Hai there
Vexing Chaos
So... a few weeks ago I said I was going to write an article. RL got a little busy so I never wrote it. The topic is completely different than originally intended. I was going to write about Day 5000 but I'm over a month behind. So let's talk other stuff.
A lot of things have changed in this game. Some good, some bad. We still don't have Perception. eIceland is still not a thing. WHY?!
Sky Hero medals are 10g instead of 30g. Sure, there's less competition and more chances yet the compensation has lessened significantly. ex. Old format (30 SHs 900g) New Format (30 SHs 300g). That's just around 67% difference. Now, I'm not a math whiz but that's a lot less gold Plato has to shell out. Now on one side it's hard to complain because I remember just getting my 1st SH medal was insanely difficult to obtain. Now I'm cruising to 400. With the difference in compensation though I don't benefit the same as those before me who most likely didn't have to fight all that hard either as they've had more strength and rank since they were focusing on air battles sooner than I was.
The new daily bundles seem to have mixed reviews. As with all packs most people laugh and troll about them but eventually relent to buying some. I'm usually that person as well. This time around I'm 50/50. I never earned one of the fancy aircraft that's currently available. So for me this is sort of a win. However, it's going to take a long while as Plato in his infinite wisdom has decided to change which item will be available and it's not even consistent so far.
The 1st item offered was an aircraft and now it's two tanks in a row. Not cool. I'm good with the tank I have. I never had an issue with the original one either. We'll see as the days go on how it goes. I just want something other than that puny drone as I take to the eSkies to pew pew.
Farming is still a thing as that's mostly what I do aside for reach some small personal goals while I wait for the Halloween event. Gotta have those pumpkins! I think they should incorporate the strength swap into this Protector thing. What do you think? I think it's a pretty cool collaborative feature. Also, whatever happened to the "stun" feature. I forget what it was called.
I think I'll end things here for now. What do you guys/gals think? What could be better? What works for you?
See you in another 488 days. Maybe...

Good changes IMO.
Adding fuel means less farming from tanks. Tanks could easily get 2000+ gold in a single week by farming lower divisions. Now lower leveled players have a chance to get medals without being blocked out completely.
More sky battles = lower damage needed to get a Sky Hero medal. Of course, this means less gold as well. With the implementation of Protector, this gives citizens of their respective countries more firepower in order to compete with stronger foreign players with tons to ranks for those medals.
This all comes at the expense of Plato getting more money from the huge tanks in order to try and grow the game and attract + retain new players, who may be turned off at strong players blocking them from accomplishing anything. However, this may be coming a little too late for this old game.
Personally, I'm not too big on those blueprints. They're too expensive, IMO. I have tons of ground/air skins and I haven't paid a single dime for any of them. However, if Plato, from now on, won't be making any more skins available through the Weekly Challenge, then yes, well, maybe the blueprint packs are worth it, as you won't be able to maximize your Protector levels for other countries without them.
Is that the point of the blueprints? To me it seemed that the armory business was just a lot of work to give everyone a 10% bonus fighting for their country but I know I'm not in the tier of players who could utilize it more than that anyways.
That's definitely not a convincing argument to get me to start buying packs. I think you're onto something, Vexing, in that they're going for the usual buyers who will eventually cave after balking at the high price.
I think it benefits players like you a lot.
For example, you have an extra 47% bonus damage for ground fights. This is equal to you almost being Legend V in ground rank under the old system, even though you're just Titan**.
For air, I don't know your level, but I suspect you're getting 10% extra damage there as well. This is equivalent of you being Group Captain*** under the old system.
This will help you do more damage and also defend your Sky Hero medals against foreign players.
The only downside to this is that you will rank up slower in Protector for other countries if you do fight for them, since you don't have an extra vehicle. However, if you don't fight for other countries other than Canada in the first place, this doesn't really matter.
For a person who fights for multiple countries, if they didn't previously get the skins, then it does become a bit of a problem. Now they have to spend more money on packs.
Yeah, I just figured out the benefit/catch. I wasn't acrually taking that the protector bonus into account. That extra 47% really makes a difference in Canadian battles. I thought I wasn't just having a bad math day when I ended up with nearly 100 mil damage instead of ~70.
I usually fight for Canada but not if a Canadian has a decent head start (the other bad math day being an exception - I think I actually ended up taking a close BH from you by accident, Vexing). Now, though, I'll end up doing far less damage for, say, Estonia, and if I want to eventually do more damage abroad then I'd be wise to only be fighting for Estonia (or wherever).
It'll be interesting how this plays out strategically.
If I really want to help another country, ghost boosters are still there. I haven't done the math here, but I believe it to be close to 100% damage bonus for me when I hug a 300k Strength guy but I have to use a damage accelerator in order to really make it worth.
My issue has always been to get damage (and therefore rank) from Canadian Battles. Sure NE bonus help and True Patriot too, but I was always doing much less damage on Canadian Battles as far as tanking is concerned to the point that a Canadian Epic Battle was not worth as much to me than a foreign Epic.
So for me, a 50% increase on Canadian Battles is huge. It gives me a good inventive to tank for Canada while making it easier to farm TP.
As someone who previously only got SH medals when using my leveling up energy to fight 1/3 more than normal, the occasional fluke, or when in possession of free boosters, I must say I really like the change there. Finally I can get an SH just through food fights. That means I basically get 10 gold a day now instead of 5 from a food fight BH. Now I just need to figure out whether that's the smart play now that I've figured out how the protector bonus works.
I'm mining gold like crazy. Since the last power spin I've recovered about 400g.
This is very true. 🙂
Before there was 30 gold every 4 rounds going to 1 "lucky" player.
Now there's 40 gold every 4 rounds going to 4 different players.
There's 10g available every round for minimum 8 rounds.
I can't believe it took this long for them to realize (since removing perception, which i was never around for) that the playing field has been severely out of balance.I guess the cheating and mass exodus has opened their i's
