EKONOMİ POLİTİK HAKKINDA

Tüm eTürkiye halkına saygılarımı sunarım. Bildiğiniz gibi, eRepublik her şeyden önce sosyal içerikli bir oyun, ve başarının sırrı da iyi bir örgütlenmeden ve kaliteli yönetimden geçiyor. Kaliteli bir yönetim ise ancak doğruların tetkik edilmesi, ve halkın ya da diğer sosyal grupların bu doğrular üzerinde anlaşması ve koordine bir şekilde siyasaları yaşama geçirmesi sayesinde elde edilebilir. Bu doğruların ise oyunun sistemini bilimsel bir şekilde inceleyerek, ve insanların seçimleri konusunda ekonomi biliminin araçlarından yardım alınarak keşfedilebileceği inancındayım.

Şimdiye kadar ekonomi ve politika konularında yer yer yorumlarda bulunsam ve bilgi hazinemi genişletmeye çabalasam da, gerek zaman eksikliği, gerekse yeni ekonomi ve savaş modüllerinin yapacağım analizleri büyük ölçüde geçersiz kılacağı gerekçeleriyle bir gazete açarak yorumlarımı paylaşmaktan kaçınmıştım. Ancak şu an itibariyle görüyorum ki, yeni modüllerin uygulamaya koyulması hala çok uzak, ve eTürkiye ile dünyanın geri kalanında yapıcı ve objektif araştırma ve eleştirilere büyük ölçüde ihtiyaç var. Bu ihtiyacı karşılamak, ve görüşlerimi başkalarıyla paylaşmak adına Ekonomi Politik gazetesini çıkarmaya karar verdim.

Kemal Ergenekon Kimdir?

eRepublik macerama bundan 80 gün önce, eTürkiye toprakları içinde başladım. O dönemde hangi mesleklerin daha çok gelir getirdiği konusunda bir fikrim olmadığı için, gerekir de hastane ve savunma sistemi üretiminde yardımcı olabilmek amacıyla inşaat işçisi olarak kariyerime başladım. Fakat Türkiye'de düşük yetenek seviyelerinde inşaat işçisi ihtiyacı olmadığı için, dönemin ekonomi bakanı Neer'in yardımıyla Rusya'ya göç ettim, ve halen de Moskova ve Merkez Rusya bölgesinde yaşamaktayım.

Rusya'ya göç etmemin ardından Gosplan adındaki Süper-Komün projesinin şirketlerinden birinde çalışmaya başladım. Projenin içeriğinden haberdar olunca Gosplan'e ekonomik konularda yardımcı olabilmek için aktif olarak çalışmaya başladım ve şu an yönetim komitesinde çalışmaya devam ediyorum. Gosplan'ın faaliyetleri ve neden böyle bir yapıya ihtiyaç duyulduğu hakkındaki görüşlerimi ilerleyen günlerde sizlerle de paylaşmayı planlıyorum.

Saydıklarımın dışında Ertuğrul Han hükümeti döneminde eAmerika ve eKanada ülkelerine elçi olarak atanmış bulunmaktayım. Banlamalar dalgasını takiben eTürkiye'de yaşanan politik kaos sebebiyle yönetim teşkilatlanması konusunda yenilikler askıya alındığından hala pozisyonumu sürdürdüğüm inancındayım; ancak iki ülkeyle de ilişkilerimiz çok sıcak olmadığından basın takibi, ve bu ülkelerin forumlarında açmış olduğum elçilikleri takip etmek dışında çok bir aktivite gösterdiğim söylenemez.

Ekranın Arkasındaki Kişi

eRepublik'in beni çekmesinin ardında yatan esas sebeplerden biri gerçek yaşamdaki ilgi alanlarımla örtüşmesi. Türkiye'de yüksek lisans seviyesinde ekonomi ve matematik eğitimi almaktayım, ve politik ve ekonomik konuları tartışmaktan zevk alıyorum. Alanımda ne kadar yetkin olduğum konusunda resmi belge niteliğinde kanıtlarım olsa da (Yale Üniversite'sinden burslu bütünleşik doktora kabulu, ekonomi ile içli dışlı kişiler için argumentum ad verecundiam niteliği taşır diye tahmin ediyorum 🙂 ), gerçek yaşamdaki bilgilerimden bağımsız olarak oyun içindeki analizlerimin yetkinliğimin ölçümünde kullanılmasını tercih ederim.

Burada değinmeden geçemeyeceğim bir nokta ise, ekonomik tartışmaların genelinde rastladığım "Bu gerçek yaşam değil; gerçek yaşamdaki ekonomik tahliller burada geçersiz" düşüncesi. Evet, gerçek dünyadaki modellerin bir kısmını eRepublik'e uygulamak abes olur. Ancak gerçek ekonomi eğitimi, insana her zaman başvurabileceği "Altın Kurallar" değil; herhangi bir stratejik karşılaşmayı analiz edebilecek araçlarla donatır. Bu bağlamda, hem de gerçek dünyanın aksine, üretim ve savaş olaylarının matematiksel formülleri de açıkça elimizde iken, matematik ve ekonomik araçların bu oyunda geçersiz olacağını iddia etmek gerçekten de bilimden bihaber olmaktır. Bilim de zaman zaman yanılabilir; ancak başarı için bilim dışında bir yol gösterici aramak da genellikle hüsranla sonuçlanır. eRepublik'in bir istisna teşkil etmesi için bir sebep yok.

Çok Uzun, Okumadım!

Daha spesifik konularla ilgili makalelere başlamadan önce, gelecekteki okuyucularıma kimliğim ve motivasyonum ile ilgili olarak bir referans sağlaması amacıyla bu yazıyı kaleme aldım. Umarım Ekonomi Politik'te yayınlamayı planladığım yazılar seviyeli bir tartışma ortamı oluşturur, ve bu tartışmaların neticesinde daha iyi stratejiler geliştirebilir, ve yaşam verdiğimiz bu dünyayı daha iyi anlayabiliriz. ABOUT EKONOMI POLITIK

I warmly greet all the citizens of eRepublik. As you already know, eRepublik is first and foremost a social game; and the path to success passes through good organization and high quality governance. And good governance can only be attained by the discovery of the truths, achievement of consensus upon these truths by the people or other social groups, and the proliferation of these policies in a coordinated manner. It is my belief that these truths might be discovered through the examination of the game mechanics with a scientific paradigm, and by employing tools provided by the economics science in order to understand human decisions.

Until now, although I have commented on economical and political issues from time to time, and tried to further my knowledge in these fields, I have decided to postpone sharing my opinions by opening a newspaper, in part due to lack of time, and in part because of my belief that my analyses would be invalidated by the release of the new economic and military modules. However, now I come to see that the release of the new modules is still far ahead of us, and constructive and objective research and criticisms are highly needed both in the whole eWorld, and in eTurkey. In order to satisfy this demand and to share my opinions with others, I have decided to publish the newspaper Ekonomi Politik.

Who is Kemal Ergenekon?

I have begun my adventure in eRepublik 80 days ago, within the borders of eTurkey. Since I lacked any clue on which sectors were most profitable to work in at that time, I have chosen to become a construction worker in hope of being able to help the construction of hospitals and defense systems if it became necessary. However, since there was no demand for low skilled construction workers in eTurkey, I have immigrated to Russia with the help of Neer - the Turkish Minister of Economics of the time - and I still continue to live in the region of Moscow and Central Russia.

After I immigrated to Russia, I began to work in a company belonging to the Super Commune project in Russia called Gosplan. When I was made aware of the contents of the project, I began to actively work in Gosplan in order to provide assistance in economic issues; and I am still working as a Gosplan committee member. In the following days, I am planning to share my opinions on the activities of Gosplan and why such an institution is necessary.

In addition to these, I have also been appointed as the Turkish Ambassador to eUSA and eCanada during the government of Ertugrul Han. Because of the political chaos experienced in eTurkey following the wave of bannings, and since reforms on the government organization are temporarily suspended, I believe I still retain the position; however since the relations with both countries are not very active, my activities are limited to media survey and maintaining the embassies I have established in the forums of both countries.

The Person behind the Screen

The real reason why eRepublik attracts me is its convergence with my real life interests. I am currently studying in Turkey at the graduate level, majoring in economics and mathematics, and I highly enjoy discussing issues both economic and political in nature. Although I possess official evidence of how qualified I am in the field of economics (I believe an admission to the integrated PhD program in Yale University, Department of Economics with fellowship constitutes an argumentum ad verecundiam for those well-versed in economics 🙂 ), I would rather prefer my in-game analyses to be taken as evidence to how qualified my comments are, independent of my real world achievements.

A point which I feel I have to comment on is an idea that I have come across many times in the economic debates taking place in eRepublik: "This is not real life; economic analyses in real life do not apply to eRepublik." Yes, applying some models in real life to eRepublik can be unthinkable and invalid. However, a real education in economics does not provide one with only "Rules of Thumb / Golden Rules" that can always be referred to, but equips the individual with tools that can be used to analyze any strategic interaction. In this conjecture, and when we even have exact mathematical formulas for production and warfare, only ignorance of science can justify claiming mathematical and economic tools are invalid in understanding the game. Science indeed does occasionally stagger; but to seek a guide other than science in order to attain success results most often in failure. There is no reason as to why eRepublik might constitute a counterexample to this general fact.

Too Long, Didn't Read!

I have written this article down in order to provide my future readers with a reference on who I am and what my motivations are, before I start tackling with articles focused on specific issues. I hope that the articles I plan to publish in Ekonomi Politik will create civil discussions which will help us devise better strategies and understand this virtual world we live in.
