Today’s WHPR:
1. War Report
2. Congressional Update
3. eNPR

Note: We at the Media Department apologize for the lack of a WHPR since the start of the term. We’ve had issues with gaining information from departments for planned pieces, as well as other personal difficulties among the staff. Our written media has been lacking as a result, with the exception of the eNPR Donation Drive. This is regrettable and we will do our best to rectify such situations in the future.

For those looking for PDB Briefings, the department that handles those has gone inactive and the Media Department will be filling in, giving an update on Monday as we move into a new week.

Please Understand.

War Report by A^2

Do you like fun? It seems that our dear PotUS does. Are you ready for IT, because we'd love to give it to you? All aboard. Next flight leaving in just a couple of hours.

In other news, we will take a quick look at what our allies are up to in today's edition of:

As Erepublik Turns

I'm not gonna lie. I don't know what kind of deals are going on behind the scenes, but it's fun to speculate and poke fun, isn't it? So join me as we take a look at what our allies are up to all over the map.

Our lovely Slovenian allies are working their way through Italy. They are now in the 18th battle, looking to clean up. Italy is down to eight regions. Let's see how long she can last. Switzerland attacked Slovenia, who easily secured and is now running them through on another front.

Croatia successfully conducted an Airstrike on the Netherlands, and will stomp appropriately.

Elsewhere we see Finland has attacked Estonia. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise. How long will chapter 87 last? I don't care. Do you? Latvia has joined the fun, too. Estonia will be gone in a couple of days, but again, who really cares?

Looks like Belarus attacked Russia and they secured. Russia is about to attack. Have fun comrades.

As I mentioned in the beginning, we may be joining the fun in South America, so let's take a quick look at what is going on right now in the Great Chilean War. On the back end of everything, Venezuela is giving it to Peru really well. They have won seven battles in a row and are about to attack. At the same time, Chile secured against Peru's attack a couple of days ago and is about to attack after two wins. Brazil is down two battles in the Great Chilean War, too. Chile will be attacking them soon. Lastly, Argentina managed to lose their most recent battle to Chile. So, as it stands, Chile is about to attack three enemies. Them mother-f***ing balls.

If you like fun, stay tuned and see if the US enters the frey. Are you hungry for some Chile?

Stay classy, and keep shakin that ASS!

Death and Taxes by Derphoof

Taxes are once again at the forefront of congressional discussion. In less than 24 hours, the new tax discussion garnered four pages of posts and things got heated as usual. Prompting this discussion was the revelation that we may be off to war once more. This would be the third major operation in as many months, with two of them starting with airstrikes.

However, it should come as no surprise that war is expensive and seems to keep getting more and more expensive the older the game gets. If the tax rate of the US doesn’t keep up with our spending, then soon enough we’ll have no money to wage war. If Congress continues to approve of such operations and expects them to succeed, then the tax rate must be adjusted to fund these wars. Without the proper funding, we risk failure abroad and a lack of funds to face off threats at home in time of emergency. Most of those arguing for a tax raise suggest a rate of 12% at the moment, while some have argued for 15%. This represents a 50%-93% increase in taxes. It would raise our current monthly income from about $2.1m to at least $3m.

Those opposed to raising the tax have argued that it is simply unsustainable for the citizens of our country. Many seem to oppose higher taxes on ideological grounds. Some have talked about how such tax rates are so high that “North Korea would welcome” them. Some have pulled out Reagan quotes about how we cannot be taxed into prosperity. Yet, not raising taxes puts us in quite the predicament. We can sit around and do nothing, building our reserves for months at the current rate, or raise our taxes to accommodate Congress’ spending.

Without doing so, and without Congress checking themselves on spending, we’ll eventually spend ourselves into oblivion, leaving nothing for future defense.

Watch this space, the forums and The Speaker’s Word for more information regarding taxes as the discussion plays out.

eNPR Update by Derphoof

We did it guys! We’ve currently raised more than enough money to host eNPR for the upcoming month. We’ve currently raised $55 towards the eNPR fund. However, we’ll have to keep coming back every month asking for more donations. I ask you to keep considering a donation to eNPR at “http://www.mkt.com/Oblige.” If we can fund the show for the rest of the quarter, it will allow me to shut up and talk solely about the content of the show!

As for our last episode, we had a bit of a snafu that caused the episode to be split into two separate episodes. This was due to the fact that I didn’t change the default episode time to an hour. As such, it cut us off after 15 minutes. Despite this, our audience increased week over week, with a total of 32 listeners. It was a successful show last week, with several guests including Tyler B, Jaden A, and Jude Connors! Senraku, our current Secretary of Defense, also joined up as well as DMJ, a prior Secretary of Defense. As such, we got our fill of USAF talk.

You can catch the whole of our chat about the USAF and the reforms going on inside the MU here

eNPR, AS ALWAYS, WILL BE MONDAY, LIVE AT blogtalkradio.com/eNPR AT 10:00pm EST! COME JOIN IN THE FUN AND CALL IN IF YOU CAN!
