International Press Review Vol 19.: Special: Alliance Shifts

Day 3,082, 18:20 Published in Germany United Kingdom by Simio Yosemite Sam

Dear Readers,

In the past 2 weeks there has been sparked a international debate about alliances inter alia also because of my own article about

Chile and the alliance question

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/chile-y-la-cuest-on-de-las-alianzas-esp-eng-deu--2592555/1/20
(ES/EN/DE)

in which I proposed a South American Alliance as a solution for the Chilean problem of its international isolation in foreign affairs and also to give a new momentum to the game.

Well, the amount of the articles and the international debate that sparked afterwards were reasons enough to publish a special edition of the International Press Review to take a closer look on what´s going in the international press in recent days and to give you an overview over what happened so far.

Forementioned article also triggered an internal discusion in Chile bringing down the government`s plan to join NEXUS together with Bulgaria and MKD, and afterwards

Chile joined Adriatica

(ES/EN)

with Chile`s MoFA amyrkovthe explaining the reasons why the government decided to do this step: Posibility to sign MPPs with allies outside the alliance and exptected cooperation of Adriatica with Pacifica.

At the same time it was decided that

Argentina and Brasil will join Pacifica

(ES)

Argentine MoFA VyC Arg stating it was the best solution after analyzing all posibilities of entering a new alliance.

But this decision didn´t provoke as good reactions as expected neither at home nor by new and old alliance partners. While American author Donald J Trump called

Argentina - the new Greece

(EN)

and classified Argentina as potentially dangerous for the own alliance and unreliable especially if an internal war would break out and then the Argentine foreign policy would “overturn all the time”.

Quite disappointed of Argentina´s entrance into Pacifica was Romanian editor Raul Doru while analyzing the personality of the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs and called him in his article

The curious case of VyC ARG

(EN)

a “wannabe terrorist”, concluding with the recomendation to join GAMA if he´d want to be a true terrorist.

But how would those alliance shifts affect the international system of alliances? Well, yet the answer you´ll get from Raul Doru. In his article

The balance of power

https://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-alliances-the-balance-of-power-2594331/1/20
(EN)
https://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-1344-2594384/1/20
(RU/translated by brauni)

he says that Asteria isn´t in inmediate danger after Argentina and Brazil have left and proposed to invite Iran instead. The future main enemy of Asteria will be - in his opinion - Adriatica with that alliance getting stronger day by day with joining new countries.

After some rumours already had circulated through various IRC channels that the Pacifica enlargement wouldn´t be the end of the road regarding alliance shifts, the Turkish MoFA triggered the next bomb, releasing an article about

Recent Developements: Turkey´s entrance blocked

http://www.erepublik.com/es/article/-d-i-leri-bakanl-ttifak-konusu-hakk-nda-son-geli-meler-2594133/1/20
(TR)

Turkish MoFA J211 telling us that the entry of Turkey to Pacifica was blocked by Hungary and that under these circumstances Argentina, Brazil will leave again taking with them also Greece. And all four countries would probably join Adriatica.

This was relativated later on by Adriatica´s Public Relations official HisAirness. In a comment to my article

Alliances or how to knit a pullover: pick up one - drop one…

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/alliances-or-how-to-knit-a-pullover-pick-up-one-drop-one-esp-eng-deu--2594284/1/20
(ES/EN/DE)

where I revealed the negotiations between Adriatica and Pacifica with some more details, HisAirness offered a new scenario, declaring that Turkey, Greece, Argentina and Brazil could seek founding a new alliance which probably would work close together with Adriatica.

The idea of Chile being in the same alliance with Greece was discarded by Pescaman. In his article

Chile in its labyrinth

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/chile-en-su-laberinto-2594455/1/20
(ES)

Pescaman declared that any hypothetical approach between Chile and Greece must depend on a Non-aggression pact between Greece and MKD and on Greece respecting the Chilean friendship with MKD, something that in Pescaman´s opinion never would happen. He also interviewed the two former Chilean MoFAs pianfar and Yosemite Sam01 about their views about recent the developments in alliance shifts and about what alliance they would prefer to reanimate the game.

Since the press release of the Turkish MoFA you already could surmise that there was a kind of master plan behind all those recent alliance movements. These suspicions were even intensified when VyC ARG released that

Argentina will leave Pacifica

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/salida-de-pacifica-2594631/1/20
(ES/EN)

The Argentine MoFA justifies leaving Pacifica again with that the main idea couldn´t get accomplished. Greece, Turkey, Argentina and Brazil should have joined together Pacifica, but the entry of Turkey was denied. VyC also says that two of the four major powers of Pacifica would have given negative votes on the entry of Argentina. This could bring problems in the future, VyC said.

If you are stil not convinced that there was a master plan behind all that, take a look at Raul Doru´s latest publication. In

“Pacifica: Who….?!!”

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/pacifica-who--2594674/1/20
(EN)

the Romanian author reveals some messages with talks about a possible cooperation between Adriatica and Pacifica.

And Hungarian president Nalaja making public how he orchestrated the

Failure of the Greek-Argentinian-Croatian master plan

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-mk-pacifica-a-g-r-g-argentin-horv-t-mesterterv-buk-sa-2594699/1/20
(HU)

because he didn´t want Pacifica to change its direction and go against Serbia, ending the article with the question what would have happened if Poland and Hungary wouldn´t have joined Pacifica some two weeks ago. Well, you might also could get to the conclusion that Hungary was planted there by Serbia to prevent any cooperation between Pacifica and Adriatica.

So what`s next? Well, Cyprus is ready for joining Adriatica. You can see the

in the TheRiper´s article.

And also more things could be happen in the upcomming days as N4zGuL and Zdlemmy already announced that we should

Its`s comming soon

something which would be according to Peruvian writer Dikilucario nothing else as an

It would be just another way to have Chile and Greece in the same alliance group, he says.

So stay tuned, I will keep you informed.
