Thoughts go out to the family
This is the only decent article in eCanada. It was so sad hearing about this. I went ahead bought you some votes. As Klop said, Thoughts go out to the family
I beg to differ with your first statement.

I can't comprehend this, I read about the shooting during coffee break this morning. This entire situation has really really made me depressed.

"We are at war with an enemy that considers its way of life can only flourish if ours is extinguished.
We are at war, whether we like it or not"
.
Stuff like this ought to really help the "Coalition" move there agenda forward without the pesky negative political/public opinion
Military industrial complex is probably very happy right now...
Think Harper will still be getting the tough questions in the House of Commons from Trudeau/Mulcair?
It's still sad to see a soldier fall, especially in our own country. ISIS is full of whackos, no doubt about it, and i'm sure the arms industry loves the idea of another protracted conflict, but I just hope they don't use this to pry away even more liberties. Every time I see a response saying we need tougher counter-terrorism laws, I hang my head and sigh because that is exactly what they want us to do.
Exactly, every time I see another freedom taken away in the form of "Protection from Terrorism" I think, Somewhere a terrorist is hanging a "Mission Accomplished" banner....
This murder now appears to have been working alone and not part of an orchastrated plot lead by ISIS. This murder appears to have converted to Islam and then to extremism (or perhaps vice versa) out of some inner conflict.
As the son of a navy vet and as a Canadian, I mourn for Cpl. Cirillo and pray for his family.
But we are a strong and proud people who will not change our lives or betray our morals because of one or two disenfranchised men who felt the need to act out against our soldiers and our Country.

If any good comes from this and the piece of crap who drove over a soldier, it is that Canada won't allow.the country to get like France and Britain - full of valueless vermin.
I have no faith in that.

When I saw this earlier, it just turned my stomach.

R.I.P. Cpl. We will never forget you.
I read somewhere that Kevin Vickers (the sgt at arms that shot the terrorist) should never have to buy a beer ever again. That made me smile.
Although the governments response to this whole thing probably will take the smile away.

Bunch of Liberal propaganda. Vengeance will be mine Tem.
My thought on all this was that it is probably not a great idea to take some would be terrorists passport away so he cannot practice jihad over seas.
Let him leave and just let the receiving country know that he is on his way. I'm sure they will get the reception they deserve without all those civil rights things getting in the way.
As long as he doesnt hijack the plane on the way over.... then it'll really look bad for the Canadian officials
I am not sure that we as Canadians really want to be known for unleashing our most dangerous and unwanted citizens upon the world. We do have a certain reputation to uphold and we need to deal with our own citizens.
Taking their passports away because they might be dangerous to people in another country whilst allowing them to own guns and have access to bomb making materials is probably also a poor plan.
I think back in the olden days we had some sort of secure facility where you could send people who might be a danger to themselves or others...what was it called again?

So sad to hear- I didn't think this type of stuff happened to my country!
I work across from Parliament and watched all of this unfold, still seeing it with my own eyes I have trouble believing something like this could have happened in our country. Will definitely not be forgetting that feeling anytime soon. Thanks go to the quick and heroic response of security and police forces and my heart to everyone effected.
We really need to start watching the people on our terrorist watch list to stop disgusting acts like this from ever happening again.
I appreciate how scary that must have been for you, and how scared the whole of Canada was when we thought our Parliament was under siege by terrorists. There is certainly a lot be learnt about the security weaknesses that exist in Canada.
But from everything I have read since about the shooter he was not a terrorist. He was a born and raised Canadian, a petty criminal with mental illness and crack cocaine addiction. Calling him a terrorist only gives him undeserved notoriety and serves to advance the agenda of those who would take away our freedoms.
While as a society Canada must decide to increase our spending to secure our own nation and to accept that we must accept stronger security measures, let us not lose ourselves and our freedoms to fear.
