[USWP] Fiscal Responsibility and eUS Grand Strategy

Greetings fellow eAmericans,

Today I am going to talk about taxes. Surprising, I know. Who would have guessed with all those articles in the media? There seems to be an excess supply of taxation articles these days, wouldn't you say? Still, reasonable ones are scarce, and I want to give my own viewpoint as well as my party's on the issue.

As you well know, the congress has increased the work tax rate to 12% recently. As the POTUS stated, this is due to a reduction in our reserves due to the immense expenditures made to win against an opponent who should have handily defeated us without breaking a sweat. I am not at a liberty to divulge numbers, but let it suffice to say that we were the richest country in terms of reserves before the last war, and we had to spend roughly 1/3 of this immense wealth to win. The loss needs to be replenished in case we face another invasion.

If you recall, work tax had been lowered to 8% from the initial 10% a few months ago. At the time, USWP had opposed this drop vehemently, claiming that it would result in having insufficient reserves for a serious war. BSP and Feds disagreed.

Today, USWP and other fiscally responsible parties stand vindicated. Our reserves would not have been decreased by this much if we had maintained a 10% work tax rate. Many leaders and members of the anti-tax camp a few months ago are now admitting that they were wrong, and USWP had been right. We couldn't have asked for better praise.

The only reason we have 12% WT now is that we chose to go with 8% earlier. Which one would you prefer: 10% for a year, or 8% for six months, and 12% for another six months? I prefer the first one, since smoothing the tax burden over time reduces its pain.

Some people ask: why do we need high taxes? That is because we still want to be successful in this game, yet the slow death of the game has reduced our population vis-a-vis the more nationalistic Balkan countries. If we want to maintain our empire and enjoy maximum number of bonuses possible, we need to be able to compete against our opponents.

Let's have a look at Serbia: They have 5% WT. Less than the eUS right? Definitely. Why can they do with 5% and we cannot?

Daily tax revenue of Serbia in the past week has been between 156,037.78-175,991.88, and this is without counting the tax revenues from conquered countries. In comparison, even with the 12% WT, eUS has netted between 87,790.92-108,942.91. This is because Serbia has a much larger tax base - either more active players, or richer ones.

If it was a game about who had more money, Serbia could defeat us handily despite our high WT. Wait for it, it becomes worse: Let's have a look at damage ratings in egov4you: http://www.egov4you.info/countries/overview

Serbia's total damage last month: 969,645,577,000
eUS's total damage last month: 220,667,541,580

Whoops. It looks like even if we had the same amount of cash to spend on COs and lure mercenaries to fight for our country, their military power is more than four times larger than ours.

The same experiment can be repeated for any other top 10 country. So how do we cope with these challenges? Should we just despair and accept the inevitable defeat?

No. We fight. How do we do this? By responsible fiscal policy and having strong reserves. As it has been demonstrated, even opponents that have more than twice our damage can be defeated and dissuaded if we have our "nukes" - which is how we view our reserves.

Despite falling down from the top 10 in the damage rankings, eUS still enjoys the best bonusses possible in the eWorld. Our food and weapons production enjoy a 100% bonus, whereas housing sector enjoys 80%. There are many top 10 countries that cannot boast of such high and stable bonuses, let alone those in our damage league.

This is because our reserves give us a credible threat. If any stronger country chooses to attack us, they will face our vast reserves which no other country can boast of. Everyone in eRep knows that if you attack eUS, you will regret it. Bolstering our reserves maintains our good reputation.

Long story short: If we want to win and enjoy the fruits of our victories, we must be willing to sacrifice from our profits. USWP has always been the long-term oriented party that puts the country first and populist rhetoric last.

-If you want our country to continue to be awesome
-If you do not want to be a citizen of a mediocre country which owes its sovereignty to other powers
-If you want responsible fiscal policy geared towards maximum benefit of the citizens
-If you do not want our country to go bankrupt within weeks of an invasion and stay deleted for a long period of time

Vote smart. Vote USWP.
