experienced players who want something more from the game. I’d personally like a better reason to make money than I get to fight harder in battles. Perhaps add a stock market or something of the sorts (anything really) that adds a level of complexity to it for the older players or for those willing to go further into the game.

While I continue to mention adding more complexity, I think it’s key the admins do this in the correct way. The game needs to be easy enough to get started in, absolutely, but it also needs to have some form of progressing challenge for players beyond that of meta positions or strength training and BHs.

This is kind of a rant, kind of an open letter to admins, and kind of asking for your input. Players could certainly come up with a long list of interesting additions to the game that would add to player longevity and actual game enjoyment.
