[VP] ATO and other musings

Nap 1,915, 22:02 által Jefferson Locke

Hello my fellow Americans:

I know it has been a while (almost a week!) and I was going to post an article on Wednesday, but decided to wait, basically to post this article this evening, while our victory from last night is still fresh in our minds. Not only did the ATO/DHS (Led by one Dr Luis Sentiero) Secure the top four parties last night, but they also repelled the attempts to PTO our newest friends, Friendship and Honor. This is important for three reasons:

First is because we like to win :)

2.) Friendship and Honor is a large party, and would have been much easier to push into the top five.
3.) This is the most important reason. Friendship and Honor took a HUGE risk when they decided to leave behind the AFA, and worked against them instead. We promised them that we would protect them from any attempts by RGR/AFA leadership to retake them, and we held true to that promise. It was difficult, but it was successful.

With that said, let me say that anyone that wants to distance themselves from the AFA and the radicalization of RGR can look to Friendship and Honor and see that we are serious when we say that we will welcome you with open arms. We will protect you from any repercussions that they might threaten you with (because we’ve all seen them make threats in the past) and we will ensure you have a successful transition to a moderate position. We will support you, and we will protect you from the threats of the more radical elements there.

I also feel it necessary to say that the tactics of Ronald Gipper Reagan are terrible. Never before have we seen a player so willing to throw out all semblance of morality in order to gain power. We have seen him call out people based off of their real life political leanings, sexual orientation, and place of birth. We have seen (heard?) him many times call into radio programs screaming out Pfeiffers phone number, and have seen him harass many female players, such as Bia and Fingerguns. The things that he does cannot, in ANY way, be justified or condoned. I offer an olive branch to those in that party that wants to distance themselves from these tatics: Leave their party, denounce his terrible ways, and we will protect you. Feel free to ask members of the Friendship and Honor party about our ability to not only protect those that distance themselves from him, but also our desire to wipe the slate clean and give them voice in the government.

With that out of the way, there is another issue I would like to take up with you, as I would like to honestly talk about something every week that can be mulled over and debated on, either through the process of comments (thank you admins for increasing my notifications tenfold) or through PM’s, that you can send at any time. This is a touchy subject, hopefully you will bear with me through this. I would like to talk to you about the current status of the relationship between the JCS and the USAF (government run) military branches.

I won’t go into the history of what got us here, with there basically being two military branches, independant of each other in America. There are however important points to be made about the current situation, and about how we move forward with the same goal in mind. The first point that I would like to make is this: Both sides love this country. Let there never be any doubt there. I have worked with some JCS people in party and other areas of this game, and they were some of the most passionate Americans I have ever seen.

The second is that Some people within the JCS forces hold opinions that do not tally with those of the administration. While we welcome honest and open political debate from these quarters, it needs to be recognized that once the final political decisions have been made we all need to fight on the same side and be a united nation, or at the very least not fight against the side with which eUSA is allied.

With that said, it is my great wish that some of the JCS members/leadership that read this contact me, or contact John. I would like to know what we can do to help bridge the divide a little bit. Again, I will say as a disclaimer as I did last week: there is a chance that we will be disagreement, but we will listen to your ideas, and we will respect your position on them. I think that we can work together on some things while allowing for the JCS to remain independent of the government. I look forward to the conversation.

VP response team

Now, as for comments last week:

I won’t copy and paste them, because I feel that the article would be too long (as it very well could be already :P) . I will just respond to them here, and allow for the reader to go to the last article to see the comments that I am responding too.

First, to all that said “good job” or something similar, thank you!

To Bia Pandora: Thank you for your comments! I’ve always been someone that is big on self reflection; anyone who claims to be perfect and not in need of it is either a liar or named Ronald Gipper Reagan. There are many various viewpoints in this game, and I’m trying to understand them all as best I can while bringing them to the table for discussion.

This is a perfect example of what we are trying to accomplish: Me, Bia and Ichabod have some differences in opinion on some things, but we also recognize that we love the country, and that differences are okay. I love the idea of talking to them, because it serves two purposes: 1.) It keeps me grounded. Having people around that only agree with you is a sure recipe for disaster.
and 2.) Whether I agree with them in game or not, it is my firm belief that they are good people. And you can never have too many good people around you.

Zoli: Unfortunately, my personal life is almost non-existent, so I tend to read everything that comes out in the media. So yes, I did your article, and as you can see we took your (and other people’s) DoD orders request to heart. I thank you for your feedback, and look forward to more! :)

Tiamati: I’m sorry if you felt like I insulted Candor in my last article, but the exact opposite was true, I was talking about our need (mine included) to work towards common goals and see things from all sides.

Candor: I agree with you that no one has all the perspectives covered. And it’s a good thing that they don’t. I can’t imagine how boring this game would be if a handful of people knew everything.....part of the fun is trying to get people working together for a common good. :)

And Fingerguns: sup gurl :P

No one can stop us as long as we work together as a nation. Always remember that.

Yours forever in service,
Jefferson Locke

Thank you for the update. I especially agree with this:

"With that said, let me say that anyone that wants to distance themselves from the AFA and the radicalization of RGR can look to Friendship and Honor and see that we are serious when we say that we will welcome you with open arms. We will protect you from any repercussions that they might threaten you with (because we’ve all seen them make threats in the past) and we will ensure you have a successful transition to a moderate position. We will support you, and we will protect you from the threats of the more radical elements there."

Copied and pasted it here for emphasis. And I completely agree.

"it needs to be recognized that once the final political decisions have been made we all need to fight on the same side and be a united nation"
"we can work together on some things while allowing for the JCS to remain independent of the government"

I am nothing but a Private in the eUS Military, so you should talk to one of the JCS or Cyberwitch, the CJCS. But the two quotes from you above are both the core of the problem and potentially the root of a solution.

If the eUS Military is truly independent of the government, then it is unacceptable to assume we would follow what that government decides for the "unity" of the nation.

As I advised previous administrations when I had Executive PDB access, I encourage you to go meet with the JCS regularly on their irc channel and begin a dialogue. Not many took me up on my advice (Pfeiffer being the surprising exception). I would expect that you will find certain campaigns that you can negotiate the cooperation of the JCS, and you will also find which campaigns you will not have such support and thus factor that into your battle planning.

Jefferson,

Thank you for not only reading my comment in your last article but taking it to heart. I'm feeling pretty honored that it made an obvious impact with you and I am glad that it seems to have made you feel good.

I could extend alot of advise on the current JCS situation but I'll leave you with....Listen to Largo. He's a wise man who doesn't get 1/10th the credit he deserves. He has a foot in both "camps" and understands both sides. It is an incredible disservice to our country that we have not been blessed with the opportunity for him to lead us because of that point alone.

It would be very wise to utilize his talents, especially in this area.

Bia Pandora
Bia Pandora Nap 1,916, 09:35

...and his advise. Don't do what those before you do and join a channel, speak 5 words then ignore them all month, then proceed to use the JCS as an excuse for failure.

You are a leader, take the bull by the horns and seek them out, so that when you are done you know inside you that YOU did everything that you could have. That's what good leaders do. Nothing lost by trying.

If they are truly as important as every administration seems to want to make everyone believe at the end of their terms, as an excuse for their failures, and as we logically know they are for damage output (Semper Fi, Bitches), then they are worth the effort, right?

Bia Pandora
Bia Pandora Nap 1,916, 09:39

And on the the flip side of the coin, if you aggressively, respectfully and fairly seek out the JCS and are ignored, that will be noticed by people as well. It takes two to tango, but someone has to take the lead. And honestly, I don't blame the JCS for not leading this dance.

Henry Pfeiffer Arundel

I talked to them almost daily during my term...nobody noticed that I was ignored when it came to anything that didn't involve peeing on Chubb in #JCS.

The POTUS/government each month must continue in one direction. An eUSA that flip-flops every month is a useless and ugly ally. The JCS may disagree with the direction and should say so and why; preferably (to me) in published articles. Perhaps that will change the consensus of who to ally with, perhaps not. It is the open debate that is important. If the JCS will not support some alliance made by the government, if the JCS supports countries not MPPed, those facts should be widely known. Where the eUS Mil fights is known to every enemy and every highly connected player who wishes to know. Only the average eUSA player is in the dark.

Troll elsewhere, you don't even attempt to provide anything of substance to the discussion. If you were to give a reasonable argument, it would be alright but merely making mild jabs at people is completely unnecessary.

Good article Jefferson.

I try to remember that just about everyone THINKS they are doing the "right thing" most all of the time. What is the "right" thing is almost always debatable of course. But the point is that people are motivated to do right, not to do wrong. There are few truly "bad" folks running around. Just quite a few who don't share our vision of "right".

Perspective.

Great Article! I love to see input from the government... But I think the USAF MUs shouldn't be around.. it does discourage joining AFA and others but... people should have their MUs and not be persuaded to join "the official MU of eUSA". They should be joining new MUs to get more MUs and eUSA shouldn't be controlling eCitizens choices. Also, new players shouldn't be thinking, " I'll join the official MU of eUSA, Flight Training". They should be making their own choices, even if that means joining AFA... And I know that Unity is going to accuse me of being a spy for AFA because I said people should make their own choices. This is the stuff that the egovernment NEEDS to get rid of, unity especially because they are a bunch of paranoid citizens that will accuse anyone of TINY bits of evidence. EXAMPLE: I was banned for multing when the PP of a party was being threatened by a new player to take over his party. He said that I was multiing and that that was my multi. So I was falsely banned. I told admins about it, and they haven't replied, so I had to start over with this account. That is my example of unity being paranoid. He accused me after I wrote an article saying how unity is paranoid... so wonder why he accused me. lol. This and much more is why unity needs to be rid of.
Back to the government not having their own MUs... that's not so big, I'm just saying my opinion (which I was hesitant to say because last time I posted my opinion I was falsely perma-banned...
