Fight For Space

As cliche as this article will be, my username shows how much I am interested in our space program. I feel that everyone should be interested, however most of you will not. In that case, go on about your business. Those of you who are interested, stick around and lets talk about something.

That's right, we are gonna talk about space. At an early age, space travel always intrigued me. No not the science fiction part of it, but the true nature of strapping yourself to basically a bomb going 17,000 miles per hour. Even something like being sick in space due to the zero g causing your stomach to churn sounds… well, fun! If only I could have been there during the Apollo program. What a sight it would have been. The roaring of 5 engines pushing the largest and possibly greatest piece of machinery ever devised to a distance almost unimaginable at the time. The smell of liquid hydrogen and oxygen creating enough thrust to cause you to feel as if someone is pushing against your chest. Ah, just imagine!

Now I’m sure you have figured out that while this is an article written within eRepublik, it has nothing to do with it. Unless of course Plato adds some sort of system to this effect. (Oh please Oh please!) No this has something to do with real life. In other words that crappy stuff.

Fight For Space is a documentary in the works. While it is technically funded they want to make the best possible impact on our politicians. This includes original music, higher quality video (which means converting older space program videos and pictures to High Definition), and spreading it to the politicians themselves.

If you haven't found out by now, I’ll break it to you. NASA is extremely underfunded. Under George W. Bushes administration they wanted to send a long term base to the moon for habitants. This was cut in 2010. Now, 5 years later, the Obama Administration wants to send a group of people to Mars by 2030, but if the current amount of funds allocated to NASA continue, this will not be possible. The implications of the space administration in everyday life is immeasurable in every meaning of the word. Our technology is thanks to many of the programs NASA has conducted.

From the Fight For Space creators:
FIGHT FOR SPACE is a feature length documentary film that explores the economic and cultural benefits of human space exploration, and examines the historical and political events that have led to the decline of human space exploration. FIGHT FOR SPACE presents viewpoints from Astronauts, politicians and staff, scientists, former NASA officials, commercial space entrepreneurs, and many other individuals in the space community.

WHY WE ARE MAKING THIS FILM
We know so little about our universe. We have barely scratched the surface of the Moon and Mars, there is so much more that can be done. New sciences can be developed, new businesses created, energy sources discovered, the frontier of space is limitless. We are making this film to help push the people of the world and the decision makers that govern them to look up at the stars instead of at our feet.
FILM GOALS
Finish the film by April-May 2015.
Release to our backers and distribute rewards shortly after.
Distribute film to all members of Congress to better educate them on space policy issues.
Release all stock footage to the public by end of 2015.

I have contributed what I can to this project. However, I am not asking you to throw all of your hard earned money at this documentary. I am however, asking you to support their endeavor and the endeavors of many people to allow NASA to continue to innovate and discover.

If our intention had been merely to bring back a handful of soil and rocks from the lunar gravel pit and then forget the whole thing, we would certainly be history's biggest fools. But that is not our intention now—it never will be. What we are seeking in tomorrow's [Apollo 11] trip is indeed that key to our future on earth. We are expanding the mind of man. We are extending this God-given brain and these God-given hands to their outermost limits and in so doing all mankind will benefit. All mankind will reap the harvest…. What we will have attained when Neil Armstrong steps down upon the moon is a completely new step in the evolution of man. ~ Wernher von Braun (1969)

So I ask you, not only America, but all around the world and all mankind...
