Education: Congress
MrCarey

This article has been adapted from Guide to Congress and has been modified to fit in the WHPR.

Congress elections just took place and this seems to be a perfect time to go over some information about being a Congressman/woman! So on behalf of the DoE, I bring you this special “How To” section in this edition of the WHPR.

As a congressman, you get to be part of deciding things which are going to affect our Country. These decisions will ultimately end up being positive and sometimes negative effects. Before decisions are made or voted upon in congress, they are discussed with fellow congressmen.

As you have won the Congress Elections, the first step will be signing in on the eUSA Forums. You will be sent a link to a forum thread where you should be reporting as a Congressman. Forums play a very important role being an Congressman since all the discussions on everything relating to making major and minor decisions in Government takes place in there. It’s basically your go to place to be “in the know” as a congressman. If you aren’t spending a few minutes on the forums each day, you’re not going to know what’s going on, and in turn, not perform to your peak potential.

Soon after the results of Congress Elections, a vote will take place in forums to select the SoH (Speaker of House).

If you have something good on your mind, you can bring it up for discussion in the Congress Forums and it will be proposed depending on the responses from the other Congressmen. Again, discussing with each other is a major thing a Congressman should adapt to make his term as Congressman a successful one.

Change Taxes
A law can be proposed to change taxes like proposing law to change VAT for certain things or changing the Import Tax. The tax can not be lower than 1% or higher than 99% for Import Tax or 25% for VAT or 50% for Income Tax. Raw materials have no VAT. The law will be passed if it gets majority 'YES'.

Country donations
This is used to transfer money or gold from the eUSA's treasury to an organization. During the twenty-four hour voting period the proposed currency due for donation is "frozen" and rendered unusable. The law will be passed if it gets majority 'YES'.

Minimum wage
Change the minimum employee salary given by companies. Can not be lower than 0.10 units of local currency. The law will be passed if it gets majority 'YES'.

Issue money
This is used to take gold from the treasury and replace it as money. This includes paying a transaction tax of which is deducted at a rate of 0.005 gold per 1 unit of money.

President Impeachment
This is used to remove the President and replace him with whichever previous presidential candidate received the second-highest vote score. Requires 66% of Congress votes to be passed.

Natural enemy
A Congressman or President can propose a neighboring country as their natural enemy. If agreed, a free war will be started with the natural enemy. The proposing country citizens will get +10% bonus while fighting against their natural enemy.

Granting citizenship
Congressmen are able to grant citizenship to foreign citizens that intend to enter a country. The number of CS passes per Congressman is based on the amount of votes cast in the Congressional elections. I advise you not to give CS unless IES says you can. PTOers will try to bribe you and do anything to make Congressman let illegal persons into our Country which is a serious threat to our nation. Please don't give CS to anyone just because he/she is offering you something.

Congressman can propose only 2 laws in a term but can vote on any law being proposed.

The voting process period for each law is 24 hours. In order for a law to pass, the majority of votes must be in-favor and the law will be rejected even if its an tie. An exception is the President Impeachment law, that requires 66% in-favor votes out of the expressed votes.

So that pretty much covers the jobs on congressmen. Everything above eventually gets to that point after going through discussions and proposals. If you are new to congress and have any questions regarding your new position, or you are a seasoned congressman and are unsure about something, feel free to contact another congressman about the question. For now, good luck to the upcoming 83rd Congress!

American Hero: eUS Citizens
Blande

We provide accolades to some of our citizens, but missing in all this are the very people who make our country run. We always seem to forget or ignore the people who in their own little way contribute to make our society grande!

Today, we recognize all the people that make our country what it is. The citizens whose contribution might seem insignificant when take on an individual level, but huge when taken together. The WHPR recognizes the great individuals of our country as heroes, for all they do to build and protect this country.

Keep up the good work! We are what we make of ourselves!

War Maps
Wild Owl

Greetings eRepublikans.

As we conclude an eventful week in eRepublik, things are beginning to get quiet once again. This may change in the future, so keep an eye out for battles on Halloween.

Russia is in conducting a training war with Iran, along with a land-swap agreement that gives them +20% weapons bonuses with the addition of an Irani saltpeter region. The Russians also have a rental deal with Norway and have recently concluded an agreement with Sweden for an aluminium region that further boosts their bonuses by another 20%.

Russia's attack on the Urals

Latvia’s regions are being returned by Romania in the Baltics, while Lithuania and Hungary battle it out next door. Belarus was able to get a Congress this month after enduring two months of a wipe with 25% work tax. Meanwhile it’s business as usual in Finland-Estonia as the two continue their never ending war. The UK and Canada continue to trade blows, with Canada generally having the upper hand in the British Isles.

Business as usual

In Asia, China seems to have made a pretty strong comeback. Paraguay, in particular, seems to be struggling against the Chinese while the Turks have had to face several tough resistance wars and MPP battles. Croatia and Chile have, so far, been spared from Chinese COs. Thailand continues to hold onto its regions in North Korea as well as its cores. Argentina has also expanded into Indonesia from its holdings in Indonesia, after Indonesia attempted and failed to land in Greece to liberate FYROM.

eRoC and Japan just concluded a training war for last week’s competitions, which allowed RoC to re-set determination in their Japanese holdings. Japan will be keeping the region of Shikoku for the foreseeable future, while the USA shares the rest of the islands with RoC,. The USA has also acquired sand in North Korea and becomes the second country in the e-world to have a full 100/100/100 bonus.

Meanwhile in Asia

In a tough campaign that involved severe lags and a lot of down-time, Serbia has been removed from Venezuela in a hotly contested campaign against Chile. The after-effects of this were felt in other Serbian colonies, as Spain has also managed to free itself for now. Meanwhile, in the Balkans, Bulgaria and FYROM were, once again, unable to get a Congress after one of the biggest failed operations conducted by Aurora against Greece. Mexico and Indonesia were unable to land, while Ireland was promptly removed after landing in South Africa. Italy, meanwhile, continues its rental deals with Serbia and Hungary, while the vast majority of France remains under Polish and American domination.

Keep winning, America.
